In other words, those theories — that one can find in the work of Le Corbusier, Lewis Mumford, Henri Lefebvre or Guy Debord — have tried to pinpoint a link between the organization of urban space and a specific type of mentality.

Presenting those theories, this article aims to show that it is possible to consider the modern city itself as an apparatus, and to present the consequences of that consideration on the orientation of collective action.
