Their c Originally posted at: Their collusion leads to them becoming closer, but are either of them seriously interested in the other, or are they just enjoying themselves? Although a regency romance, the characters in this books were not the usual type for this period. More outgoing and natural they were not hung up by the inhibitions of the period. Beatrix was a lovely lady who had her mind set on her independence, while Simon wanted to have his cake and eat it too. I won't say which one, if either, won as this would spoil the plot. The fast pace and the fun between the two main characters, plus the typecasting of the lesser characters, makes this well worth a read even if you don't normally love regencies.
Feb 17, Secretly Reading rated it liked it Shelves: I liked the leads here but the set up involving Bea needing to recover an artifact was beyond contrived.
It's hinted that the artifact brings the leads together and I didn't like this. Still, the romance is surprisingly sexually and emotionally intimate so that redeemed the novella for me.
