Is it a holy bond or just a legal contract between two parties? Religion says this is a bond till death do Which is better marriage: Religion says this is a bond till death do them apart. Law says this is just a contract between two consenting adults. This book tries to answer these questions. What is the answer? For that you have to buy the book and read it for yourself. Here is the amazon link: Esha is desperate because she has to arrange money for treatment of her father. She has lost her mother to cancer and now the same monster is afflicting her father. She tries to get a loan from her relatives who mercilessly refuse.
Ayush and his mother come out as selfish, heartless people who think only for themselves. When she become dejected from everywhere, her boss Rohan is only the only ray of hope. He agrees to take care of all the expenditure but have a bizarre, humiliating and ridiculous condition.
The book has good emotional quotient. Esha feeling for her father are pure gold. But her feelings for Rohan are love or lust. The book worked for me but only in parts. Plot device known as McGuffin is good if it is used once. But it is used too many times and that takes away too much from book. If she was gold digger, then it makes more sense to marry Rohan because then she has all the property rights. As his mother she has to share property with him. Then why Rohan has to marry Esha or any other girl for that matter if ultimately he has to give Zaira her share.
But everything else falls flat because of the poor and wafer thin plot. In the end no matter how hard Rubina tried to salvage Esha and Rohan conditions, they come out like doing it only for money. Live in has been better. And Ayush has been treated unfairly because if Esha knew him from school days; then either she is an idiot which she is not as per her portrayal or Ayush is a better actor than SRK. Dec 19, Shalini rated it it was amazing.
It is the story of Esha and Rohan who get into a contract marriage for reasons of their own. Esha is a strong, independent woman who lost her mother to cancer. She adores her father who, as fate would have it, is diagnosed with the same brutal disease. Her relatives ditch her when she asks for a loan. Her childhood best friend, her fiancee Ayush is also not helpful.

I was engrossed in the book from the word go. I had an emotional attachment to the story because I knew what it means to find your parent diagnose with cancer. I found myself in tears, reading about Esha's mom. But yeah, that's just me. What I loved the most about the book was about Esha's decision in taking care of her sick Dad. Her love for him is unconditional and she is resolved to find a way to help him, serve him.
She believes that it is her moral responsibility as a daughter. The below lines are one of my favorites. I have responsibilities,' says Ayush. I have the same responsibilities,' she says. I had a lump in my throat reading this one: Now, let me make a confession. The plot is always similar- a charming man meets a sassy-mouthed girl, they fall in love, have sex - not once, not twice but always, then there is an emotional conflict between the hero and heroine, and in the end, all is well and they live happily ever after.
Believe me, I am fine with it. But then the lovemaking scenes have become mandatory like the action scenes in a Rohit Shetty movie - too many at that. I'm just glad 'Destined' isn't like that. Rohan and Esha's romance is beautiful and I loved that Rohan is empathetic towards Esha. While they have a sizzling chemistry, the book doesn't lose its focus from the main plot.
It evoked some strong emotions in me as a reader, and that's the author's success. The language is impeccable, and that's a given with Rubina's books. Oh yeah, that's a beautiful cover as well. Yes, it is a light, breezy read with a strong social message. Dec 31, Mahathi Ramya rated it really liked it. The story starts with Esha getting a bad news that her father is diagnosed with stage 2 cancer. Her life turns upside down as it is difficult to get treatment for him with her meager salary and she has no one to ask for help.
When it is time to show support, her fiancee and her longtime friend 'Ayush' shows his true colors and abandons her. In these turbulent times, her boss 'Rohan' proposes to marry her in exchange for the responsibility to finance her father's treatment. Esha doesn't The Plot: Esha doesn't have any other option.
While she also gradually falls for Rohan, she finds out the true purpose of Rohan marrying her. Only destiny can decide if Esha and Rohan can win their love for each other and clear their misunderstandings. Of course, the romance. That is the first thing to mention. Esha is straightforward and bold, whereas Rohan is handsome, rich and kind. The chemistry, conversations and the attraction are all natural. The issues in their relationships and misunderstandings are relatable. The next important highlight of the story is the concept behind it.
This is not a usual romantic story. It makes the readers empathize the families that take care of their ill family member whom they love more than anything in the world. It talks about the sacrifices the families take for that person and the problems they face. This story also highlights the problems women face when they decide to support their parents financially after they are committed to marry. I liked the narration and pace. I completed the novel in one go because of that. What didn't impress me much? The climax seemed to have wrapped up very quickly.
I expected to read more about Zainab and Rohan's father. Rohan proposing Esha for the first time itself didn't look very convincing. Overall, A good read for nook readers who love romance with a good story and relatable characters. I have received this book from the tbc blog tours in exchange for a review and this is my honest opinion on the book. Dec 21, Devika Fernando rated it really liked it. I could sympathize well with the heroine, Esha.
And I bet many other readers can, too. After having already lost her mother, she is facing the loss of her father too. And love is the one thing that carries her through.

