Death Angel: Dominion II (Death Angel: In My Dominion Book 2)
An astronaut struggles to learn how she became pregnant while on a thirteen-month-long solo space mission. A relationship forms between a gifted young girl and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power. A detective from the year finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver and searching for ruthless criminals from the future. A team of scientists are thrust into a potentially life-or-death situation when they arrive in the Arctic to secretly investigate what could be an outbreak of a strange disease in a secluded international research facility.
Dominion is an epic supernatural drama set in the near future. Specifically, 25 years after "The Extinction War," when an army of lower angels, assembled by the archangel Gabriel, waged war against mankind. The archangel Michael, turning against his own kind, chose to side with humanity. Rising out of the ashes of this long battle are newly fortified cities which protect human survivors.
At the center of the series is the city of Vega, a glistening empire that has formed from the ruins of what was once Las Vegas. I decided to watch this show just to kill a few minutes, didn't like the premise of it, and didn't expect much from the SyFy Channel. All this changed after the first minutes, plots, subplots, twists, complex characters and a unpredictable future were all cleverly woven into the story. I was hooked, not so much by the special effects they were decent , not by the acting not bad but by the story line. I feel there is great potential here for the development of characters within a good complex story.

Not only did she introduce me to a world that I had no idea excited, but she also made me want to never leave. All her characters are easy to love and to relate too. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading. May 08, Ms Unknown rated it it was amazing. Melody definitely came up with something new in the genre. Not only are humans guarded by an angel that helps them stay out of harms way, but they also have another darker angel that wants them to get in trouble too. And these two angels, must work together to find a balance to keep their charge safe or die trying. Tristan one of the most gentle and lovi While I don't always love books about guardian angels I do love fresh new concepts about them and am always intrigued enough to give them a try.
Tristan one of the most gentle and loving guardian angels a Grandinian around is assigned to help protect Abigail which wouldn't be a problem except that his partner, the one that is suppose to put her in harms way, is none other than Gideon a Grantinian , one of the most dark and feared angels around and he is hell bent on destroying Abigail's life and not letting Tristan win in the century long battle of good versus evil, right versus wrong.
And unfortunately for Tristan and Gideon both, Abigail isn't an ordinary teenage girl either. Nope things couldn't be that simple. Growing up with a designer mom and a Hollywood dad hasn't always been easy for her and she is constantly surrounded by bodyguards and having people around her all the time, watching and judging her every move. And of yeah, she seems to be able to do things that aren't quite normal either. I had a hard time getting into this book in the beginning. It was a little confusing at times and jumped back and forth between Abigail's world and the angels world and left me feeling a little lost but I know that once this book has been edited some more and all is said and done it will be better and not so confusing.
Once I figured out what exactly was happening it was much easier to get into but I still never quite felt that connection to the characters or places that I really like to have. The storyline was interesting and like I mentioned above, the premises was something fun and different. He was very flawed and dangerous and evil and then Overall I think the series and author does have potential and I think it will be really interesting to see where it goes from here.
Overall I give this one a very solid 3. I am fascinated by the idea of angels and demons and after looking at that beautiful cover, I just had to read the book.
The illustration itself represents a lot about the story. Even though Dominion is my first book with angels, well not quite angels but Grandinians and Grantinians I really enjoyed reading about the characters. Abigail isn't quite what I expec Before I go ahead and start ranting about what I thought about the book lemme just say, I haven't read anything quite like this before. Abigail isn't quite what I expected when I started reading Dominion, she was a surprise. Kindda sneaked up on me. Abigail is not a normal teenage girl, and like I said she kindda sneaked up on me.
Gideon, here is one very twisted and sexy creature, that I liked reading about. He scares the life outta Abigail, and practically everyone, but I still likes him. It felt a bit like he was suffering from split personality disorder but heck, I liked him evil. The author did an wonderful job bringing her characters to life and really awesome job with the twisty turns of the story that kept me guessing what's to come next. Recommended to readers who likes reading paranormal young-adult.

