If you are a fan of author Tara Sivec, or other authors who can combine reality and ridiculous situations in ways that are highly entertaining, you will likely enjoy this book. The story is charming, funny, sexy, dangerous, and serious at times. Kaitlyn has a tendency to embarrass herself in a variety of ways that makes it easy to like and connect with her.

Even though it takes us a while to get to know Cole, once we do, he is an easy guy to root for. There isn't a lot of development of some of the peripheral characters, but I think that is where this series will have room to expand and grow. The sex scenes aren't explicit, but it is easy to feel the heat and strong chemistry between Kaitlyn and Cole. This was an enjoyable read, and I wouldn't hesitate to continue with this series.

Jun 27, Barb Johnson rated it it was amazing. What a great story. Witty characters, quirky banter and just enough suspense to make it all pull together. I had to opportunity to beta read this, and I am honored to say I am very proud of Julie for what she has done with her story. This story is full of Twisted Luck! Oct 27, Jenn of Rave and Rant about Raunch rated it it was amazing. Sometimes I keep myself in a little box in my obsessive love of the types of books I read.

Twisted Luck is outside my box and I absolutely loved it. I laughed out loud while reading and sent excerpts as texts to friends to show them how funny something in the book was. I definitely recommend this book and I am sure you will love the dynamic of this group of characters. She is ridiculous and has a tendency to land herself in socially awkward land mines.

Not only is this hilarious Sometimes I keep myself in a little box in my obsessive love of the types of books I read. Her inner monologues and gift of finding herself in the craziest of situations; wondering how did I get here and which wrong step did I take are literary gold. The group of characters in this book is the perfect fictional little family. Marge is a train wreck. Her crazy antics have you doubling over in laughter.

Throw Cole and Matt in the mix and you get swoon worthy boyfriends to love, to round out this phenomenal group of characters. I woke up feeling hot and claustrophobic. I realized that Cole was basically pinning me under him with a leg over my lap and an arm over my chest. When I read books in which this happened to the main character it was always written as cute or sexy, and the girls usually basked in the delightful sensation of being pinned under their lover.

That was total bullshit. I was sweating so much I was sure our skin was going to create a sucking sound when he finally pried himself off of me. His leg was pushing my bladder down in the most unfortunate way, and I was pretty sure that wet feeling in my ear was my own damn drool. Suffice it to say, nothing about this moment was cute or sexy. I LOVE this passage. From my point of view I feel Julie Solorio was paying homage to the dirty books we love, while making note of the non-fictional reality of the things we read in a humors manner.

The end of the novel takes a little bit of a twist, deviating from the light story line and humor. Kaitlyn learns that life can be scary and not all rainbows and sunshine; telling the story of a young girl learning to navigate life once things are not the sheltered world it was previously. This demonstrated the transformation of a young girl finding out the world can be a dark place but she needs to find a way to continue living. Julie Solorio writes beautifully in this novel, bringing humor and a story of friendship, crazy antics, and the transformation of a girl dealing with the dark in the world.

They share a math class together and with Kaitlyn being shy, she gets flustered easily around him and tends to not talk all that much.

She doesn't know much about him but their talks are always friendly.

They start spending sometime together and then enters Marge. Marge is Hailey and Kaitlyn's neighbor. She isn't your typical grandma. She is feisty, sweet, loving and like a 70 year old woman in a 20 years old body. These three become great friends. They sit around watching reality shows together, helping Marge with the newest tech gadgets and Marge decides its time to start "loving" again and starts to do Internet dating.

Cole and Kaityln are on a date and everything is pointing to them finally spending time together and while on the date, Kaityln gets a call that Marge is missing. Her and Hailey feel guilty because they hadn't noticed her gone. This is where Marge's sexy grandson Matt walks in. I will just say when they met Matt, things start getting interesting. Cole has to go out of town but meets up with them later to help search for Marge.

This road trip is great because if gives her and cole a chance to get to know one another better and you get to the bottom of why Cole is so mysterious. The four of them have many laughs, discover one another, dive into some mystery and sadness. I laughed so many times reading this. I am shocked this is a debut novel. This is the 3rd book I have read by this author and I was looking forward to a light read for a long weekend in our RV. This book did not cut it for me. It was as if the author had a fun idea for a short story, but decided to make it meet the word count for a novel. The main character, Julie, is not a woman I would want for a friend.

I loved Julie and Romeo , this sequel not so much. What was so appealing in the first book, a perfect mix of humor and tenderness, unfortunately goes awry in this one. Instead everything seemed a bit too much. Too funny, too ridiculous, too strange. Including her 8 year old grandaughter, whose love for Willy Wonka grows into a bizarre obsession and an over-the-top purple-passioned craziness for lottery tickets. Seriously the kid needed one grown-up in her life to act like an adult. Entertaining in a couldn't-look-away kind of way, but really not up to par with the original. This is a sweet, funny love story but not what I would call a romance. I expected more plot but all in all it worked ok. I thought the Willie Wonka theme, while slightly contrived, was clever and unique. It got a little "out there" in the middle; the author was more concerned about following the theme than she was about sticking to reality but I think some interesting points were demonstrated through this.

We get the characters from Ray's previous book, Julie and Romeo, but it's not really a romance. Romeo spends nearly the entire book laid up with a bad back, zonked out on painkillers, in Julie's bed. Then her older daughter, expecting triplets and ordered to bed, moves a hospital bed into the living room and expects mom to wait on her. Much chaos and hilarity ensue. Many books have been written about people winning the lottery and the aftermath of such a happening. Jeanne Ray has added a twist to this scenario that makes this story even more interesting. With endearing characters, this tale will pull you in as you wait for each lottery drawing, just as the characters are waiting. This series is a delight to read, and is even better in this audio version, read by the author.

Emma has a lot on her plate because she's trying to follow her dreams, take care of a very ill mother, and work to make ends meet. I love the way Emma knows what she wants and where her duty lies. The first cookie that you crack gives you a TRUE fortune. I loved each and every one of the stories. My only complaint is that they were short! I think that every story could have or should have had a full length novel about them. The stories are related by the cafe and the main character in each story was mentioned in the story before it. One more person that I would have loved to see in all of the stories was the Cafe owner, Cai. He was in the first story and I thought he was great. His enthusiasm for his cookies was fun.
