Mar 22, Linda rated it really liked it. It's time for hibernation, and Beatrice the Bunny thinks it's going to be a great time sleeping over. Unfortunately lots of misunderstandings occur, and Beatrice realizes she's going to have to capture winter in a scrapbook to show to Bear "after". Humorous stories and delightful illustrations make the book a great story to read aloud with young children, and a way to introduce several new concepts, like hibernation.

Beatrice the rabbit is distressed to hear that her best friend Bear will hibernate for the winter. Since she doesn't want to los his company for the length of the winter, she decides to hibernate with him. My favorite illustration is the one in which Beatrice, lying beside bear in his den, dons a sleep mask to help drift into hibernation. I couldn't help saying "Aw www It is about a bear and a bunny who become friends but when it is time for bear to hibernate bunny tries to join but ends up with a different plan when he can't fall asleep. Beatrice, a rabbit, decides to join her friend the Bear in hibernation for the winter. It is good, also, to talk about the changing of the seasons and how different kinds of animals adjust to those changes. I love the artwork in this book and the story is touching; all about how to be a friend whether you are together or spending time apart.

I would give it 3. May 05, babyhippoface rated it it was amazing Shelves: Beatrice just doesn't get it. When Bear says is going to hibernate, she's ready to go along for the ride. It becomes painfully obvious from the very beginning that Beatrice has no concept of what hibernation is. She just wants to be wherever Bear is. This is an absolutely wonderful book to introduce the concept of hibernation to young children.

And PERFECT for early literacy learning - parent and child can create their own winter scrapbook to share their adventures with other family! Illustrations reminiscent of Will Hillenbrand are soft and filled with sweet detail.
