Dirty Doe (For the Love of Money Book 1)

This is the first book in the series and gives a lot of background information so that you can have a solid foundation going forward. Shane Brandon is a good guy in a bad family. His dad is dying and his brother is corrupt. Jones comparing Shane to Jax Teller is what had me jumping to read this book. Shane is sexy, raw, but I also saw so many great qualities honest qualities. Even though the story is told through dual point of view I was left guessing and speculating.

Emily and Shane build this unexpected connection, but where does she stand? I am so intrigued by Emily and I want to like her, but I am also leery of what she is hiding. I will be honest this book at times felt slower. I actually think so much of that came from the amount of information we had to have to build the rest of the series. It can't hurt to have a little sexy time for himself But Emily is not without her own problems She was strong, but also sweet and soft in all the ways this life, and my family, has made me hard. Lots of troubles on the family, business and love-life-front for Shane - and we still don't know what Emily is hiding I had no idea what to expect.

I read something about Sons of Anarchy in the blurb and I expected Jax Teller to come riding to the rescue on his bike. A hot, tattooed, troubled lawyer trying to save the world. Or at least his little part of it. For all the people he cares about. And that now includes Emily too. I loved watching them both fight for and against each other and their problems. This will be an interesting series. It reminded me a bit of Lisa's Amy Bensen series! Lots of sexy, romantic, funny, mysterious, frustrating, suspensy and exciting moments!!! I can't wait to see where book 2 will take us!

Because we're SO not done with Shamily yet!!!!! Run to your nearest amazon to find out if there will be a HEA yet!!! If I had to find something negative I think it could've been at least 50 pages shorter without losing anything about the story. Because let's be real: What I got was a ruthless back stabbing family, secrets, betrayal and more secrets that left me completely exhausted. Shane Branson is a hotshot corporate lawyer that has it all.

But what you're rumning from your past, how can you possibly move on and be at ease with your present? I was left with more questions than answers and I felt like nothing was explained at all. I didn't FEEL their connection and they moved a little too fast for my liking. If you could overlook that and you love a hot alpha with some good ol family rival, then this book is for you.

I loved the fun way Emily and Shane meet, and I felt an immediate connection with both characters. They easily fall into flirtatious banter, and despite leading complicated lives that perhaps should have them running in the opposite direction, they find themselves undeniably drawn to each other. It quickly becomes clear that Emily is hiding a mysterious past. Her life is one big lie, which makes dating a man who desires trust difficult. Meanwhile, Shane is in the midst of a family war over control of the empire his corrupt father has built.

Emily could wind up collateral damage—with both her heart and body in danger. You might want to grab a bucket of popcorn while reading this so you can sit back and really enjoy every backstabbing, calculating, shocking moment of this messed up family. As much as I enjoyed the story, there are some shortcomings. She pushes him away and then gets mad when he respects her wishes to keep his distance.

But the more he has of her, the more he wants despite the danger he fears he may be putting her in by associating with his family. Emily Stevens has come to live in Denver and as it happens, she was just hired at his company as his father's assistant. She needs the job and is afraid of losing it once everyone finds out she is having an affair with one of her bosses.

There is also a little mystery surrounding her, what caused her to be there and who the heck is she talking to on those burner phones? I enjoyed the first part of the book, I was intrigued by the mystery surrounding the business. I could have read more about the happenings and mishaps of the business which I know we will get in book 2. What I didn't care for as much was the middle through to the end.

I felt things progressed slowly, too slowly for me.

See a Problem?

I found myself skimming to get past the stuff I didn't care about. This back and forth was too repetitive. Also, to go an entire book without any real information about her and why she was there, who she was talking to etc. I realize this is a series, so things need to be withheld, but we also need a little information to keep us interested to read the rest. Will I read the next book, probably because I want to know what is going to happen with his family's business and see how that plays out.

I really enjoyed that aspect of 'Hard Rules'. An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review and did not influence my opinion of the book. I really liked this story and its characters but I totally understand why some people had problems with it. It was a bit slow, there was not enough descriptive sex in it, the whole secret thing that Emily was hiding for the entire book, that we still did not have answers for and my god that prologue!!

It was 4 I like drama stars I am sure my moods play a huge part in weather I like a book or not, I had a really bad week and was in a sad and somber mood which matched this books pace. So unless I am missing something why was it there at all? After getting the negative out of the way, some positives. I loved the family drama in this book, not knowing who we should trust or go for.

I thought the character development was good and the writing felt mature if that even makes sense. Emily is strong and independent and seems to get even stronger near the end. I fell for the secretary Jessica her spunk and I do as I want attitude was welcoming but of course for me the winner is Shane that man got me all sorts of HOT.

Aug 05, Shannon Moore rated it really liked it Shelves: Let's just get to the nitty gritty, shall we? Now hear this, my good friends: I would not lie to you, I simply can't. I don't know if I was all of a sudden drunk while reading or just couldn't follow along or what, but apparently some pieces were just going completely over my head.

