Throughout the entire novel, lies and truth becomes a contributing factor.
They have these cute arguments: But then she learns throughout the novel, and decides to confide in him. This is good development. Just what I wanted. He starts to be more open with her, little things, but that's something. He's a jerk towards the end. But, as the reader it's awesome because you get an insight on how Barrons truly views emotion. He was still frowning at the cake, looking at it as if he expected it to sprout dozens of legs and begin scuttling toward him, thin-lipped, teeth bared.
He's a big TALL monster. Runs away from all the feels. There is no reason or logic. For those who haven't read the book, it's probably not a good idea for you to read this. Now that everything is clear. What the fuck was that ending. It was so painful to watch. I get why Mac wasn't able to do anything. I can see other reader's blaming her. But, really it's not her fault that it happened.
They were Gancanagh, or death by sex fae. These ones were much more determined than V'lane ever was with Mac. Bascially it was forced seduction. Which means that despite the fact that the Main Character doesn't want to have sex or hasn't said yes, they seduce her forcibly. It's another version of rape. Frankly, that's what this was. But it's not her fault. And I can't see why other reader's would even consider that it was her fault.
Even though after she wasn't able to resist them, she found pleasure, she didn't want it. It was sex that was life that was blood that was God that filled every empty orifice I had, inside and out. And it was killing me. And I knew it. And I had to have more. If you've read folklore about these creatures, they are one of the most fucking scary creatures in those damn books. The idea that you have no choice is scary.
The idea that you are seduced into something you don't want is scary. The idea that once they are gone, you are in agonizing pain and death is the only way you can escape it is fucking scary. I never want to know what rape is like. I think this is the worst type of rape you can experience. Moning scared the shit out of me. But while a lot of author's use rape as a device to make reader's feel pain, I don't think this was Moning's attempt.
I think she handled it well. She wasn't too graphic. She described what was happening without being gratuitous about it. She made sure that it wasn't just about the act, that there was deeper meaning and purpose to it. My hands are shaking. What's going to happen? But dude, what is with everyone wanting to know who Mac is sleeping with. Barrons wants to now. Christian wants to know. V'lane wants to know. It's like a big fucking circle that never ends. Who she sleeps with or doesn't sleep with is no one's damn business. Get over it guys.
This book is like putting your hand in snow and keeping it there for a few minutes until it burns. You take it out and it's got that nice pink color. It's cold, numb, and on fire. But, you hate it. And then you sit by the fire pissed off and you leave satisfied with a warm body part. This book has a huge ASS trigger warning for rape.
What are works?
It's at the very end of the book. While it was handled well, there is no doubt that victims of rape who are traumatized by this should stay away from that scene or this book.
It is not graphic, but vague. Even so, it may still be a trigger for you. View all 9 comments. Mac annoy me a little bit But Jericho Barrons makes the book interesting, so I have to read more! D First read and rate: Some parts were more fun, other parts were just plain.. Mac were just so annoying at times that I wanted to smack her, and there weren't much of my man Barrons, which made the book even more boring..
So yes, I had trouble rating it this time.. But I'm de Mac annoy me a little bit Second read and rate: The book started and went on with the usual projectile word vomit Moning loves, for a long while. Then came the last part with the shift in the relationship between Barrons and Mac.
And then that ending!!! Buddy read with my lovely ladies Jilly and Sleepless. View all 5 comments. Holy batshit crazy, things just took a complete degrees with that ending. Even though I more than enjoyed the second half of the book. There seems to be too much redundancy about too many things. The pissing contest between V'lane and Barrons was getting too much for me and because of that, I'm almost glad of the new plot development. Also side note, there is a great chance that you'd be majorly offended at a couple of subject matter.
I certainly got ticked off a couple of times, even though Holy batshit crazy, things just took a complete degrees with that ending. I certainly got ticked off a couple of times, even though Barrons would say that, "I was full of shit. I am gonna read the 4rth book, but I am not satisfied! View all 10 comments. Three freaking books in and we don't know anything.
Fae of various degrees of danger and friendliness? Mysterious goings on in Dublin? Magical items which need to be collected to prevent disaster? All kinds of frenemies for the heroine, forcing her to make lesser-of-evil choices between them? I feel like I should like MacKayla more than I do.
I should find Barrons more attractive than I do. I should find the end-of-life-as-we-know-it scenario more troubling than I do. That was some cliff-hanger at the end! But I guess it accomplished something—I put a hold on the next volume of this series at the library! If these endings continue, I may get pulled along further in the series just to see what happens.
One of the last books in my summer of fluffy reading, snuck in over the Labour Day weekend.
Ender S Game: Il Gioco Di Ender PDF Download - BevisBazza
As for the rest of the book, I was glad to see Mac become much more independent and bad-ass in this one. She's realized the only one she can trust is herself and she will take whatever information she can get from whomever she can get it from - Christian, Barrons, V'lane, or Rowena. This series is really really starting to grow on me. There hadn't been a series after Vampire Academy that had me this hooked.
The moment u finish one , u just can't wait to get your hands on another. Faefever like its predecessor, jam packed with suspense, snark and scheming. I like Mac's character. She love makeup and dressing nicely but she isn't vain. Most of the time u can find her busy being detective or scheming.
Barrons is mysterious as usual and until now we still don't know how the hell This series is really really starting to grow on me. Barrons is mysterious as usual and until now we still don't know how the hell he fit into the Fae World. But what I ultimately love most about this is the origin behind the Seelie and Unseelie Court.
