Jimmys Game (Ruthless Series Book 1)

Alex knows he can speak fluently in Hebrew, a language he has never learnt, as well as having the power to heal even the terminally ill. At first his mum assumed it was all a dream, making her reluctant to talk about, or acknowledge what he said.

Jimmy's Game

With his help, Megan slowly begins to come to terms with just how powerful and dangerous her sons newly acquired gift is. The knock on effect is overwhelming for all but him. The London underworld has accelerated as a haven for drugs, sex trafficking and murder since the arrival of ruthless European bosses.

Teaming up with Billy has paid dividends; they are now the proud owners of two clubs, both of which are bringing in good money. As they expected over time with success comes trouble, but George is no longer the dedicated Detective. Anyone who thought they wouldn't be ruthless enough has been proven wrong.

However, none of them foresaw the devastating knock on effect his action would have, one that would see him fighting for his own life. Reluctant to call in the local police after several high ranking officers are implicated, they take the law into their own hands. Vito is like a walking time bomb after a terrible tragedy strikes the Ramon family. No dependants other than two guinea pigs called Gloria and Deloris yet they never seem to have any spare cash to spend on themselves.

No money and little to no romance is all part of their mundane daily routine. Linda knows to save him she must find Angel. Although she wants the baby, she is suspicious that Vito is visiting a dominatrix again. Unable to involve anyone else, she plays detective which almost costs her life and her status in the Ramon family.

They have to stay one step ahead to avoid a war between crews. Jimmy is a London mobster and the author doesn't hold back with his character. He gets his hands dirty and commits all sorts of violence. A lot of the book isn't even romance, but crime drama.

Even while I was cringing at some of the subject matter. I was This really felt like 2 books in 1. I wasn't too interested in Maria the first half of the book. She was a big-time victim, though it wasn't her fault.

See a Problem?

Sold to a bad man at the age of 15, all she knew of men was abuse. Jimmy had a thing for her so he bet her owner in a card game. There was problem after problem, but finally they overcame all that halfway through the book. The second half of the book was more interesting. Maria has gained confidence and happiness, but Jimmy's long-buried childhood demons are resurfacing and causing him to sabotage their relationship.

At the end of the book, it's clear that there's a lot more story to tell and I can't wait to read the next book in the Ruthless series.

I just could not get interested in this book with all the inner dialogue, every POV, and so much detailed information. I got bored and frustrated. Oct 06, Melanie Lewis rated it did not like it. I cannot understand how anyone could think that a supposedly saved sex slave, who ends up marrying a murdering thug who has no problem with both hitting and raping her is an uplifting story.

The prose was weak and childish. I counted over 60 times when the phrase; "They all laughed", or similar permutation , was used. This book gets 1 star for managing to con so many people into believing it's worth reading. There were so many "they all laughed" I wish it was more conversational instead of describing characters feelings. May 08, Whitney rated it it was ok Shelves: Insert -Snatch- movie characters here. The dialogue was really messy being back and forth, i think because it wasn't distinguished properly. I'm not sure if it was the heavy accent but i would often get thrown off on who was speaking and although there was Rarely a dull moment, sometimes i just got bored with so much conversation and backstory. As far as my emotions during this crazy long ride- just raw. Also pretty grossed out at some points and i've read some dark shit. I was confused how the plot climaxed so soon and then moved on to another plot and then yet again. I was also a little frustrated with the formatting of the dialogue as well. It was distracting and I had to re-read passages to figure out who was saying what. At times there was also a lot of info.

The story was highly entertaining and kept my attention, but the characters became annoying and I actually disliked the hero in the end. I love a controllin This read like three stories in one.
