La vie amoureuse des fleurs dont on fait les parfums (French Edition)

Iris Nobile de Aqua di Parma for ever. My choice is Forever and Ever by Dior, wonderful, soft, light scent, not offensive even in office environment. Honore des pres, vamp a ny. Created by nose olivia giacobetti but totally natural. Love it and am on my 4th bottle. I would be annoyed … but I stopped paying attention. I do love scent, though. Now I prefer natural essential oils—especially rose.

So then, after this relationship ended, I was left with this huge question… the scent was so tied to my memories with this man that I decided that even though I LOVED it, it had to go and I think it has subsequently been discontinued. So then it took me nearly two years to find a new perfume that I loved. Fortunately, after spending this summer in France, I discovered Nuxe Prodigeux le parfum. I will smell like sophisticated French summer year round — lots of people already like the scent of the oil, and over here in the states I have never smelled anyone else wearing it like Miss Dior, or a multitude of Burberry and Chanel perfumes that are nice, but too popular for me.

It reminds me of the good memories I made this summer and it drive my current Frenchman crazy. And, the price point is SO reasonable! Two or three addresses that could interest you: Souvent pour des Lutens! Ah, vraiment, cela me tourmente. Thank you for writing about this.

Sometimes I can smell that undertone you mention as people walk by me and I have a near-allergic reaction I have to get as far away as possible — it makes my nose twinge. I actually run or turn away from those department store sellers that come at you with a perfume bottle. Maria Novella, Creed, etc. I still think Chanel No. Comme pour un mec finalement …!

Are we trying too hard? I believe perfumes should be made almost individual: One day i hope i will find The One ;D. We share the same sentiments around fragrance. I appreciate your write up! I was in Paris many years ago when a very distinguished older man 75ish walked passed me looking just so handsom and elegant with a pair or quirky canary yellow wide-whale corduroy trousers and a classic tweed blazer. I remember looking at him thinking…. Sheesh… What a FOX! I turned around and picked up my pace to follow him.

I managed to tap him on his elbow and ask him what his scent was and he told me Blenheim Bouquet by Penhaligon. Since that day, I have gone through so many bottles of that stuff that I am considering buying stock in it! Now, I have people coming up behind ME and asking what scent I wearing. I love the communication that certain perfumes inspire.

Thanks for your great blog Garance. There will never be THE perfect perfume! I believe as something in your life changes, change your perfume. My first perfume was around 12 which I bought in the airport in London. I was so thrilled! The smell of it will always remind me of that time in my life. My new favorite was referred to me by a beauty blogger. How wonderful you were in Stockholm! I have been a huge fan of Fiori from Laura Biagotti and then they took it of the market.

That was when I was I tried a lot of perfumes thereafter, but never stayed with one in particular. Until they took it of the market, five years after I discovered it. Perfumes are a bit like boyfriends I think. You meet them and know this is it or not and then you want to be with them rest of your life. But sometimes they just leave you…..

Also, I try to avoid making assumptions. However, recently I imagined a scent I would like to wear, went for a hunt only to find it in…. Super cheap, but what can I say. The scent is exactly what I wanted. So, I got it and I love it. Pour moi il est parfait. Than Rush from Gucci for a long time.

And than i met my arab friends- and they have a relation to perfume that is miles away from me. They use 3 to 4 different fragances- over one another. As i grew older, i started doing this as well- so now, i have an obscure Kuwaiti perfurme that one if my friend gave me, a very nice oil with a very delivate smell Roger et Vivianne a swiss lab, plus another confidential indian made perfume called coco. I also wear rose essence i bought in Iran. Je sentais le cool! Depuis cinq ans, je ne le quitte plus. I tried a lot of brands, well-known and not so well-known.

The funny thing is that nobody ever recognizes it on me. For every day use at the office I prefer eau de toilette, for evenings out and fancy occasions I prefer perfume. And I have a scented soap in my lingerie drawer. I find most perfumes to just be too complicated— too much musk, too many notes.

My current favorite is the limited edition Ginger Biscuit from Jo Malone— buttery, spicy— reminds me of my mother baking cookies. I smell like that all the time anyway! I love, love perfume, but too have become jaded about it after realising that many of those sold on the high street are really just the same smell. I also became fed up with the constant wash of celebrity perfumes Justin Bieber…really???? I also learned that many of these take pence to manufacture but are then sold for expensive prices.

They smell cheap, synthetic and dull. It may be more expensive, but I figure quality rather than having lots of cheap smelling scents is better. Thanks for the post! I used the same one for about 15 years and suddenly I was over it. A bit weird but maybe it is something in my metabolism? I wanted to keep the routine to spray something behind my ears or where ever I want so I went searching for something new, fresh and light, not a scent that leaves a cloud behind you.

And I found it! Its actually for men but its far more delicate and not overpowering. And my husband loves it, which is a definite plus! Smelling it evokes a lot of sensations in me hihi: I completely agree with you with being tired of the perfume industry. When perfumes are being produced and pushed out without thought or care every single day, it just becomes a money-making industry.

UGG Australia Classic short?????? Loved this post Garance. I remember people by their smell, by their perfume. The Kenzo phase, the Chanel n. And that was it. I knew I reached perfection. But, since I was only 18, and life is life and ever-changing, I happened to go on a trip to Europe, and one of the thousands of department shops I found in London, I smelled Chloe.

After 6 months of traveling in Europe, I went back to my country still thinking of the smell. And in one year after that I dreamed about the scent twice. So, when I moved to London one year and a half later, I bought it stray away. It has been my new scent for 3 years now, and I still love it. I even got my other cousin to tell me he really liked my smell. But on a recent trip to Japan, I felt a little nostalgic about the Issey Miyake perfume and decided to buy it.
