Whisper of Deceit

Like the Unseen, the goal of the evil Cult faction is to eliminate the members of the Blue Dragon and any neutral players that attempt to eliminate them. The Cult will only appear in games that have at least 11 players. At the start of a Cult game, one player will be assigned the class of Cult Leader and a second player will be a random Cult member. The Cult Leader can brainwash other players to join the Cult, turning them into a new class based on their original class type.

There can only be four members of the Cult at any one time, but the Cult Leader can sacrifice members of his own faction to replenish his abilities and open up space for another convert. There are twelve different neutral classes in Throne of Lies each with their own unique objective. While classes such as the Reaper , Possessor , Sorcerer , Inquisitor and Scorned must eliminate other players; the Fool , Mercenary , Sellsword and Alchemist have different aims like dying in an execution, winning with another faction or being basically a Blue Dragon aim.

Throne of Lies attempts to further evolve the social deduction genre with two new dynamics. At the start of every game, one player is assigned the class of King. His highness can radically alter the game with an additional vote during executions and the ability to completely veto the results. He will always be player number 1, and have a gold name when he sends messages.

Because the King wields so much power, he is constantly under threat of assassination. He can also be poisoned by the Butler or voted up for treason. If the King is killed, players of the court can nominate themselves to take his place. Blue Dragon Killers and Investigative classes mostly cannot target the King, and neither the Cult nor Unseen is aware of his allegiance. In Throne of Lies , there are two distinct enemy factions: Before members of the Blue Dragon can eliminate the opposition, they must determine which faction they are up against.

Both the Unseen and Cult factions have the power to convert their enemies into allies. Even a trusted friend that has already been vetted by your abilities can become an enemy. The Blue Dragon must always be suspicious. The Unseen will always start the game with an Assassin and The Mastermind. The Cult will always have a Cult Leader and a second loyal subject.

The makeup of the faction will rapidly shift and evolve from there. There are 6 types to help understand a class without reading their abilities: In the Classic game mode, around eight to ten players will be members of the Blue Dragon. The Blue Dragon in the normal game mode is guaranteed to spawn The Prince , and at least one healer is guaranteed to spawn. I f the Unseen is in the game, they will spawn with an Assassin and a Mastermind. The Sheriff is spawned in these games. If the Cult is in the game, they will spawn with a Cult Leader and a random Cult member.

The Paladin is spawned in these games. The Prince is the most powerful Blue Dragon class , having the ability to imprison people during the night preventing all visits to them, but occupying them and try to find the bad guys and execute them. There is a maximum of two of a class spawning in any given game or as many as three for Blue Dragon classes , and in the case of Unique classes, only one can spawn. Classes that can be replaced, such as The Assassin , can result in more than two of a non Blue Dragon class existing by the end of the game, but only when they are alive at different times.

The casual game mode is very similar to the classic gamemode, but changes are made to what classes and factions may appear this game mode only appears in private games:. Each day within Throne of Lies is broken down into two phases: The game begins during the day. When the counter at the top of the screen reaches zero, the night phase begins. The game continues this way until the victory conditions are met.

Whisper of Deceit

While every player has abilities during the night, only some classes have day abilities. Regardless of class, each player may only use one ability per phase. Every player begins the game seated at the roundtable. The King will be revealed to everyone in the player panel at the right of the screen. Members of the Blue Dragon and neutral characters will not see the class of any other player.

Members of the Unseen or Cult will see who their allies are in the player panel. During the day phase, players can discuss their investigation, use their day abilities and accuse others of treason. At the beginning of ensuing day phases, players will learn which players were killed during the night. If the killer left a death note , that will also be revealed. Players can access these documents at any time via the player panel.

If the King does not survive the night or was executed for treason, the self-nomination process begins, and players who step up can be voted for by other players to become King. Votes for players with royal blood , such as The Noble and The Drunk , are counted as two. If there are multiple candidates for King, all players will vote on the next King.

If two consecutive votes are taken and no King is crowned, a power vacuum is created and there will be no King for the rest of the game. This can include killing members of the Blue Dragon or converting them to their faction. She must find a way back to her home, but will the house and its mystery let her leave?