That story is super haunting and build up the atmosphere perfectly. Times like this make me wants to wash my hands off YA. Not that YA is bad. But I craved a more deep and vast worldbuilding. I also crave an unlikely heroine like MacKayla who isn't ur usual goody two shoes YA heroine.
Apart from that ,her slow burn romance with Jericho Barrons is one of the reason I enjoy this series so much Only those who have already read the first few books in this series. On the other side is the Lord Master, once fae, now human and intent on ripping apart the world in his quest to retrieve his immortality. A lot happens plot wise in this novel and the war with the unseelie definitely ramps up, however the character development is at best glacial and at times regressive, which is incredibly frustrating and makes it very difficult to relate to the characters in a positive manners.
On the plus side the world building is great and the universe and how Moning has decided to frame it is a refreshing take on the genre. I didn't like this installment as much as the first 2 books in the series and figured this would probably be the last one I would read, but then that ending!! Totally unexpected, not sure I can now not read the next one!
Jul 27, Mrs. Third book of a Five Book Series, this was my least favorite. We learn very little. Mac is learning that she must not put all her eggs into a Barrons and V'lane basket. She illicit's the help of Inspector Jayne after opening his eyes Third book of a Five Book Series, this was my least favorite. She illicit's the help of Inspector Jayne after opening his eyes to what is really going on in Dublin. I want to give this book 5 stars. The writing is fantastic, the author is fantastic, the foreshadowing is bloody brilliant.
The characters are awesome. So why you ask do I give this book only 3. I wish I could tell you. We are left on a huge cliff, and I really hate when authors do that. Patience is not one of my reading virtues and waiting to see if a heroine or hero is OK is not a good way to end a book. It's downright mean especially when the crazy book fan usually has to wait a year for the next installment of a series. I really enjoyed Mac's growth in this book and I can't wait for the next book when she really comes into her own and is a formidable force.
Once again we are left with more questions than answers when it comes to the fever world, but I hope in DreamFever we will be rewarded for our patience with lots of answers and finally some Mac and Barrons 'action' I don't really know what to say right now!!! One of my friends called the ending "disgusting" another said she felt like she'd been "bitch slapped". I agree with both, I've been disgustingly bitch slapped"!!! This is definitely one time I'm glad to be a latecomer to a series, I would be most pissed off to be made to wait after an ending like that!!!
My 3 stars have I don't really know what to say right now!!! My 3 stars have nothing to do with the ending, I'll never deduct stars for a cliffhanger. I really like the protagonist she's really kickass and all. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Mac continues her search for the Sinsar Dubh, and continues to use her contacts to the best of her ability.
I actually found it a bit of a struggle to get through this book. There was a lot of recapping the events in the previous two books so much so that you could probably read this as a stand-alone novel if you wanted to , and Mac just seemed to be constantly whining about one thing or another.
The storyline in this book, once you managed to dig it out , was okay, if long-winded. My main complaint is just how long it took to get there! Unfortunately this book just dragged for me. The redeeming feature of this book was the ending. It just speaks volumes to me. Overall; this was okay, it moved the story along a bit, but the pacing was just too slow, and Mac is starting to get annoying. No way could I read the books in this series back to back.
I don't have much to say about this book. I actually had to slam the book shut and walk away at one point because I grew so flustered while continuing on with the novel. I'll break this review into three parts, and comment on each "part" in the novel. This was my least favorite of the three. I absolutely detested Barrons at this point and seriously question what the hell I was thinking when I gushed abo I don't have much to say about this book.
I absolutely detested Barrons at this point and seriously question what the hell I was thinking when I gushed about how infuriatingly sexy he was. This was also the point where all of Mac's musings--while refreshingly philosophical and advanced at first--started to grate on my nerves. I wanted her to think less, and for more to happen. Had some redeeming qualities. Barrons started to become bearable again, and I started being able to tolerate him and his bastard ways. The ending of this part, and the book, royally pissed me off.
I won't say much more about it because I don't want to spoil anything for readers. I officially feel that this device is overused in urban fantasy. Would like to see some different methods of the authors attempting to "break" the heroine. So the overall consensus? Kudos to the fans who actually had to endure the wait for book 4. Suffice it to say that view spoiler [ I. Plus Barrons is seriously getting on my nerves. He's abruptly hot, and then he's abruptly so cold: And stupid Mac just forgives him every freaking time!!!
I mean he freaking destroyed the cake she got for him. I was so surprised at that. I was really looking forward to some good relationship development between them. I'm sooo Suffice it to say that view spoiler [ I. I'm sooo mad about this. I don't know if any other readers out there agree with me on this point or not. Other than that, the two-third of the book was exceptional and had me hooked! The last has left me annoyed. At the end of the book there was: Epic Battle that the book was leading up to: Reader barely sitting at the edge of her seat: Main character left all alone: The only reason this book still gets a 3.
View all 4 comments. By the end of this novel I felt as if I really knew Mac. I did find that this novel had a bit of a different feel from the first two of the series. There was a great deal of information that was important to the novel, but there were also times where I was simply a little bored. His actions and reactions have taken on a new meaning for me. The details were important to the overall plot of the series. Mac pussed me off immensely in this one. And shouting at books "shuttup already and move on!!! Plus it's the middle of the book, is it really nececery to reatale again and again things that happens in previous books?
It's not like someone who hasn't read the series will start with this one, so again, shuttup already! But the ending saved it, and I like the story, I wont to know what will happen next. I can shrug all day!!
