Written in a simple almost spoken style, it is a great way to practice reading in Spanish while also deepening one's knowledge of Mexican life in a small impoverished village called Iguala in the Mexican state of Guerrero. The second part is an account of how the same family emigrates to the US with the help of a coyote and the struggles they face trying to make it in Los Angeles.

Reyna Grande is a great writer. Her story is inspiring to not give up on your dreams. I bought the Spanish version because I want to improve my Spanish.
