This was pretty bad. Which is a shame, as the plot idea is rather good. There were several problems. They made reading difficult, as I didn't know who was talking all of the time, and I didn't know whether they were talking or not. Or, you know, just any comma.

There are so many sentences like" Right thanks mate. The wouldn't consistently order a scotch, they would say which whiskey they wanted.

Especially in a very posh restaurant, the butler wouldn't say he could recommend "the finest scotch". They are not natural. It's just not probable that, during a 2 minutes phone call, they would say each other's names that many times it was about once every sentence. The main character was told that he was off the case because the murdered girl was his niece. So, naturally, he is the one sent undercover for months to find the killer And it's pretty sloppy police work when they find many cases with the same pattern, and with what obviously seems like some sort of ritualistic "body art" with piercings in the face, and they only mention to research the piercings when the case is almost done.
I would think someone would research this as soon as they found that many girls with the same markings! I would not recommend this book to anyone, but I would recommend the author to re-write it. I enjoyed the detective approach and how John brought in the story the change in technology over the years and how it helps to close so many unsolved cases. Not a fan of the writing style as I felt the audience was intended to be young teens, if not for the actual subject.
My favourite quote, because it reminded me so special moments in my life - "They were in a wonderful world of unreal dimensions; a world that can last for only a short time, and must fade away like a wisp of morning mist in the stark reality of being. Romance, travel, suspense with great characters. Henry never lost track of what the final result had to be. Everyone should read this. I enjoyed this crime thriller. The multiple settings to parts of the world I've not visited were interesting. The crimes were gruesome, however, were not described in gruesome detail sufficient to make me put it aside. I did not know where this story would go and how it would end.
Really did a great job. How one knows who the bad guy is, yet can he or can he not prove it. Will there be satisifying end?
