Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Well told and it is written as it was told. So many of these stories lag - this is historical reality, no unneeded drama - it tells the tale well and upon finishing - it moves into another. I find it hard to put down, and harder to check the page number to find I am so near the end. Excellent review of Marine Corps history without getting lost in too many details. The honor and the sacrifice are brought to the readers' attention quickly and throughout.
This book is a good, comprehensive overview of Marine Corps History. Like most histories, it isn't titillating, but for those interested in the Marine Corps, and how it got to be the premier military organization it is today, this would be a "must read. One person found this helpful.
Best book on the Corps I've read in a long time. Should be on every Marine's bookshelf.

This is good history and a worthy read. I would highly recommend if you are a history buff and want to know more about the Marine Corps. I am an a avid student of history and have read many other authors. I loved the subject matter being a retired Marine. See all 17 reviews.
