Apr 08, Jacqueline Maddox rated it it was amazing. Great set I really enjoyed this set of books. The setting and the time period made the books really interesting. There were times while I was reading that I became angry at the way women were treats, but it also shoed how strong they were.

I really loved reading these exciting books.

Historical Fiction had me checking on some of the activity on Wikipedia, looking things up on Google Earth, and discussing some of it with friends, so a successful read. There was history, but it was excessively repetitive. It was a long slow slough. Sep 22, James McLellan rated it it was amazing. At last a romantic Historical novelist that does not repeat the same theme! Lots of intrigue, it's of some researched history -- a little overdone in the sex, perhaps because although most of us experience exquisite passion as such with those we love and pledge ourselves to, it's a stretch to portray all the lover's every encounter with such passion as years pass. Love the story lines. Make the sex more real with true desire and devoted love.

Jennifer is a great story teller. These are wonderful stories. For me, it was just a little bit more history and description, but still wonderful information. Katrine Castlereagh's lot in life is to be wife to a wealthy plantation owner. Problem is, her husband is older and impotent, and what do you do when you want your wife to produce an heir? Why hold a medieval tournament with the champion getting the very best prize of all - although Katrine's not too fond of the whole idea.

Into this muddle comes Rowan de Blanc, who believes Katrine is responsible for his half brother's death, and he aims to make her pay. This being a romance novel and all you can pretty much guess where the story is going, although Blake does manage to slip a few twists and turns in to keep you guessing until the end.

There's a fair bit of sex included, although IMHO Blake is classy enough to keep it from feeling smutty. While this wasn't an OMG best book ever, I did enjoy it and would pick it up again when I'm in the mood for a lighter read.

It took me a long time to get into this story. It seems to start off wrong. I wondered if maybe there was a story before this one that would explained the beginning. I read the book to the end. Usually I can tell someone what happened. This time I had to force myself to remember what happened.

Not a great book to read again. Just an ok story. I give kudos to any writer But Blake makes what I've found to be a common mistake among many writers Before the end, I was losing interest.

Paperback Editions

I found the pace very slow for most of the book and then the ending was rushed. The mysterious murderer and the plot twists were very intriguing and really surprised me when they were revealed. The Court of Love was way too philosophical for me but that is a matter of personal taste and it doesn't surprise me that many people liked it.

This was a very nice book to read if you like historical romances so I do recommend it if you like that genre. Get to Know Us.
