Let it be Me. Becoming the Whiskey Princess. This is too frustrating. May 07, Jill rated it really liked it. I have really tossed and turned about what to rate this book. In one hand, I loved it. On the other hand the heroine infuriated me. But by the end of the book, I truly believed she had suffered enough, I began to love her.
So 4 stars is the result. Toni Aleo has a wonderful sporting series in her Assassins books. She writes amazing characters. Tate is one of my favourites so far. Sensitive, adorable, he knew what he wanted and he went after it. Audrey, poor, poor Audrey. What a hell of a time this w I have really tossed and turned about what to rate this book. What a hell of a time this woman has had. I yoyo-ed from wanting to slap her to cheering her on. This was another excellent instalment to the series. The plotline was different, we have very tragic storylines her for both characters but that just made the ending even better.
Once I got into it, I just devoured it, with its easy to read style. I will definitely be reading the next in this series. Mar 15, Miia rated it did not like it Shelves: What a waste of time! I didn't like this book at all. It was too cheesy and the author did a horrible characterization of a Swedish guy. Mom is not mama but mamma or mor!!!
Dad is pappa or far not papa!!! Sounds more American than Swedish to me.. Jul 25, Denisa rated it liked it Shelves: You won't lose anything if you try it, won't gain anything if you do. Ok, there were some major problems in this book. The writing style was awful and ambiguous, I had to re-read some stuff just to understand what Aleo wanted to say with that. Sooo so many damn spelling mistakes!

They were pretty diverse though, so I figure it wasn't the author's fault but the editing. Way too many useless information, pages written just so the book is bigger. I skimmed a lot and believe me, I You won't lose anything if you try it, won't gain anything if you do. I skimmed a lot and believe me, I lost absolutely no info. It was pretty typical but I enjoyed the plot and I liked the characters. Just when you think The Assassins Series couldn't get any better, author Toni Aleo strikes again with the third book in the series, Empty Net is one hot slap shot of a story!
Now it's Audrey and Tate's turn to tell their story Audrey Parker's life isn't what she wants it to be: She has just gotten out of an abusive relationship with Levi, who only used her for the sex. She has a lot of insecurities and findi Just when you think The Assassins Series couldn't get any better, author Toni Aleo strikes again with the third book in the series, Empty Net is one hot slap shot of a story!
She has a lot of insecurities and finding her very own Prince Charming with the "happily ever after" ending hasn't been in the cards Tate Odder is a twenty-one year old hockey player from Sweden, who was traded to the Nashville Assassins as their new rookie goalie. Tate is trying to fit in with his new surroundings and team, but he's struggling over the loss of his parents and sister in a car accident back in Sweden. Feeling alone, Tate is trying to put his life back together again, and when he sees Audrey Parker across the bar, he knows she might be the one that could help him get over the emptiness that he feels inside.
When one night's steamy hook-up happens between Audrey and Tate, can a relationship blossom or will insecurities and past personal issues get in the way? Empty Net is the story of two lonely people who have lost all hope of ever finding their happily ever after, only to find each other, fall in love, and struggle to overcome their insecurities and past personal issues in order to make their relationship work.
Dramatically written in the third person narrative, the author easily draws the reader in to follow Audrey and Tate's love story. Author Toni Aleo continues to take her readers on an emotional roller coaster ride with this latest installment in The Assassins Series, you can't help but feel for Audrey and Tate as they learn to deal with their personal issues as their relationship develops. These two lonely people don't have an easy road ahead, they both have a lot of personal issues that they need to overcome: Audrey is older than Tate, she can't have children and she doesn't trust people; while Tate has to overcome the overwhelming loss of his family and is determined to make Audrey see that they could have their happily ever after ending.
The author continues to captivate her readers with some really great hockey scenes, true hockey fans will appreciate her fanatical passion for the sport, the fast pace action and drama of the game is riveting, she has a way of transporting you to the hockey arena where you can literally feel the electricity of the game.
And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the very steamy and passionate sex scenes, oh my goodness, my imagination went into overdrive, one word I love how the author includes the characters from the previous books into new book, the continuity of their stories flows smoothly and intertwines with the new storyline but it doesn't overtake the next couple's story. I was completely captivated by Audrey and Tate's story, my emotions ran the gamut as they struggled with their issues, and my pulse raced with the sizzling chemistry and passion that they had for each other.
