In Danger Every Hour: A Civil War Novel
Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended! I really enjoyed this. The end didn't seem to be the end and not in the way of there being a sequel. It seemed like the author just stopped writing.

Even if I didn't know the outcome of the war, the reader would be saying there is no way that the north could have won. Then the author tied together who the visitor was but there were never any clues along the way so the reader wasn't involved in that story line and didn't rally care a This book would have gotten a higher rating if there seemed to be an end to the story.
Then the author tied together who the visitor was but there were never any clues along the way so the reader wasn't involved in that story line and didn't rally care about it. I did like the interwovenness of the historical facts into the story.
The battles did not bore my like I anticipated and I really liked learning about stonewall's Christian beliefs. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. It was definitely a memorable read that was clearly well-researched and well written. I was not overly familiar with the history of the American Civil War and I felt that I truly learnt a lot by reading this novel. A very strong 3 stars. It is a very realistic portrayal of the daily lives and tribulations of both Union and Confederate people. He introduced me to several battles I wasn't really familiar with, not unusual since there were so many overall. This is a really engrossing and entertaining and educational piece of work. If you enjoy reading about the real Civil War this one is for you.
Not a bad read, won't push killer angels off the high ground but still pretty good. The author should study cornwell for endings. Story line easy to follow. The turn of events were surprising to the point that I did not see them coming. I recently read In Danger Every Hour and was so overcome with the amazing history lesson that I did not have as a child growing up!

I literally felt like I was right there on the battlefield, as well as in the homes of the families that the author so eloquently portrayed. Charles Causey wrote about actual battles during the Civil War and had actual letters and telegrams that were written and sent by different Generals to President Lincoln. It gave you a clear picture of their real character and the thought processes of President Abraham Lincoln as he had to make decisions that would make or break all his efforts in winning the war for the North, and for the future unity of the United States of America!
The chapters were layed out in an easy to read style that kept you motivated to keep reading and wondering what would happen next!

In Danger Every Hour: A Civil War Novel
In Danger Every Hour captures the historic cultural mood of the Civil War through the wonderful use of period language, poetry and song. Additionally the structure of this novel clearly allows the reader to connect the strategic decisions made in the Capitols of Richmond and Washington DC, to the generals tents on the battlefield, to the soldiers in the trenches on the front lines of the bloody battles, and finally to the civilian family and friends back home.
The interconnectedness of stories, both political and personal, set this novel apart. This was my first civil war book ever read. It built up characters who grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and the character development continued throughout the book. I finished the book in two weeks. See all 8 reviews.
