There are a few redeeming heartfelt moments with stories, but for f's sake, please create a "Quiet Please The Compressed Edition" into about minutes, so this film will become watchable. A competent B-noir, with the interesting twist of being set in a library. George Sanders' erudite villain is an oily delight; otherwise it's a somewhat overwrought collection of hard-boiled detective film cliches. Visit Prime Video to explore more titles.