Dec 27, Sunanda Chatterjee rated it it was amazing. It starts out all business at first, but gets complicated when they both fall for each other. So who takes care of aging parents who only have a daughter? As social norms break, more and more daughters are found taking care of parents, and it sets a great example for the youth to follow. Great job by Ms. I received a review copy of this book. Oct 28, Angela Peixoto rated it it was amazing. I have read and enjoyed previous books by Rubina Ramesh but this one really topped my expectations.
Not only is it a lovely story but also deals with a theme close to my heart - the caring of our parents in their old age and the acceptance of this fact by our partners in life. Definitely a must read everyone!

Why should a woman be made to choose? When the burden of pain and the fear of losing your love is bearing upon you, just the presence of someone next to you is too valuable. And trust me, I was so engrossed in her pain that I was shocked at my desire to hit Ayush. Out of the blue came a marriage proposal, a contractual marri Why should a woman be made to choose? The brewing friendship, companionship, intimacy, and finally love was perfect. Not even a second of dullness.

Destined is a love story that reminds you of the power of love and why the world loves to read romance, why it is the largest selling genre and why love is not just for lovers but for family, friends and life itself.
The author has balanced romance, family and duty in this beautiful book. Shaylin recovers her eyesight and gains her first gift, the very rare True Sight , which allows a person to 'see' others in colors. Confused, Erik decides to take her to Stevie Rae. At the school, Zoey receives a visit from her grandmother, who confirms Linda's death and leaves for a seven-day period of mourning. Zoey runs off to mourn and Aurox finds her. He offers her a Kleenex , just like Heath used to.
At the bus, Erik presents them with the girl. Neferet appears and Shaylin pretends to faint, later telling them she had the general color of dead fish eyes. The next day at school, Rephaim feels the call of his father and calls Zoey to stand witness to the meeting. Kalona appears on the wall and offers them a truce against Neferet, which Zoey reluctantly accepts. As the discussion takes place during her first class, with Neferet, she skips it altogether. When she returns to the school building for her second period she finds out that the Council has sent Thanatos, a vampyre Priestess with an affinity for Death, to report on the situation at the House of Night, much to Neferet's displeasure.
As Thanatos too can see the threads of Darkness, Zoey finds her sympathetic and eventually reveals her concerns about Neferet and her mother's death. Thanatos offers to perform a reveal ritual at the place of Linda's death on the fifth day of mourning. Back at the depot, Zoey and her friends sit down to discuss the events. Rephaim finds unexpected support in Shaunee, who empathizes with him because of her father, but this leads to a break between the Twins, as Erin doesn't understand why Shaunee feels so strongly about this. Two more prophecies, one from Kramisha and one from Aphrodite, warn of Rephaim's death at the reveal ritual, probably at the hand of Dragon, so Thanatos asks him to remain at the House of Night, which he doesn't obey.
While wondering in the tunnels, Shaunee spots Kalona, waiting for his son. Shaunee gives him her iPhone so that he can contact him until she can get him another phone. Neferet finds out about the reveal ritual and sends Aurox to intervene. During the ritual, he charges out in his bull form but is stopped by Dragon, who sacrifices himself to save Rephaim. The ritual continues anyway; Zoey and her grandmother discover the real circumstances of Linda's murder.