And if that isn't enough, the author leaves the reader with a cliffhanger that leads into the next book in the series, Blue Lines, that will feature Piper's story Like the old saying goes The Assassins Series will draw you into the fascinating sport of hockey where you'll be introduced to the Assassins family of very hot hockey players and the strong passionate women that love them I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book tour event hosted by Reading Addiction Blog Tours.
I've had a recent fascination with hockey books and I find that extremely funny because, even though I would love to understand the sport, I just don't. I like watching it but I never last more than 30 minutes unless I'm drooling over some hot guy and I guess that all comes from not having someone to explain the ins and outs of the game.
But in my 3. But in my books I understand everything. Boy is a successful hockey player, boy meets girl, boy has lots of hot monkey sex with girl, boy falls in love with girl. Audrey is at her sisters bachelorette party, gets drunk and brings back a hot guy to her room, planning on a one night stand. She had just broken up with a loser boyfriend and was in a bad place. Turns out hottie is the newest and youngest player in the team that her future brother in law plays for, as well as her new neighbor.
Fate kinda throws them together and they can't help it but fall in love, and yes passing through the hot monkey sex part in which there might've been a very hot scene on the kitchen counter involving cupcakes. She has been emotionally abused to the point where she would allow people to use her. She deserves to be loved and I think Tate does that well. Makes her feel cherished. I just couldn't completely buy into the OMG he's to die for hot when he's being compared to a sixteen year old. But what he may lack in manliness looking and age he makes up for in heart and actions.
As a couple I think they were great.
Empty Net: The Assassins Series
I wish there would've been better resolutions to their issues, since they were important issues in a relationship. More than just "I'll walk away and think about it and then all of a sudden I see the light and everything is alright in the world again". Even though I haven't read the previous books, I can already see that I would've enjoyed seeing them again in this book.
He plays a good enough part in this story and I would like to read his story as it seems it was quite interesting. I was not expecting the ending, there were a couple of twists there for me and I liked how everything seem to come together there. The relationships between Audrey's family and close friends, theirs as a couple and their plans for the future. Definitely an author I want to read more of.
When we were just introduced to Tate early in book 2, I wasn't so sure because he was so young. Hello, he's a pro NHL player and was only 20 yo back then But then we started to learn his tragic story and I started to fall in love with him. This was a kid that had to deal with more My Review: This was a kid that had to deal with more tragedy than most 40 yo's by the age of Tate is new to the United States, new to speaking English, new to the Assassins and he's feeling a bit lost.
He's been severely traumatized, but he's such an amazing guy. Just one of those guys that you want to wrap your arms around and hug. Yeah, I pretty much fell in love with his character. And he is such a sweetheart Tate is a catch! Her sister is Fallon, heroine of book 2, and throughout both books she has gone on and on about how she wants to find her prince I just don't get it especially when Tate is right there How does that work??
Like I said, I just wanted to knock some sense into her Although I hated her choices, I never had a problem seeing why she made them But my heart just hurt for her and that she couldn't make herself choose Tate They both are so torn up through so much of this book. BTW, the scenes where Audrey would listen to him play the piano through the closet wall An amazing love story.
This series just gets better and better as the characters become deeper and deeper. ANY of these books can be read as stand-alone novels, but ALL the characters in them are deeply involved with each others lives so the reading of the stories becomes so much richer through each book as you get to see the characters grow even more and evolve after their Happily Ever After's. The Assassins are a family and I love that. Crossing my fingers that book 4 comes out soon Firstly i would like to thank my friend and gorgeous author Toni Aleo for giving me the honur of reading and eArc of your 3rd book.
I would also like to Thank the gorgeous Tara Turner cus without you it would not have been possible. So thankyou both gorgeous ladies: Now back to this amazing amazing book. Toni has really out done herself with this one if you thought her first two book Taking Shots and Trying to score were awsome then you will apsolutely love this one, it is my favourite one so far, but i do love all of them. This book has left me wanting so much more. I didnt want to end. Let me warn you it is much more heartbreaking than the others as i was left crying for a while. I loved Audrey from the start i loved her in Trying to score and she made me love her even more in this one, but this is her story and her story is not so pretty let me tell you.