The story always knew where it was going never got side tracked by a love triangle or whatever as a lot of books do now quite abit, which is very annoying. The ending for me had me in tears as you find out things about all the main characters which never crossed my mind so that surprised me in a very good way then it ended on a very big cliff hanger.
Now I'm just going on and on. Sorry if I got some things wrong I read it like a month ago and was busy with exams. Anyway I adored the book and would recommend it to anyone its got: It has everything in it for everyone. Jun 11, Booknut rated it liked it Shelves: How does it feel to fall in love? Two of her front teeth were missing. How the hell would I know? Everyone was quiet, so knew I had to answer. Gideon and Tristan have avoided crossing paths…until now.
Gideon is given the biggest test of his destructive powers thus far: Tristan is notorious for his guarding abilities, just as much as Gideon is for his harming ones. Fuelled by his hatred of 'goody goody' Tristan, Gideon takes on the task gladly - feeling smug. This task is going to be piece of cake.
A human, the daughter of a CIA agent and one of the most beautiful woman alive, charity helper and highschool student, Abigail has more facets than she lets other see - ignorant of the two angels that tail her, disguised as teenagers. To Abigail, Tristan's the kind, sweet friend who's always there to lend a hand Gideon's the new student with a sharp tongue, devilish good looks and can be described in a single word.
Angels don't fall in love. Gideon's meant to be harming Abigail. He's not going soft, is he? He's a Grandinian angel, for crying out loud - no way would he fall for a mere human, not even one as pretty as Abigail.. The 2-D nature of the characters at the beginning of the story. It made this book hard to get into. I felt as if the characters had little depth, Gideon's pyromaniac nature over-exaggerated to the point of it being ridiculous. None of the characters for me really began to shine until we got to the climax of the book Then we see the emotions bubbling underneath the surface of these characters - Abigail is brought to life in a whirl of colour, her childhood exposed as a sad and lonely.
She forced to grow up too fast. The speech that she gives to her father when she's recovering from her ordeal is haunting. Every little girl wants her dad. Every girl wants a stage in her life where she can just be and not have to worry about fights, evil, being strong and how to shoot a gun.
Unfortunately for Abigail, this was never an option for her. She had to protect her mother and be strong for her. Tristan seems like your typical blonde and nice, puppy-lovin' dude until you receive the revelation that he feels the pain and death caused by Gideon, as well as the good in others.
He is affected almost physically by it, which explains why he tries so hard to stop all of Gideon's attempts to destroy everything. And as for Gideon But he's also the least deep of the characters. He blows stuff up, kills and is volatile. I understand that this is how he's meant to be. But it's annoying that he lets his hot and cold act affect Abigail. The scene where she's like 'If you leave now a. It never ends well, because men are frankly like leopards and those kitties never change their spots.

A story where an angel falls in love with a human and will do anything to fight for their relationship even if it means war. Right from the very start, w Originally posted at The Solitary Bookworm A story that revolves about guardian angels is such a foreign concept to me. Right from the very start, well be acquainted with Gideon. According to Dominion he's a Grandinian Angel. Grandinian angels are the angels who test fellow angels by harming their humans.
Basically the black angel, or the dark one or whatever you want to call them. Gideon loves to hurt humans and fellow angels. It's his second nature. It is a well known fact that every angel fears him. In any situation that involves Gideon, other angels immediately fear for their life because Gideon love destruction.
It means that they are about to die. That's everyday life for Gideon until he met Abigail. Abigail is our female lead. A human girl who has a very complicated story. Abigail is the human that Tristan is guarding. Tristan is the other angel in this story. He's the good angel. Tristan is the complete opposite of Gideon in every way.

