Of course that new life is based on deceit and selfishness, so how can their love last? Rosay says and feels all the things I felt as a viewer watching the film. I enjoyed your thoughts very much. I saw this film a year or two ago and agree with your review. Cotten and Fontaine are a couple that under normal circumstances one would like to see end up together, but the plotline was uncomfortable, knowing they were hurting people with their deception.
That said, I was still glad I saw it. Glad you happened to stop by. It made for a much more uncomfortable romance, which felt realistic to me.
Remarkably good movie in which music really enhances the drama. Well-directed and well-cast, ditto acted. While waiting on a delayed flight, David Trask, who has left his unfaithful wife, meets three of his fellow passengers. When the aircraft crashes, he is one of few survivors, and sets out to resolve their unfinished business. A Korean War vet returns to his job as a railroad engineer and becomes involved in an affair with a co-worker's wife following a murder on a train where they meet.

Eventually the situation collapses when they come to pursue their original, individual interests without choosing a common path. Written by Mark Carroll. What can I say? The plot is absolute escapist romantic fare, which I'll leave others to describe. While on the surface the main catch may seem far-fetched, it's handled with surprising credibility; one cannot help but feel caught up in the lovers' dilemma.

But, despite the outstanding acting and story, the real stars here are the music and the Italian settings. The haunting song "September Affair," played in the film, was recorded shortly before Walter Huston's death and released posthumously; the poignancy of this fact, and the skillful usage in the film, made both a huge sensation.