Audrey is in love with such a jerk Levi and by the end of this book you will feel like killing him like i did, she is stuck in her family business which she hates. Her dream is to open up a cupcakeria, and oooohhh the cupcakes yummy: Her sister is getting married to Lucas Brookes who Audrey calls Prince charming but she wants her own prince charming and Levi is anything but. Tate is fairly new to the Nashville Assassins and also the youngest on the team, he has a family tragedy that he is trying to overcome after losing your entire family it is very hard to go on being who you once were.
One of the times i was in tears was the time that he was retelling this story and it was heartbreaking. Things start to change for both Audrey and Tate when they meet. Will Tate be loved the way he wants someone to love him? Will Audrey overcome all she has been through to finally find true love or will she let it escape? Toni really makes you feel every emotion during this book you feel everything that Tate and Audrey are going through, when they cry you cry when they get frustrated you get frustrated. And let me say i never hated a man more than i hate Levi, i dont even think there is a name for him he is so messed up.
He alone made me feel so much anger everytime his name was mentioned. Well i guess you all have to read it and find out but damm you will not be dissappointed. May 03, Kelly rated it really liked it. Even if there were some things who bothered me, it still a really good book and the end is just great. In that book, Tate, one of the main characters, is just the perfect guy. I mean, he is so sweet and sexy at the same time!
He is patient with Audrey when I would have been crazy if I were him. Plus, he have an horrible past with his dead family and seeing him be happy with Audrey is just so good because what he's been through wasn't easy. I felt the chemistry between the two characters and it was really good. Sometimes the scenes are Hot, with a capital H. It was so touching to see such a beautiful friendship between a girl and a guy.
Another character I loved was Aiden; he was so cute! He's seven and the author made sure you fall in love with him even if you're not a fan of kids. There were a few funny scenes like the fire scene, it was hilarious just like when she was acting all jumpy sometimes. The end of the book was really emotional I think. I mean, she is always whining about Levi, it annoyed the crap out of me Sorry, but that part get me a little mad The guy is a total jerk and she is the only one who doesn't care about that. In books, I prefer strong women who fight back against the guy who hurt her, you know what I mean?
I probably forgot to talk about many things, but anyway, you should read it and see by yourself if you like that book. May 12, namericanwordcat rated it liked it Shelves: This is the third book in the Assassins series about hockey players in love. I really loved the hero of this book but wished to have a little bit more of him. I felt for the heroine of this book but could have done with less of her in places an more time with him instead or them together. The book is a fun book of older woman-younger man, neighbors, sports star, and a big beautiful woman troupes.
It tempers all this fun with a hero who has a lot of grief and heroine who makes terrible choices in This is the third book in the Assassins series about hockey players in love.
It tempers all this fun with a hero who has a lot of grief and heroine who makes terrible choices in the present and choices she should forgive herself for in the past based on a lack of self worth. This self worth isn't about her body which is a nice change but about something else. I love the steadfast hero. He is flawed with such real grief and the truth of being truly alone but also so sure and sexy. I love the culture contrast of his Swedishness.
Some of this book depends too much on an understanding of the past books. I don't really understand why the evil ex has such access to the heroine's social circle until the end of the book having not read the second book in the series.
The Assassins Series
The heroine has been badly treated and really is in a cycle of abuse but I think the prior relationship was too short a period for her to be this stupid in her choice. I would have liked to see her pervious relationships so we could have gotten a better handle on why she was not bright when it came to her ex. There were a lot of other issues that could have built better tension than her TSTL moments. None the less, I forgave her and you will too. Not a book I will reread over and over but one I enjoyed for the popcorn of the older woman and younger man, flawed hero, and sports star themes.
Again, this writer is promising to me and each book gets better. I was given a copy this book for my honest review. Since I read both books back-to-back, as if it was one big book, the stories were on par with one another, so the ratings are the same. With the exception of Audrey throwing a major pity party and being whiny in the first half of the book, I thought sh 3. Taking Risk Box Set. How to write a great review. Wow, most powerful story of the series so far. I love Toni Aleo's books.
