Lucians early memories where quite interesting. Lucian is once again a typical Carpathian male, tough, stoic, fearless and uncompromising, except for his lifemate. Jaxon, his lifemate could not have been better chosen for him. I have read and reviewed this book previously but review is missing. Never a hardship to reread this series. Lucien and his twin brother Gabriel are among the oldest of the surviving Carpathians at something over two thousand years old.
Thought dead or turned vampire for the last few centuries. When Lucien sought to trick Gabriel into ending his life in the previous book, Francesca Gabriel 's lifemate sensed his lifemate was out there and in great danger, and so saved his life. Jaxon's life has been one tragedy after another, with the deaths of everyone she ever cared about at the hands of a series killer. She is on a crack police team and when they are caught in an ambush Lucien arrives in time to save them all. See all 4 reviews. Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon.
Where does it say that a cop and a Carpathian can not come to an agreement? It takes communication and lots of patience but it can done. However; when your stalker comes calling you had better be prepared or things can and will go wrong. He was great, of course he was a dominant alpha, but so tender, loving and patient with her. And so romantic too, I mean decorating his home as per the images he had picked from her mind, and the ending he gave her was perfect. Jaxson for the most part was my kind of heroine: I loved reading about how she adapted about now being Carpethian and using her new powers.
Jaxso does experience desire for the hero, but with moderation and never in a demeaning sort of way. And most importantly to me, there is a lot of the hero's point of view throughout the book, what he is feeling, thinking etc. Yes, there are the inevitable graphic love scenes, but if you are like me, you can skip some of those pages, for the rest of the story is too fabulous to miss. However, there were a few things I did not like.
I did not say the book was perfect, but rather that I loved it. For starter we have a very tiny heroine yet again. Secondly, I know in the animal world the male of the species, has the longer feathers, the nicer mane, but in the human world, I like for the woman's hair to be longer, or at least as long as the he.
Trivial I know, but I am writing about my personal likes in my reading material. Also I love when the heroines are very in touch with their Amazonic side, but I rather they be femenine and elegant, instead of somewhat of tomboy as Jaxson is althoughe she is femenine in her own sort of way.

And finally what bothered me the most was the heroine's self image, though she was supposed to be beautiful she does not think she is. And worse she does not think she deserves him, because he is so gorgeous that he deserves someone who unlike her is tall, beautiful and elegant.
That was a big turn off for me. Not the mental pictures I want. I gues one cannot have every fantasy fulfill in a book. Still all in all, this book was really wonderful. This book will pull on all of your heartstrings with the perfect love of this particularly amazing couple!
Dark Series
I have read every single one of the books of this particular series and I have come back to this particular book, because, it's all about this amazing Carpathian man who has held out from the darkness to his soul in order to keep his twin brother from turning into the dreaded vampire, that is wholly evil!!! When his twin brother has finally found his own personal lifemate, he feels that he has done his duty to his people and his twin brother and finally seeks rest, but at the last moment, his twin brother's lifemate recognizes that Lucian had been tricking his twin to keep him from turning into a vampire and his sister-in-law has recognized that Lucian has not fallen in with the vampire and she, being a phenomenal healer says that Lucian has a lifemate and that he must hold out for her to grow up to be the woman who will finally restore emotions and colours to his heretofore bleak existence and when she has done all of these things, he is finally a believer that he has been gifted with a wonderful lifemate of his own!!!
I've loved reading this particular book many times and I know that I will read it many more times because it really does make you feel like you're right there with them on their journey to become one!!! I absolutely must recommend that you get this particular book and series for your own personal library and when you do this, you will find yourself curled up in your favourite chair reading about all of these amazing people are wishing that you were there too!!!
Happy Reading to all of you that have the perfect sense to get this complete set of this series and you will be reading every single one of these books to this end and then you will be waiting for the next installmemt with Bated breath to continue reading about how this unique and creative writing style of the most talented author of Christine Feehan and make sure that you leave your 5 star rating, because that is what it deserves to let others know about this awesome series really is that great!!!!
While the forced relationships have put some of my friends off the magical binding of psychic women to Carpathian men I have really enjoyed the world. Do yourself a favour though. Start at the beginning. I was gifted Book 19 by a friend and didn't realise until I went looking for more and book 19 wasn't a favourite once I got into it.
Dark Guardian has everything - good guys, bad guys, really sad moments, really scary moments, really funny moments. A man who just takes charge and a tiny woman who challenges him and stands by his side in a fight.
