Mostly accurate, and an okay read. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. The following October I was baptised. For 10 years since I attended a Presbyterian seminary, I was searching. By the way, some seminaries are great places to discover how tenuous some theology really is! This is an excellent book for those who choose to seek answers rather than simply 'going along" with the many myths or outrignt "bad press" about the beliefs of the LDS church.

It is also a great self-study beginning for anyone interested in becoming a member of the LDS faith. The author's non-preaching way encourages understanding. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in opening their mind to the beliefs of others. One person found this helpful. Living in Utah half the year, I wanted a little more insight into the Mormon religion. This is concise and respectful - while being light and informative.

I'm not Mormon, but i'm actually trying to convert and this books is just perfect! This book is a good way to get one's feet wet with Mormonism.

I really liked it. However, it breezes over polygamy and doesn't give a clear view of womens' roles in the LDS Church.

I would recommend reading this book with American Apocrypha and looking up information on the "September Six" before deciding whether or not to become a Saint. Do not let the church tell you what you should and should not read. If they truly are a "true" church, then they shouldn't worry about any of their potential members reading potentially "anti-Mormon" material. See all 30 reviews.

I enjoyed his educational approach, I learned several interesting facts about a religion I have been a part of for close to 9 years now. Great read for family members or friends of Mormons to understand more about us. I am recommending this to my family members!
