St Caroline Series
Hoping to distract her from her grief, they convince Cammy to go with them on a week-long retreat to St. Cammy grudgingly agrees, but finds herself immediately drawn to the island and an abandoned lodge in a way that opens up the possibilities of a new life, new loves and finding her way home. This touching, entertaining and emotionally powerful story speaks to the inner strength within us all.

I stumbled across it when it was marked down on Amazon, and I'm so glad I did - I've found a writer in Cynthia Lee Cartier whom I'll be eagerly reading in the future. Others have described the plot, so I'll just say that the characters are believable, the story is heartwarming and engaging, and the writing vividly places me in the locations Ms. I want very much to visit St. Gabriel and meet the main character because this novel reads as if it's the memoir of a living, breathing friend. I value my precious reading time too much to waste it on mediocre writing.
Cartier's writing is anything but mediocre - on the contrary, it is exceptional. It's a rare novel that keeps my attention and draws me in the way My Way Home has done. I feel I know and like the characters and the place, they are so expertly drawn.
Two of Hearts (St. Caroline Series Book 3) by Julia Gabriel
I forgot I was reading a novel another rarity and felt as if I were reading a friend's recollections of her actual experiences. This is not a novel on "how to restore an inn" - or anything cliched. It's real, it's positive, and it's a great read. One person found this helpful.

- See a Problem?!
Cammie's husband of 25 years has left her, and she's devastated. After crying non-stop for weeks, her daughter and her old friends arrange for her and three of her closest friends to visit St. Gabriel, an island community Cammie has always wanted to visit.
The visit is supposed to last a week, but right from the first day Cammie feels a strange sense of home. She spots an old lodge, closed and in disrepair, and falls in love with the property. She goes home to sell her house, and suddenly her husband wants to reconcile. That's just the beginning of this wonderful story; it takes off from there. I had to suspend my disbelief from the moment her husband asks to reconcile, but after that the rest of it was easy-peasy.
I cried through the last chapter or two; you would have to be an unfeeling fool not to. The author really painted her scenery very well and her characterizations were spot-on. I wished there were more to read. There are even recipes at the end! A lovely story written with sentiment and wisdom. The protagonist goes through a very harrowing time but comes out stronger and wiser. She takes a decision which few would contemplate and comes out the winner in personal strength.
A surprising twist at the end really round out a very well thought out and beautifully written story. No sex and or swear words were needed for the author to bring her tale to her appreciative audience. Cammy was married for twenty-five years when Race asked for a divorce. Her friends invite her to go with them to St. She has always wanted to see the retreat, but never allowed herself the time. Cammy falls in love with the island, and discovers an old lodge that has been vacant for a number of years. Everyone advises her against buying the abandoned lodge, but her heart is drawing her into it.
The book deals with overcoming hard times, by working out positive solutions with the possibility of rewarding results. Cammy has the personality fit for running the lodge. Cammy bought the house on money from selling her house. It is fiction indeed! But a fun read.

Dec 23, Lisa Ferrell rated it it was amazing. The sequel to My Way Home is a great continuation of life on St. There were a few times that Cammy's thirst for answers was bordering on rude, and that bothered me. I like having the answers too, but her questions and jumping to conclusions was too much. Otherwise, I really enjoyed getting to know everyone on a deeper level and I loved the prologue where we got a peek into Race's head.

Cynthia has had stories p Cynthia was born in Los Angeles and raised in northern California and Arizona. Cynthia has had stories popping into her head as long as she can remember and imagined her first story when she was five and later, at the ripe old age of eight, wrote it down and still thinks the story is tellable. While in school and later while raising a family, keeping a home and garden, and working as a designer and at a myriad of other jobs, Cynthia continued to write. My Way Home, the first in the St.
Gabriel series, was not the first novel Cynthia wrote, but it was the first one to be published.
My Way Home captured the hearts of readers who eagerly await additions to the St. In addition to novels, Cynthia has also written animation and live-action scripts, as well as children's stories.
