Pearl Island

There are a large hotel and other cabins available. Most of the resort workers live on nearby Isla Saboga. In , the Shah of Iran briefly took exile on Isla Contadora. Isla del Rey has several towns, most notably San Miguel. It is easily larger than the other Pearl Islands combined, and is the second largest island in Panama, after Coiba. Strong currents, combined with shallows and jagged reefs surrounding the island, make navigation near the island perilous.

It was the biggest and reportedly the most significant geological event in 60 million years. We went on a 9 day cruise on Grandeur of the Seas, we elected this excursion in Nassau. We arrived at the island and it was beautiful, room welcome pictures and gave them to us free of charge. Had a wonderful lunch with BBQ chicken I would go back to this island over and over again. The snorkeling sights were phenomenal! Relaxing on the beach for the rest of the day was perfect. The lunch served was okay. I just didn't like the offerings but the quality was good. We thought we would give it a try because we had been every where else. Boy did we stumble on a hidden gem.
