Even the canines are characters, as Peppi the runaway and Susie the lap-swimming bloodhound show personalities of their own. But the guardian angel, a Johnny Depp lookalike who shows up at the most inconvenient time, offers not only another humorous aspect to the story, but also a delightful punch line at the end.

While romance definitely takes a front seat in Barbour's latest novel, His Devious Angel will also captivate readers with suspense, family drama, themes about social justice, and nicely paralleled story lines that keep the reader engaged from page one to "The End. Mimi has a way of telling a story that will have you laughing out loud and rooting for the characters as you are reading. Even though this is the second in the series, each one can be read as a stand alone book. If you enjoy reading about angels or puppies you will enjoy this story containing both.

Liam is an elite member of the Special Forces who has been sent home to recover after encountering a horrible battle in Iraq. While he is trying to learn how to stop the nightmares he has to decide whether he wants to retire or reenlist his services. How can he make such a huge decision when he can't even be near his childhood home without reliving hated memories of that childhood.

Sadie is finally living on her own, though she still works in the family business she no longer has to live with her overbearing mother and sisters. As far as Sadie is concerned, men are idiots and she doesn't have the time nor interest for any of them. Her mother and sisters are so determined to find a guy for her that she tries to avoid them as much as she can.

Speeding through town without a care of what happens Liam is shocked to see someone else sitting in his car. Now he's seeing visions and hearing voices telling him to slow down. Imagine his surprise when his ghost turns out to be an angel trying to help, but it's a little too late as Liam looks up to see a toddler in the street. Sadie is out for a jog and notices the child going into the street and before she knows it, she is following him. Swooping him into her arms she's still to late to avoid Liams car.

The child is unharmed, but not Sadie. Liam is determined to get her help, but she won't go anywhere with him. He finally gets her to let him take her to her mother who is a nurse--and the last place she wants to be. Since she has to spend time with her family she want to make him pay, but it backfires. Her mom talks him into walking the dogs for Sadie thinking it will be a walk in the park.

She really loves all of her charges as if they were her own. She is out for a run when she spies a little boy in trouble and darts in to rescue him from being hit by a car. The car's driver was always in a hurry to get no where but injuring a young woman was the last straw for Liam's life. It had moments of suspense which I loved , the dogs also loved and funny moments between Sadie and her family. This book had me surprised a couple of times, good surprises though. Sadie was quite the leading lady. I just wanted to hug her and tell her everything is ok and tell her you should be happy with who you are. I could relate well with the things she struggled with and why she had issues with men an I really enjoyed reading His Devious Angel, book 2 in the Angels with Attitudes series.

But he surprised me, turned out he was a hero a couple of. It was lovely watching the two of them come together and realize that they were perfect for each other. Then as we get deeper in the story begins to unfold the problems both had when they were younger and it gets kinda emotional there for a bit and on top of it all they must work together to solve a dog napping!

What a wonderful romance! Home from combat, Liam is struggling with his inner demons - in this case his inner angel. Along comes Sadie, the dog walker among her many talents. A collision triggers their meeting, and to compensate for his carelessness, Liam takes over her dog walking chores, prompted by his unexpected angelic visitor. I read this book in two sessions. Fast paced and clever, I was entertained from beginning to end, worried that Liam w I had the pleasure of reading His Devious Angel!

There's an angel with an attitude, a heartfelt love story of Sadie and Liam--both having way too more baggage than anyone should have--and a story of how families really do count and how rekindling lost family bonds and love can be so very rewarding. This is a meaningful and light-hearted read.

Liam O'Brien is shocked when an angel pops into his car to complain how fast he is driving when he ends up hitting a woman who saves a boy from his car. Desperate to make it up to her he agrees to help her with her dog walking business while he is not serving his country as a soldier.

As Liam begins to help Sadie Bertolli is a dog walker who also teaches yoga and volunteers at a care home. As Liam begins to help Sadie some of the dogs begin to go missing and they have a mystery on their hands. Will they be able to find out what is happening with the dogs before they find themselves in their own trouble? This was a fun mystery with some romance thrown in as well!
