Lesson in Lone Creek
The characters are well developed. I always look forward to each book as they carry the great characters over into them. I think they are like family. Nick Merrill is the fire fighter in the family full of adventure. That is until his friend dies in a fire. It is so hard for Nick to put it aside he takes a leave from being a smoke jumper. Goes back home to Lone Creek. Runs a errand for the ranch to deliver some flyers for the reach out program for kids at the ranch.
Then their is pushing and shoving in the hall and Sawyer is knocked to him losing his hold on the flyers goes everywhere. Do you believe in love at first site? Who is this kid calling Sawyer mom? Mary's books are always great. Gregarious Rose Lehman, who's always the life of the Amish youth singings, is determined to marry the bishop's son, Reuben Byler--until the handsome Army buddy of her future brother-in-law shows up in Lancaster County.
In comparison to Trevor, Reuben seems downright boring. Trevor shares Rose's sense of fun and adventure, and her easygoing disposition. When her sister Lila's buggy is rear-ended and Lila is horribly injured, Rose finds herself with more freedom than she's ever experienced.
Everyone is so concerned about Lila that no one realizes Rose is sneaking out with Trevor. But in his usual passive way, he doesn't confront her, nor does he address the situation with her Dat or anyone else in the district. Rose appreciates Reuben's discretion, but she also resents it. Part of her relishes the freedom she's found with Trevor, but the other part of her wishes Reuben would "fight" for her, as much as any Amish man would. Too late, she realizes the foolish choice she's made.
Has she ruined her best chance at love, or is there another path to happiness she just hasn't seen yet? Leslie Gould is the best-selling and award-winning author of twenty-three novels. She loves traveling, research, Shakespeare's plays, and church history. She and her husband live in Portland, Oregon and are the parents of four children. This book is one you will not want to leave. I would hope for a book 4 I could see another story here.
Leslie Gould is a wonderful writer. Rose is very determined to marry Reuben settle down and have a family with. That is until Englisher Trevor comes into town. He is full of fun things she doesn't see in Reuben. It is while she is helping out with the care of Lila that she starts flirting and sneaking around with Trevor. To only come to see her errors in what she did. But is it to late for Reuben to want her again in her life after what she has done? The characters are always well written. You like to get to know them. Think what I like most about Mary's books is they are romance books but they are a clean romance. But most important of all they are spiritual also. Read these novellas leaving one and feeling good. Mary writes from the heart. Carson and Jessica grew up friends then more then friends. Till one night there is a terrible accident with her brother James. Jessica runs off blaming it all on Car Another great series by Mary Manners.
See a Problem?
Jessica runs off blaming it all on Carson. A year later she returns only thing on her mind is buying the Lone Creek Ranch. Is it possible her and Carson can work things out to where they can both have what they want? I think God has great plans for these two! A cozy, yet satisfying read! Since this is the second in the series, I have to guess a bit on some of the finer details, but overall, book two was an easy entrance into the series. Carlson Merrill and Jessica Tate are at the center of this series, and the second installment wa 5 star read! Carlson Merrill and Jessica Tate are at the center of this series, and the second installment walks them through some difficult conflict and decision making.
That hope was a bit sketchy sometimes though, because Jessica returned to Lone Creek with her mind made up about several things. Funny how a fit of temper can literally turn your world upside down! The second installment of this series showcases life circumstances that present the characters with a choice; they can move forward with forgiveness and hope or they can stay mired in their past mistakes and allow bitterness and regret to direct their path.
It is this series of choices, made by all of the main characters in the book about a variety of situations, that makes this book an interesting read. The romance remains center stage, and the resolution is believable and satisfying. I am happy to recommend Lost In Lone Creek to readers everywhere! TWJ Magazine strives to guide readers to books of personal interest, with the understanding and respect that what appeals to some may not appeal to others. Lost in Lone Creek is a sweet and endearing love story with characters that are easy to warm up to.
For Jessica, resentment and blame have been her dominant emotions for the past year. Emotions that caused her to close her heart toward the man she loved and to flee Lone Creek. The story line of misunderstandings and lost chances is nothing new. However, author Mary Manners does an exceptional job with dialogue. Through that, and body language, she allowed me to know her characters more deeply. Showing is so much more effective than just telling because it lets me, the reader, shape this character in my mind, forging a strong bond that compels me to stay with that character until the end.
Jan 28, Diana Montgomery rated it it was amazing. What a wonderful story! I so hate to see this end. Hmm maybe a book 5 to bring all the stories together. Maybe set of twins even!
