Destined: Years from Home #3 (Years from Home Trilogy)
The writing in this book is rich with vivid imagery and action. I really could see the progression of growth and expertise in the writing of Tess Oliver. The ending promises more surprises and adventure in the third book. No, I will not spoil it for you by giving you a hint.
This is one story you need to read and savor for yourself.
Mar 14, Scimone Jackson rated it really liked it. Tess Oliver Boy oh Boy do i have regrets abou this book. I finished it too soon! Did i say that one already? This book was just as i had expected it to be I can't remember the exact date i finished the first book but i think i recieved it in January Tess has such a creative mind I can't wait to see how book 3 is done. It's crazy because i am the type of person that has a new book every day I think the last book i read and finished was actually part one of the years from home trilogy. But then this book came out: If you loved Book One people Book two will have you just as in love: Mar 06, Hellen rated it it was amazing.
Poppy is a stranger to the small town in Montana, Angus made sure of that, Poppy also is married to the Sheriff of the town. When Angus casted the spell Cade forgets who Poppy was, along with his family. Poppy is still trying to find a way out of her blood pact to Angus when some things start to arise and challenge her on the way. This was really good, I actually wasn't expecting some of the things put in here.
My only problem was it felt like it was too short, but it was really good overall. I Poppy is a stranger to the small town in Montana, Angus made sure of that, Poppy also is married to the Sheriff of the town. I can't wait to read the next book when it comes out. Jul 28, Wendy rated it it was amazing Shelves: A good continuation of the story.
Distraction (Years from Home, #1) by Tess Oliver
Lots of action and challenges to keep it interesting. I'm looking forward to the third book. Mar 21, Melonie rated it it was amazing. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I have loved this one since the first book. Love this series I read the first book and can't wait to read the other two. You will want to read all three. Alexandra rated it it was amazing Mar 30, C A Roberts rated it really liked it May 02, Renee rated it liked it Dec 01, Alisha Homer rated it it was amazing Feb 25, Shawna Nichols rated it it was ok Oct 12, Jodie rated it liked it Feb 25, Anne rated it liked it Jun 18, Veronica Pearson rated it it was amazing Jul 03, Overall this book was great.
It took me a couple of pages t I love Cade Tanner! It took me a couple of pages to get into it, but once I did I was hooked. There was never a dull moment, something was always happening to push the story along so it stayed interesting. And I loved the alternating POVs. I loved seeing things from Poppy's pod but since I love Cade and want to steal him from Poppy, I was excited when I realized his pov was told as well. Poppy has to be one of my favorite heroines, and I'm not just saying this. She was strong and independent, but she also had one of the kindest hearts. I felt so bad for her when she got sent to the future and had to deal how much everything had changed.
I can't explain it I just do. Maybe its because I watched so many westerns with my grandfather when I was a kid, I don't know. This cowboy could definitely be classified as an alpha-male. He was strong, protective, possessive, and sexy. And even when he was faced with the outrageous truth and all odds against him, he never backed down. He was confident and cocky and again sexy.
If I don't stop now I'll ramble and get annoying so I'll just leave you with that. I hated Charlotte and Angus. Charlotte was just snotty and annoying and reminded me of all the girls I disliked in high school. Angus is pure evil in my opinion. What he did at the end of the story made me want to scream and punch him OH and knee him in his baby maker. I have mixed feelings about the ending.

It made me so sad and I hate cliff hangers. But it made me super excited to read the sequel Unbreakable so I don't know how I feel about it. I was balling and when I read the final page I was like, 'No no no! This can't be the end. So it definitely made me want to continue the series and see what happens next. Anyways, overall I loved the book. And where should you read it? Read it outside in your favorite reading spot, and make sure to keep some tissues on hand.
Check out more of my reviews and fun stuff on my blog: The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion. Poppy Seabrooke is an eighteen year old who lives with her grandmother, Nonni and little sister, Mari.
Time travel
Poppy is a witch and will use her magic when she is not suppose too. Poppy lives in Salem, MA. Although Poppy only uses her magic for good things her grandmother has told her more than one time not too. One day Poppy and Mari are on their way home from town The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. One day Poppy and Mari are on their way home from town and they see some boys picking on another little boy.
Poppy wants to help the little boy so she uses her magic to save him. Then she is arrested and thrown in jail for using her magic. While in jail Angus, a warlock and a very powerful one at that wants Poppy all for himself. He visit Poppy in jail and makes a deal with her. He tells her he will get her out of jail if she will marry him.
See a Problem?
Poppy doesn't want to marry him but she doesn't see any other way. Her grandmother finds out about the deal she made with him and uses her magic to send Poppy years into the future. Poppy is supposed to end up in Salem years from now but instead she ends up in Montana in Cade Tanner and his friend Jacks find Poppy after she lands in Montana.