Dominion (Guardian Angels, #1) by Melody Manful
If Gideon is feared among angels, Tristan is the one who is respected. So back to Abigail. Abigail is a teenager with a glamorous life in addition to it being dangerous because of her fathers work. Abigail Halfway through the story, its pretty mellow. You'll read more about character background, a few history touches to the story and a number of supplementary character introduction.
Narration is divided between characters but transition is smooth so you won't have to worry about being left out or confused. As I said, everything will run smoothly until you reach the middle part of the book. This is the part where Gideon and Abigail falls in love. And oh my God I hated that part! I just couldn't appreciate their relationship. It was gushing with mushiness and exaggeration. I don't see the appeal of Abigail trying to change Gideon just because she can't accept what he trully is.
Abigail apparently falls in love with Gideon in spite the fact that he's bad and dangerous. Maybe I am too old for this kind of love but for the love of reading I just couldn't stand them two. I had too many eye rolls on the love department. Asides my obvious unease and dislike for the romance in this story, Dominion is quite intriguing. The twist in the end is definitely a treat and will warrant a "What The Heck" moment. The development bomb at the latter part of the story will most likely be where the story would take a different turn BUT that will also warrant a big cliffhanger.
Ahhh, the dreaded cliffhanger. Overall, the story was OK. I definitely had issues with the story and there were wholes to it but I couldn't shake the fact that I did enjoy reading most parts it. Beginning and ending was great, the middle part and the romance was the biggest clincher for me. It just didn't work and it was over exaggerated for my taste. Still undecided if I'll be picking up the next book. I must say, this book took me really by suprise. Melody Manful, your fucking brilliant! This is one of the best young adult i've read, and i can't wait for more! The story was just really great, and i didn't want to stop reading!
It was action filled, love, hatred , passion, power, sadness.. Gosh, Melody really did make me cry like a little baby! How could she do this to me? The loses in this book The characters are fucking brilliant! I'm a sucker for bad boys, and man.. Gideon was probably the king of bad boys! He's funny, sarcastic, evil son of a bitch, and god damn freaking powerful! I was definitely picturing a Damon Salvatore here.. D I love how Melody wrote him. Usually, you read books where the bad boy becomes the good boy, but Gideon doesn't really change much. I don't want him to change at all!!
He's perfect just the way he is, and i'm hopelessly and completely in love with Gideon Chase!! I want him, and just to be clear: Abigail Cells is pretty awesome! At first i thought she was a hopeless, need people to take care of her, good kind of girl that follows all the rules, but damn i was wrong.. She's a freaking hot kick-ass-heroine who doesn't take crap from everyone, yet still so good and nice.
Though i love Abby, sometimes she did annoy me.. P Tristan Silas, on the other hand is the complete opposite of Gideon. He's really good, and is the hero everyone wants. Everyone is scared of Gideon, and Tristan is their savor, because they are both equally powerful, though they never actually are able to kill each other, even though Gideon would love nothing else than to see Tristan dead.
I love both boys, but i'm definitely team Gideon, all the freaking way! The ending in this book, is simply killing me I don't know what to do..

This story really does have a fully formed love triangle. I was constantly going back and forth on which boy was the right one for Abigail, but the author really did have a way to get the reader to lean towards the bad boy in this one. Gideon really is the boy that may not be the perfect fit for the heroine, but there is just something about him that will draw the reader in and love him as much as you should be hating him.
But your still not sure you don't want her to be with the good guy either This story really does have a fully formed love triangle. But your still not sure you don't want her to be with the good guy either.

There are a lot of parts where Abigail is constantly weighing pros and cons inside her head when she is trying to figure out what it is that she really wants. She likes to look at the bigger picture instead of just what it is that is in front of her face at the moment, but still has trouble getting beyond her own feelings when making those decisions. With the constant trouble of trying to decide if she really wants to be with somebody who does bad.

