AL and Joanna Lacy are authors of this, the third book in the orphan train trilogy. Whispers in the Wind details the tragic events that leave children orphaned with nowhere to go except the alleys of NYC, as well as their triumphs in life later on. Very well written and that it is hard to put down once I started to read it.

It shows a lot of facts of what took place in our earlier times. I picked up the first book at a book giveaway. When I was finished reading I was excited about reading the series. I found this book at a great price. The book arrived rather quickly as I am stationed in Germany. It is in great condition. Can't wait to sit with a good blanket and cup to tea. Little Orphan Millie

The boma is right next to the stables, separated only by a fence. The elephant herd had not yet returned from their day out on the reserve, but were due back soon. There was no doubt that they would smell and hear the new baby. She was quite vocal, and as the sedation quickly wore off she paced around the room.

She soon found a weak link in our haystack barrier, and forced herself into the space. The herd returned and as usual made themselves comfortable, feeding on their freshly cut leaves and branches.

About two hours later we decided to move the calf into the shed with the lucerne. After preparing and baby-proofing the shed, we led the baby elephant out of her temporary boma. While passing Fishan, Bubi and Zindoga, they started trumpeting and became much more inquisitive about the young elephant in their space. The young calf between us also did her fair share of trumpeting in response! Although it took just seconds, it felt like ages before we got to the shed and closed the door with bails of hay again.

We were gratified when the baby elephant ate the bana grass we offered and which she seemed to love! Top Reviews Most recent Top Reviews. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase.

I couldn't wait to see how it ended, and at the same time was sorry it was finished. This is a wonderful start to the story of Dane Weston and all he goes through in his 15 years. You fall in love with the character and cannot wait to get to the Frontier Doctor Series, which is all about his life over a span of time.

I had read the first 2 books in this trilogy at my local library, but they never did get volume 3. I love books about the early days of our country and this whole series was very interesting. I highly recommend this book! My kids appreciate the parents and count their blessings after reading this book
