My Lucky Groom (Summer Grooms Series Book 2)
Richard hires Ventura as his new nanny for his five year old twins, Ricky and Elisa. But just let me say that the attraction with Ventura and Richard blooms fully unto a great story. Having twins of my own as I read, I found myself smiling throughout the story and Ventura's adventures.
I think Ginny Baird did great in writing out each character in this book. While reading this story , I enjoyed on how real the story seemed. I finished reading this book with a smile on my face. I recommend this book for any one up for a great love story. You'll be happy you did. She is a mids girl who feels that she was abandoned by her father when she was little and is also the type of girl who is often overlooked. Her chance meeting with an adorable waitress leaves her with a new best friend and roommate. Ventura, out of desperation, takes a job with one of the city's hottest bachelors Richard --but it's not quite the job she had in mind. What I really liked about this Ventura, collector of fortune cookies, is off on a new adventure--finding work in Washington DC.
What I really liked about this story is that Ventura is not portrayed as the perfect girl. She's very clumsy; she's not confident enough to follow her dreams, yet she does have a pretty good attitude about making the best of a situation; and she is on the heavier side, with thick glasses and out-of-control curly hair, often not the one that men take notice of.
This makes her very easy to relate to. I liked Richard too, but felt he could have been a little more developed. He comes across as a playboy, yet we don't see him in many situations that prove this to be wrong. He was very kind and compassionate, and obviously a doting dad, but I wish there had been a little more--emotion. There were a couple of very mild innuendos.
The misunderstandings were pretty funny. A short, sweet book that left me with a smile on my face. Katie's Clean Book Collection Review Feb 06, Roberta Capizzi rated it it was amazing. This is my second and a half book by Ginny Baird the half being a short story and I truly love her writing style. Ventura reminds a little of Bridget Jones at times, and I couldn't help but liking her from the very beginning. She's the girl anyone would want as their best friend. Unlike Bridget, though, Ventura is also smart and has goals, she's not rude and doesn't sleep around.
She's waiting to meet the man of her dreams and succeed in her career as a writer, but she knows her bulky frame due to her love for Chinese food and fortune cookies! What happens when she catches the eye of a hot and wealthy man at a party? You'll have to read the book and discover it by yourselves! All I can say is that I really enjoyed this book, from the plot to the characters, everything was captivating and entertaining. I loved the side characters, the twins, Mary, Nanette, Jason - they all played an important part in the story and in Ventura's life.
A clean romance that will hook you from the start and will make you laugh.
Apr 09, Nancy Goldberg rated it it was amazing. This is a great book--I absolutely loved it. From the first scene when Ventura has a date with her dad in the Chinese restaurant, I was hooked. My late husband introduced me to Chinese food--and fortune cookies. I loved Richard and Ventura and was glad there wasn't an overload of conflict between them.
Ventura's friends "new family" were wonderful and supportive and I loved Charles also. I hope there is a romance in his future. My Lucky Groom was a quick simple read. The storyline seemed like a been there done that plot. Fumbling fat girl if you consider a size 12 fat, I don't gets a makeover and meets the man of her dreams who just happens to be rich. A man who has two kids that were made out to be total brats but whom took to the main character Ventura Hart rather quickly and fell in love with her.
Ventura just has one amazing thing after another fall into her lap. This book was too over the top for me, especially My Lucky Groom was a quick simple read. This book was too over the top for me, especially for a story that was so brief. There was no real build up or connection to the characters. Where was the love story and seriously a proposel at the end even without a date. Maybe if there was more time spent together than it could have been a little believable. Also the kids are suppose to be a handful. She has two experiences with them than all of a sudden it skips till she knows two things they like and know everything is all good. A book with a lot of cute potential that I foun I started out really liking this book and finding myself a little addicted.

Her dreams have come true but not as expected. Mar 28, Bette Hansen rated it really liked it. An excellent story of a young woman trying to get her dream of being a journalist off the ground but not having much luck. She takes a job as a nanny and discovers that maybe the dream she's been chasing isn't exactly the one her heart wants. When she finally has a chance at the elusive job she's been after she finds that sometimes it's smarter to follow your heart.
Excellent sweet romance that will give a great afternoon of enjoyment. I definitely recommend it. Apr 17, Sally rated it it was ok. Really not much to this. Very simple writing, flimsy story. None of the characters rung true, no development there. The dialog did not sound authentic. Why, oh why, do authors insist on making the heroine a babbling, accident-prone idiot? It's not endearing, just embarrassing. She had a master's degree in journalism, give her some credit.
Apr 15, Stephanie Bolen rated it liked it. Cute, liked the fortune cookies that was different. But why do all "Rom-Coms" have to turn the girl into an uncoordinated mess.
My Lucky Groom
She's a smart girl graduated at the top of her class, and while he gets to come out smelling like a rose. You wonder how she has lived this long as accident prone as she is. Kind of disappointed with this one. I loved the Christmas Brides series and was expecting more of the same. This came off stilted and repetitive which bothered me a lot. The title didn't even seem to fit with the story at all.
