CÚRATE, BASED ON A TRUE STORY

It was coral and saffron that attracted the Humpis, Muntprat and Motelli families to Barcelona during the second half of the XIV century. In the first merchants of Upper Swabia and of the area of Lake Constance arrived in the city, turning it into one of the major commercial enclaves for the Ravensburger society. Traders from Ravensburg and Constance were actually among the first Germans in doing business with the Iberian Peninsula. The present exhibition accompanies the viewer through the different historical neighbourhoods of the fifteenth centuryBarcelona, exploring their riches, but reflecting also the difficulties that these families had to overcome.

A very interesting historical portrait of the dialogue between two societies. Two men hanging in the air and ready to jump into the swimming pool under the seriousness and responsibility required by the script. At the very beginning, everything goes as planned, but all of a sudden, the actors of this history feel the necessity of revolting against it.

Between one jump and the other, they start imposing their own rules, creating all sort of comic situations which would lead them to invent their proper show. Acrobatics, balances, jumps challenging gravity, all sort of object manipulation and a high dose of humor and wits integrate Collage.

The exhibition brings together the works of five artists: Their works demand a deeper look from the viewer to see beyond what is apparent at first glance. Does Catalonia get fair fiscal treatment? The debate deliberately mixes concepts relating to the regional financing system, the economic benefits of secession, and the difference between what a region puts in and what it gets back. The issue, then, is not that a gap exists: And comparisons suggest that it is not. The situation in Catalonia is not very different from that of other Spanish or foreign regions with higher-than-average income levels. In recent years, Madrid and the Balearic Islands have had even bigger fiscal deficits than Catalonia.
