Our youngest students, age 3 and 4, prepared crafts and games for everyone to participate. It was a hands-on table where everyone liked to linger. Then came the poster presentations. The topic for level 4 took us on a tour of cities such as Genf, Hamburg, Innsbruck.
And the students of level 5 prepared posters about themselves and their interests like Ringen, Krokokile, Autos. Of course an Olympic theme needed to be present.

Needless to say, the exhibits, crafts, and games kept our photographer busy as he tried to capture many moments of this successful day of projects. Kaffee und Kuchen, of course, is a given. Held amidst an historic mid-April snowstorm members of the Milwaukee area German community proved that they could still come out and have fun despite the curve ball thrown by Mother Nature.
Despite the icy roads, President William Bessa welcomed over guests who packed into the Schwabenhof in Menomonee Falls. Royalty was also represented through visits by our very own. A Milwaukee area favorite, the Austrian Express Band, provided entertainment throughout the evening.
The DANK Milwaukee dancers also performed two dances during a band break to the delight of the audience. While people gathered on this evening for fun and dancing there was also another important reason for the DANK Fruhlingsfest and that is to serve as the main club fundraiser to support German educators each year in the Milwaukee area. DANK Haus Kinderschule Sommercamp for kids ages and is a fun way to stay connected with German language and culture while school is on break, or to get a first taste of it. Camp is hosted from August 6 through 17, 9am - 3 pm! Flexible sign up for both or one week only. After hearing the tales of German immigration to Chicago and seeing artifacts of their journey in the Lost German Chicago museum, visitors can end their day with a small taste of German culture as well.

However, we are still committed to increasing our membership and improving our services to the membership. We sponsored a regional meeting in Cleveland in April and was attended by members from the Pittsburgh and Erie chapters. Our next chapter meeting is Thursday May 17th at 6: I hope to see a good turnout to discuss more of our activities that are being planned. There was a very good turnout at the German Garden this year on Earth Day. We had a local Boy Scout troop volunteer to help. I think we removed over a hundred bags of debris from the garden. While experimenting with new ways to practice verb conjugations with clients, I ran across a public domain, royaltyfree image of a six-petal flower that looked similar to the verb table, but was different enough that my clients found it to be more creative, more inviting to work with, nicer to look at, and more fun to use. Hey, look at that: German verb conjugations can be fun! The problem was that the flower was orange so it used a lot of ink when printed out and it looked really heavy.
It did the job, but only sort of. With the gift from DANK the very first thing I did was hire my graphic designer to design several new verb flowers. I had her develop several four different sheets: Great for folks who want to keep things really straight-forward. This is the same verb conjugation, different format:.
