Valens Revenge - Urban Fantasy, Book 3 (The Valens of Legacy)
In the first novel we saw Jemma slowly building up to the realization that she had a larger portion in life than she'd been giving herself and I suppose I was hoping that that new life was going to include Hawke. It really does include Hawke but not as closely as I was hoping. This book seems to be more a story centered around Declan and his anguish over having lost Miranda in such a violent way.
His anger and vengeance toward Grant who taunts him with the knowledge that as a Manticore he had killed Miranda by swallowing her whole. This story is also about Hawke and about Misty and their position in Jemma's organization. But I seems that since she has had to take the helm, that fact hamstrings her characters involvement in the real action in this novel.
It's all understandable, though. Riding herd over the Valens and other associates while trying to wage war on Gruen, Astrid and Grant is taking all of Jemma's time and energy. That doesn't include the worry and decision she must face about the Humani abominations that Gruen is making using the blood of Valens who are unaware of what they are. The stakes are getting higher and the Humani are becoming more intelligent and dangerous.
Jemma is proving to become a fast learning leader.
Valens of Legacy Series in Order - Sherrel Lee - FictionDB
One thing in this type of fiction is that the higher the rank the protagonist gets the less effective or exciting they become as a tool drive the plot. Everyone wants to keep the Generals protected and away from the fighting. Jemma will fight this but in this story she mostly shows up as the leader while those around her are thrust into the fray of the action. I love how this story examines the inner workings of the evil Cerberus organization.
The infighting and the revelations that come out regarding the real pecking order. There's lots of reveal in this novel and the novel is well paced. I read this at one sitting and I'm enthusiastically waiting for the next book. Hats off to a job well done, Sherrel Lee, in making the transition from Jemma Nix the orphan to Jemma Nix the leader and keeping the story interesting and exciting.
I can't imagine where things will lead to next. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes Paranormal and Mythical adventures and even Sci-Fi. Probably not so much recommendation for those who need there SF to be hard as in well explained. Aug 23, Cindy rated it really liked it. I was given the book by LoP in exchange for an honest review. In this story Jemma is adjusting to her new life, her legacy and begins to become a true leader. Jemma , Hawke and the rest of her team from Legacy are again facing unknown danger.
Jemma is taking the leader role so she is less involved in the battles. Which I hope would not happen. I also hope her and Hawke would be closer in more than a work relationship. This story involves Declan , Hawke and Misty. With Delcon it is his dealing wit I was given the book by LoP in exchange for an honest review.
With Delcon it is his dealing with the loss of Miranda and the violent way she died and the vengeance this has caused. You also learn more about Cerberus.
You learn like in any organization there is inner turmoil in the organization that needs to be resolved. The characters are more developed and this story like the others keeps you wanting more. I would recommend reading Valens Rise then Valens Remember. This was a great story and would recommend. I give it 4 battle Angels Apr 05, Jonel Boyko rated it liked it. This story starts out very well. Lee gives all of the necessary background information and jogs your memory as to what happened in the first book of the series without rehashing the entire story.
Also, the bioengineering behind this story is really scary. You can see the possibilities which makes it all the more real. By jumping between the perspectives of various different char This story starts out very well. This instalment is a story that pulls you through the action with a great deal of dialogue. It by far outweighs the narrative. In this novel Lee reintroduces a great deal of the cast from the first instalment in the series with little further development as to their personas.
They remain the same individuals with no miraculous personality change and it is very easy to see who they are from their actions in the previous book.

However, the relationship between the two main characters in the first instalment of the series seems to have all but disappeared in this novel with little to no explanation. It did leave me a bit perplexed. The new characters who are introduced in this novel are quite well developed and add a unique outlook on the events. Each and every character in this novel, be they old or new, is unique. And not just in name but in personality and characteristics as well.

This is a short novella. It is the prequel to Valens Rise. This novella fills in some of the background to help with the other stories in the series. This novella is filled with action, intrigue, treachery. After reading this I wanted to read the reset of the series to see where she is leading you and what is going to happen to the characters. I would highly recommend this book. I was given a copy of the book by the author in exchange for a review I was given this book in exchange for an honest review for LoP It was interesting, lots of mystery and drama that will lead you to the first book i couldn't put it away, now onto valens rise.
I truly enjoyed the story line but there were a few spelling or grammar mistakes. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This is the prequel to the series. I enjoyed Sherrel's writing style. It was very easy to get through and I loved the characters.
I didn't like the fact that I got so invested in Larinda's character only for her to die at the end. I like my main characters to live.
I know that it was setting up the series, but I really liked Larinda! The concept of the Valens is really cool and unique. I don't think I've ever read a book where people could change into yetis and unicorns. It was a breath of fresh This is the prequel to the series.
Valens Revenge
It was a breath of fresh air. I'll definitely continue with the series. I have Valens Rise on my shelf already. I recommend this book to people looking for a new paranormal experience. Dec 23, Frances Shellings rated it really liked it. Surprising Starts and ends with death Would have liked to see them reunited Hoping for a twist and that the death was faked to save herself Can't wait to see how Jemma develops because she's already a tough cookie from her childhood and adolescents Keeping fingers crossed that it turns out happy. Jun 18, Levia rated it it was amazing.
Two sisters who were separated as young children lead vastly different lives. There is a conspiracy that has killed the oldest's parents, both birth and adoptive, and seeks to eliminate her. The youngest is living on the street and trying to make a life for herself. It was very engaging and sad.

I am not sure if I missed the first book, because I was over halfway through with this before I figured out what Valen's were and even finishing it I never understood why they were hunted. Oct 07, Laurie Hopkins rated it really liked it. Interesting story The ending left me without words and many questions.
Who is the traitor, how will they find Jemma, who is after the family. Thankfully I can just read the next book. I think this could have been a really good story but it seems the writer was in a hurry and couldn't be bothered with it. Shari Kohut rated it it was ok Jun 03, Lady S rated it liked it Apr 11,
