Aftermath (A Hennessey and Yellich Mystery)
True to form, the members of Hennessey's team doggedly search for a common thread uniting the five. While characterization isn't one of the books strong points, the unpredictable story line builds to a surprising closing twist. In Aftermath, Hennessey and Yellich, along with their colleagues Carmen Pharaoh, Thomson Ventnor, and Reginald Webster, are caught up in the grisly investigation of five bodies found chained together and in varying degrees of decomposition in the kitchen garden of a local estate.
But as the investigation continues, Hennessey and company find frustration at every turn until a bizarre connection among the victims turns up.

The whole book just seemed to go from one set of characters that possibly might have killed these women to the next set.
The character desriptions were good.

Maybe because it was in England, I 'm not sure. I will say the ending was a surprise, but the book just didn't flow easily to read. An interesting book as it followed the search for information and deductions for the perpetrators of a series of killings. It also showed how this was made more difficult by the widespread locations of the crimes.

But when discovered, the connection is unique, It is not something I have come across in another series. Peter Turnbull writes, unfailingly, books that will capture the reader. The main characters are likable, decent people, who could live next door. There is no overt violence; it all happens off page. Just take one on the next visit to the library, and a fan will be born.

Is it the type of protagonist? I am drawn to police procedurals and books with private or amateur investigators. Unfamiliar locations carry the plus of teaching about cultures and customs.
