I started the Annie's People series, I realized immediately why I so enjoyed her books so many years ago. Her style of Amish storytelling is incredible and pulls you right into the Amish way of life.

Book one stayed with me until I finished it and then truly couldn't wait to start book two and I am currently on book three. The first of the two books that I have read recently has gave me a wonderfully warm return to continue to the next book. I I recently started to read Beverly Lewis once again. Lou is embracing the Amish and their ways. Will Lou be back or will she leave. Beverly Lewis - Here a review but you are one of my favorites authors. Jul 24, Toni rated it it was amazing. This book picks right up where the first book left off. Lou is still living with Annie's family. Annie has made a deal with her father not to paint. I think the first night that I picked this book up, I read half of it and finished it within a couple days.

Once again a lovely book from Beverly Lewis. Oct 11, Mary rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: Second book of Annie's people series. Scene is an Amish community but there is mystery. And the cute guy on the cover is part of the mystery which is not answered in this book but adds more to the mystery and questions surrounding the mysterious events that happened 16 years prior. I'm reading the third book now! Dec 18, Ashley rated it liked it. From my book review blog: I have a lot of the same feelings about this book as I did the first book of this trilogy. Lewis's writing can be a little boring or a little too "goodie-two-shoes" sometimes, but I know that going into her books. I wish some of the characters were a little more real.

They just don't hook me like some of the other authors I enjoy. In this second book of the series "Annie's People," Lewis focuses mostly on her rel From my book review blog: In this second book of the series "Annie's People," Lewis focuses mostly on her relationship with an English guy, Ben Martin. Along with that struggle, she focuses on Annie's continual confusion about whether or not to join the Amish church. The sub plot in this novel focuses on Annie's friend, Esther, and the troubles she has with her husband and family after claiming salvation.

And the sub, sub plot is that a thing? The reader still hasn't been told directly who is responsible for the death or disappearance of the boy. The plots are interesting enough that I am going to read the last book of the series, "The Brethren," but my main interest in these novels is mostly in looking into Amish culture. It's always been interesting to me, and since Beverly Lewis's heritage actually traces back to the Amish, I think she's a pretty credible source. I may have a more definite answer about whether or not I would recommend these books after I finish the last one.

Having read the first book in this trilogy, I was prepared for the story not to have closure. Although I felt answers to quite a few things this time that I did not have at the end of "The Preacher's Daughter". Beverly Lewis is a good writer. And I'm so looking forward to the true answer of what happened to little Isaac. The Englisher deals with the subject of battered wives. Given the strong belief, part of the Ordung, that the husband is head of the family and makes ALL the rules, etc.

I can imagine how easily it would be for a man to start believing that his word is more than just that.

Add a bit of temper or a psychological issue I highly recommend this book although I do believe you would enjoy it more if you read the first one before reading this one. Also be aware that the books do not truly stand alone. There is too much left that is not known until you have completed all three books.

Annie's People

It was hard to get through at first, having the main character be so ignorant to the truth about having a personal relationship with the Lord Her people believe it is prideful to consider yourself saved. I am eager to read the last book, and to those who are hesitant to read on after The Preacher;s Daughter It was definitely worth it. On to the last book I go!

This was a smooth wholesome read about the Amish told in a simple manner. I really liked the characters and am somewhat fascinated by their way of life, although I could never make it being Amish. They are not allowed to express themselves in an artistic way. They are not allowed a higher education, nor are they allowed to read books for pleasure. The women are subservient to the men. I don't have a submissive bone in my body.

The Englisher

The narration was superb. I listened to this one. It was read by Aime This was a smooth wholesome read about the Amish told in a simple manner.
