THE GENERAL IS MISSING

Some of them, who took part in his relocation took us where he body was relocated. We came here this morning, we drained the water and we were able to salvage the body of General Alkali. The remaining aspect is for all those who took part in this henious act — nobody, no matter how connected the person is must not go unpunished. Yakubu Rapp, who were declared wanted by the Police in connection with the incident, have turned themselves up to the Police. On Sunday, September 2, the soldiers came to our Lopandyet community, started shooting and killing people. Even two of my sons were killed and two of my grandsons were wounded, and are now in critical conditions. They knocked at my door and threatened that they would kill me as they killed my children. They left, but promised to come back by 3: They threatened that if they did not see me, they will arrest my children, with the hope that I will come if they detain me.

When the Army came to the mining pond, they never asked for anybody. I have decided to surrender myself to the police after I heard that I have been declared wanted.

He was declared missing on September 3 when he was traveling from Abuja to Bauchi State. He is believed to have been killed by his abductors.

A blood-stained T-shirt, a boxer short and a pair of shoes believed to belong to the general were found in the car. Since the discovery of the car, there have been fears the military could attack the community in retaliation. A day after the car was found, the army cordoned off the Dura Du community and arrested 30 suspects in connection with the suspected murder of the general.

Apart from the discovery of the missing car, two other vehicles were also recovered from the pond.
