You could read them, trade them, collect them and there was always an abundance, most local stores had a comic book rack right next to the penny candy. As TV became more popular comic books became sparse.

Many characters from favorite comics became animated and you could watch them on TV. Comic book shops became necessary for those who still wanted to read about the adventures of their favorite characters. Yet, over time the comic book shops, where you could browse through your old favorites and check out the new talent, dwindled also. Comics in America have experienced a resurgence in recent years.

Yet the word "comic" doesn't adequately describe what is now the rage in the current culture. Christine Williamson of Enfield is a manga mahn-gah artist.

Manga is a Japanese form of cartooning which has spread wildly through the states. Williamson says, "Manga is ink on paper, static images, one after another. As a counselor, she is wonderful with one-on-one, special interests and special needs. Ellie is an avid first-aid enthusiast, and has taught first-aid skills to children and teens, both at camps and at the Hanover After School Program, where she was a counselor for 6 years.

As organized as she is, she has been a mainstay in the VerShare Cam p for 5 years. This year she is graduating from University of Vermont. She specializes in storytelling, cartooning, and child-friendly role-playing games, specifically Dungeons and Dragons , and has recently published her Young Adult fantasy novel, Katlyn Zinger and the Hornless Unicorn , as an e-book.

Last summer Christine added a new, live-action dimension to her creative storytelling game and incorporated our connection to the natural world by using a theme of the elements, fire, earth, air, and water , to bring the magic to life.