Cade takes her home and his family take her in until her grandmother can come and get her and take her home. Cade and Poppy know that she will not be staying long and they both know better than to fall in love with each other but they do anyway. Who can control love? I never expected Distraction to be as good as it was. I love reading books about Salem witches but Distraction was way different than any I have read so far. In the beginning I thought Poppy was a little immature but she grew as the story progressed.
She turned out to be a very nice young lady. Everyone liked her right off the bat. Who wouldn't like her she is so sweet of a person. Cade, now there is a cowboy if I ever saw one which I haven't. I loved how Cade talked always joking or maybe he wouldn't. Maybe he was being sarcastic. But oh well I still liked him and I bet any of you ladies out there would too.
Distraction
Hey you want to meet Cade? Well then go get yourself a copy of Distraction and meet him. I can't wait to read the next book in the series Unbreakable. Dec 15, Marsha rated it really liked it. I just love a good paranormal romance and when mixed with historical fiction you cannot help but have a winning combination. Poppy and her sister Mari live with their grandmother Nonni after being rescued from an orphanage. They truly are witches but not the bad sort. They use their powers to help others. Unfortunately, the evi I just love a good paranormal romance and when mixed with historical fiction you cannot help but have a winning combination.
Unfortunately, the evil minister, Ethan Wolfe has designs on Poppy and will do anything to get his hands on her including having her arrested and charged with being a witch. Of course the slimy dog will make the charges go away and keep her sister Mari from being charged as an accomplice if Poppy enters a blood pack and agrees to marry him. Poppy agrees just before her grandmother comes to rescue her. When Nonni finds out about the pack, she catapults Poppy into the future years to Poppy discovers a whole new world, with more freedom and conveniences for women and the man she has been dreaming of all of her life.
However, good things don't last forever and Ethan eventually shows up. What will happen to our heroine and will she have to do the unthinkable and marry the flea infested dog, Ethan? You have to read the first book in this brand new trilogy to find out.
I really enjoyed this story. Tess Oliver masterfully builds two separated and distinctive worlds: Both were totally rich with the language and cultural norms of the times. I also loved the characters of Poppy and Cade. Additionally, the character of Ethan was so vile he made my skin crawl.
- Private Emotions – Promises (The Private Emotions Trilogy Book 3).
- Dumb Animals;
- More titles to consider.
I cannot wait to see what is going to happen with the story and these characters. Who knows maybe I cannot catapult. Jan 10, Hellen rated it it was amazing. I absolutely loved this book. Tess Oliver just keeps getting better and better with every book. This book was really good. Poppy Seabrooke is an eighteen year old who lives with her grandma, Nonni, and sister, Mari. Poppy and Mari used to live in an orphanage after their mothers death, their grandma came and got them. Their grandma is a witch, a good one. There are however bad ones, and Angus Wolfe is one of the worst, he's a warlock, one of the most powerful ones.
Angus won't stop troublin Wow! This book is not yet featured on Listopia. May 21, Anne rated it it was amazing. What a wonderful series this was. Great characters and the storyline was excellent. I really recommend this series. I hope the author does more like this.
This review can also be found on my blog: We visit a third new world, meet new characters, and have new adventures. I loved the setting in this one. I have always been intrigued by the time period and I loved seeing Cade adapt so well. Except for his jealousy. I thought he was being very foolish about that.
I liked Colin and Pearl and I am sad that I wont see them again. In a way, this story felt incomplete or that it c This review can also be found on my blog: In a way, this story felt incomplete or that it could be revisted in the future. Cade and Poppy are safe and together and happy, but Angus is still out there, and the Council is still corrupt.
They saved themselves but not their world. I suppose that is more than I should expect from them, but I am just used to stories where the characters go all the way to solve all the problems they see, especially in all the dystopians I have read. Although a sacrifice was made in order for them to be together, I am so happy that they finally are. The ending reminded me why I loved Distraction so much. It was my favourite from this series, and this would be my second.
I felt like I didnt see enough of Cade and Poppy together in this one. While they were on their mission in the past they didnt get a lot of opportunity to be together and I was beginning to really miss that by the end of the book. Another reason why this story felt like it could be revisited is because of Mari and Jackson. I would love for Mari to find happiness like her sister but it was unclear whether or not that had happened. All the book said was that they had become inseparable.
That's a word usually used to describe friends or children, and I dont know if I would be reading too much into it to assume they were more than friends. But I choose to assume that they are. So, a great conclusion to the series, with a bit of tragedy mixed in with their happines. And another great book from Tess Oliver. I will continue to read more of her books. Feb 16, Catarina rated it really liked it Shelves: In this conclusion to the Years from Home Series I honestly didn't know what to expect. Oliver almost broke my heart in Unbreakable with what happened to Cade and Poppy.
Now, not only are Cade and Poppy on the run from the evil wizard, now they have to avoid the Witch Council.