Why is it that us girls always seem to fall for the bad guy? Well it's because we want some excitement in our lives, and believe me Gideon brings the excitement. The unique twist to other romantic, teen triangles out there today is the authors approach to angels. In this story there are 2 angels that look over her but they are called Grandinians and Grantinians. But Abigail is no regular human being either. There is a huge inner struggle that she goes through trying to make the best decisions in this story and the reader will never quite know what direction she is going to go.
There were a handful of parts where I thought that Abigail was over thinking things and I just wanted her to act on her emotions, but it was also interesting to see her thought process and how much unselfish thoughts she was considering before making rash decisions. I think that people who enjoyed reading L. Weatherly's Angel Burn may enjoy this book as well.
Product Description
It's a very thought provoking book and you will be challenge against the common idea that angels represent good, and therefore are only good. I liked the set up, and it had just the right amount of characters. However, there was lots of room for improvement. I think the book could have used more details descriptions to make us feel like we're really there. Smells, textures, and sounds would have enhanced the realism.
Similes to things that the author thought up would have helped as well. One other thing I would have added is more transition scenes. It feels like we're jumping from scene to scene as though we were watching a movie or tv-show. While it is okay for a video medium, for a book it is a bit lacking.
A book relies entirely on the reader's imagination, so by not using all of the writer's tools to tell a story one only deprives the story of its true potential. On a side note, the characters could have been developed a bit more. We're only told that they are this way, but a back story would help readers connect to characters more.
The heroine female main character is the only one with a back story. Since this story is also told from another point of view, it would not make sense to leave out the male lead's back story unless written purposefully, which I didn't feel it was. Some of my favourite authors add back stories for side characters in such a way the reader doesn't feel they are drowning in boring details.
We are given just enough information by what the characters say, do, think , and others say about them, so that we can piece together their full story on our own. I thought this was an excellent story of a new series and felt the story of these angels was refreshingly new. To view it, click here. When i first started Dominion, i was actually kind of worried that the actual book itself won't live up to the cover. The cover of this book is officially my favourite book cover of the year, I felt that not only was the cover very captivating, but it also reflects the actual story itself really well. Most "nice" covers nowadays normally don't really have much to do about the novel, however i felt that this cover really fits in with the story.

I feel that it portrays Abigail really well as a "Damsel in Distress", almost like torn in the middle of love or a battle. The way Tristen and Gideon are placed, worked really well with their background. Tristen being the more "angelic" angel is floating an a more "brighter and lighter" part of the grass, whereas Gideon, who is supposedly the "dark and bad" angel is floating on a more darker and gloomier side with his dark clothes and wings immediately giving me a sense of danger.
Nonetheless, both of the guys are proudly looking at Abigail with a sense of longing. This immediately gives me the impression that there is a love traingle with both guys who are more than worthy for her. However, the handprints of blood on her dress, the tears streaming down her face, the bow and arrow she's carrying, the sword that Gideon is holding and the fire in the background tell's me that there is much more to this rather than just love.
Fallen Angel’s Dominion CD
As you can see, the cover gives a lot of information about the novel itself, making it more intriguing. As much as i hate to admit it, i hate prologues. So i literally sighed when i saw that there was a prologue to this book. In my opinion, i just think that they are pointless and just confuse the reader before they even start the book. Therefore, when i first started reading this book, i just felt like the prologue didn't flow very well with the book. Although I understood the prologue when i read on, i just felt like maybe it would've been better if the prologue was more about Tristen's and Gideon's past.
Or like a tale about the Moon and the Sun. So minus the prologue, i felt that the story flowed really well. It wasn't really hard to get into. In fact, as i read on, i found myself not wanting to put the book down!! I actually tried to think of any flaws or improvements that need to be made in this book but not surprisingly, i could not find ANY! This book was truly amazing and definitely lives up to the cover! The romance in this book made me squeal into my pillow and sometimes it also made me really agitated when her feelings were mixed up!
Surprisingly, i found that my most favourite character in this book was actually Valoel. I actually despised her a bit a first, however as the novel progresses and i see what her intentions really are and how she is feeling, the portrayal of her turns from an annoying sister to a admirable and very thoughtful angel. Abigail was also pretty admirable.
In fact, i really do sympathise her. At such a young age, she's already experienced many un-thinkable things. I'm actually pretty upset that she has to live with that "sin" now. The one thing i hate to admit in this book is that it made me VERY emotional. I cried so much at the accident with her Dad and when she was arguing with him. And then the thing with Tristen and Gideon at the end was very heartbreaking and yet again put me into tears. Sadness, hope, love, jealousy, heart-broken, aggravated and happy. Those were all the emotions this book made me feel.
There was actually probably more. I love it when books are really un-predictable! And let me tell you guys, this book is completely un-predictable!! The only thing i was actually sure was that Gideon and Abigail were perfect together. The ending shocked me so much! Literally, my mouth went: Seriously, expect the un-expected in this book. The only other negative thing i can say about this book apart from the prologue is the bleeping cliffhanger at the end!!! How could you do this to us Melody? Waiting for the 2nd book is going to be pure torture!
