For instance, they do not like being cuddled, which will certainly ruffle some feathers! Even though he can come across as severe and ridged in his beliefs about dogs, the methods work, and my dog is much better behaved because of it!
Any slip ups in the pecking order, and my Jack Russell is quick to dominate! I do feel though that the editing on this book is quite poor; it would have been so much better to have broken up his useful tips into clear chapters, instead of throwing random but incredibly useful information throughout the book. It would make it so much easier for people putting this book into practise to flick to the appropriate chapter! Great book to really get in the mind of your pets.

One person found this helpful. Well worth a read. This was a very easy read. He has a good understanding of the dog and it's behaviors. It gave me a better understanding of why the animal was acting a specific way. In general it is not really a training book but will help you understand your dog and why the can be a challenge.
It does clearly state how to keep the humans as the Alpha of the house. This author has a very good understanding of the heirarchial order of dog society.
Enabled me to better understand my own dog. I started to apply the author's ideas a fortnight ago and have a much more obedient dog. Also a much happier dog. Must read the book again to improve my own understanding of the author's ideas. Absolutely fantastic book to read. Very insightful, good explanations. I never knew what it meant when dogs do certain things, like lean on you or step on your toes etc. Loved it - Highly recommended to all! See all 16 reviews.
