It makes a nice change from super humans fighting invading aliens who want to take over earth and there are a lot of those stories around.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy going science fiction read.

It has a perfect blend of story line without the exhausting environment descriptions that some writers fall into. You grow to enjoy the playful banter between Carson and Roberts as they progress through their journey and even gain an appreciation for the environment in which their journey had taken place. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in the series!
While, certainly not hard Science Fiction my preferred type , The Chara Talisman is an enjoyable read. It contains adventure, describes intriguing alien vistas and reveals a few surprises, while maintaining continuity with previous related T-Space works.
