Now the demon realm is fighting over the right to her hand Misao thinks she's come to terms with being the bride of prophecy and dating a tengu lord, but is she ready to bear her handsome demon an heir?!

Kyo's grandfather is impatient to secure the power of the prophecy and the line of succession, and he doesn't care which of his grandsons fathers Misao's baby. If Kyo doesn't act fast, he'll lose Misao and the leadership of the clan. It seems that the Tengu clan are getting impatient with the sluggish progression of the main characters. I myself though am happy that there hasn't been any progression. Most manga falls prey to this personal moral breach. Anyhow it's the Christmas volume, and there is a bit of slapstick that is starting to make me warm to the supporting characters. I do like Sakurakouji's style; though I would like if she worked on her backgrounds and soft filler panels. Something about shojo filler panels just It seems that the Tengu clan are getting impatient with the sluggish progression of the main characters.

Something about shojo filler panels just grinds my gears indefinitely. I know that they use them to build the anticipation of the romance, but there has to be a point where some of them are cut out. Okay the mini-rant is over; carry on! Jun 28, Sarah rated it it was ok Shelves: If demon-love-interest needs to sleep with the main character to get his powers, but pregnancy would be a problem If I can solve all of your characters' problems with a simple measure, your plot is flawed and you need to rethink it or at least give some justification for why it wouldn't work.

Aug 03, Chrissie rated it did not like it Shelves: Like, the fascinating thing about this volume or was it 4? Misao suggests sleeping together once just to get the clan off her ass and Kyo flips shit because you know, all the physical things in the relationship must be on the pretty boy's terms. I swear this relationship is a textbook case of abuse, but at least the artwork is pretty so there's something. Feb 16, Kathleen rated it liked it.

The sexiness ramps up in this volume, but, for reasons undisclosed, they can't go all the way. I feel like they're maybe using too narrow a view of "sex," here, especially for inexperienced teens. Regardless, both sides are angsting about it. There's more behind-the-scenes plotting, and a visit to the tengu's ancestral home. Oct 31, Lopana rated it it was amazing. View all 11 comments. Mar 15, Lex Mori rated it it was amazing Shelves: Possibly one of the most important volumes of Black Bird. Misao comes to Kyo's home over the mountains. Things don't go exactly as everyone planed and the cliffhanger will leave Misao in a very frightening predicament.

Meanwhile, Misao not only gets to briefly meet Kyou's grandfather, she also meets Sagami's infirm and extremely bubbly wife Ayame. Things seem to complicate further when we gain more hints what might happen if Kyou consumates his marriage with Misao Perhaps this volume lowers the tension in comparison with the prior volume, it still continues to be a strong and steady series that continues to be very fun to read.

Sep 21, Leila Anani rated it liked it Shelves: Not much happens in this volume. Kyo takes Misao back to his village where the patriarch expects him to breed with her or lose clan leadership in favour of his imprisoned brother. His only other alternative is to kill his brother We also get some nice exploration of Sagami and we meet his terminally ill wife. Enjoyable and engaging with beautiful art but this is stretching the story a bit and isn't the best volume.

Jun 25, Robyn rated it really liked it Shelves: Better than volume 4. Miaso still cries about everything unfortunately but we're getting a better look at the Tengu clan. Ayame was really a sweet character and gives a bit of humanity to Sagami. Glad to see the story progressing along with the relationship between Kyo and Misao. Really Wish she'd stop crying so much, it makes all the romance-ish scenes feel a bit rapey. Sep 22, Isabella rated it liked it Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers.

There's a lot of people who've said that Hime-sama, the main character in this series, isn't independent, but that she's insufficient and relies on Kyou-sama, which is why this manga isn't good enough to read. Well, okay for one, that's all controversial. And secondly, I don't like my handfuls of dependent girls that can't do anything, in the other genres of books that I read, one example of one of those girls would be, classically, Anastasia Steele from Fifty Shades of Grey.

Frank Sinatra - Bye, Bye Blackbird

I read that series because I wanted to see what all the hub ba baloo was about-- and you can find my reviews here: Anyways, and since I know what an insufficient girl looks like, I'd just like to get it clear that Himi-sama or Misao-san is not one of them. Misao-san wants to be with Kyou so strongly and she wants to be a part of Kyou's life so much because. Not because she's dependent on him. She lived the majority of her life without him. And she didn't die. And then for the things that she actually is depend on Kyou for? Like the youkai coming after her because she is the senka?

You actually can't blame Misao for being dependent on Kyou for that because Misao, as a human, can't do anything about that. Misao differs from girls like Anastasia Steele because as you advance in the stories you blatantly see that Misao wants to help Kyou and the family she has acquired through being the senka and being protected by the great eight. She doesn't want to just sit by and watch people fight her battles.