But don't worry, Let's just get to the nitty gritty, shall we? But don't worry, I figured it out eventually LOL. After a few days of mulling this over, I think I've come to a conclusion as to why this may be. Personally, I feel like there was too much going on in the one book of this new series. It seems like the author thought of this grand plot, and then decided to shove all of the ground work and baselines in to one novel, without a lot of anything else.

It just seems like a lot to take in all at once, and I think this is where my biggest problem derives from. With being confused at different times throughout the book, I found that I wasn't really getting as into it as I had originally hoped. There were a few times I had to reread pages and paragraphs because I simply had no clue as to what was happening, or I was just becoming bored. This doesn't mean I still don't have a million and one questions, but this section hooked me and didn't release. I think I'll be stuck with this series for a while, because I just have to know what happens!

I guess on the flip side of the coin, this means I have absolutely no clue what's going to happen or where this story might go. I don't know or have guesses as to how it'll turn out, who might do what, where loyalties lie, any of it. Now the ending to Hard Rules has some of these elements, but I didn't think it was as intense as I maybe would have hoped.

Based on how it ended, I feel like it's going to be a pretty easy fix from the current situation to get back on track. It may not seem that way for everyone, but I've got a fairly reasonable idea of how to fix said predicament. One of the first things that I noticed about Shane and Emily was the fact that not only were they both quick and witty, but they can hold a conversation. And I'm not just talking about a flirty, "I think he's cute", type of conversation. There was substance, they could speak about important topics and the other would always have a thought, idea, opinion, and wouldn't be afraid to voice it.

And these two were excellent at thinking on their feet, which was both important and impressive considering the situations that they're dealing with. I loved all this! It was so much more than just fluff. Then, when the conversations turned to quick witted banter, I was thrilled. Overall I really enjoyed these characters and how they play off of each other. Shane seems super alpha which I love, and I appreciate how Emily can and will stand up to him and his family.

I'm quite excited to see how this all plays out. In fact, I think I'm left with only questions, I'm not sure if i was given a single answer during Hard Rules. But you know what? That just makes me that much more eager to figure out what the heck is going on. Whether you want to call them themes or just issues that play a major part in the story, I loved the back and forth between both of the characters gaining and giving trust and control.

It was a constant struggle, the push and pull, but it was exciting to watch and experience the characters going through the emotions dealing with this challenge. I'm excited to see how this give and take continues in the subsequent novels. I knew it ended with a cliffhanger, so I thought it might just be two books but no, it's four! There is a lot going on for this to become four books but at this point I'm quite intrigued and excited for the next one. As I already mentioned, the last fifth or so of the book really captured my attention and now I'm dying to see what happens next with Emily, Shane and Brandon Enterprises.

Can he be trusted? Can Destiny and Alex trust each other?

So a plan is formulated and enacted. The bad When you are caught in a trap through no fault of your own, but due to the greed of a Mafia father and son, who use the feelings for your own father to ensnare you, it doesn't take a lot for you to turn on those that have used your talents to aid them in gaining more illegally gotten gains. The bad guys are brought to justice. Can you now settle into a normal domestic lifestyle?? This book covers all this and more in such a way, you are routing for Alex and Destiny, hoping there isn't a hidden gunman, waiting for them along their way.

When we like an author we're always eager for more books to read, I know what I'm talking about because as soon as I heard that this author had one more book I barely could fit in myself. I was so happy. As you know Tia Lewis is a super gifted author, very attentive to detail and can evoke feelings in us who are very well hidden.

This book explores the lives of Destiny and Alex. Destiny is a beautiful woman but that is tied to the Mafia. For her life she is obliged to obey the wishes, whims and follies of the Chief's son. She is taken to seduce customers with which they will do business. By working side by side with Destiny the attraction is palpable but impossible since this beautiful woman belongs to the leader.

Is the line between attraction and love so thin? Will love speak louder than fear? A lot happened that will let you super nervous. My god the suspense is at its highest level. How far can go the madness of a man? Is it possible to escape the clutches of the mafia? I can't answer that question but I can tell and ensure that the reading will be worth it.

And the hot scenes will drive you crazy. There will be more books co-written by you? I hope so because this mix was explosive. Nov 27, Lisa Menor rated it it was amazing. Destiny knows the Sputafuoco's have something on Alex Alex is not your typical mafia associate. Alex is an IT genius that creates software that proves to be very useful to Angelo and Frank. Alex has a few more clients to sell to, per his terms with the Sputafuocos, and he's home free. Destiny isn't so lucky. She hopes her life will get better because of the loyalty she has shown. What she learns, may destroy her. Destiny is attracted to Alex in a way she has never felt before. Alex wants her also, but he also knows Destiny belongs to Angelo.

Alex doesn't know the whole truth though. He may not want her after he learns it. I especially liked that it saw the characters through to completion. I enjoyed this story. It had a good story and good characters. Alex and Destiny have both ended up involved with the mafia but neither one of them are particularly happy about it. They get stuck together working a con and get to know each other during the process. The book starts in the middle of the con so Alex and Destiny have already been around each other for awhile. This made things more believable relationship-wise for me. The book had a good steady pace. Alex and Destiny aren't quite sure I enjoyed this story. Alex and Destiny aren't quite sure where the other stands regarding the mafia and what they want.

Destiny didn't realize exactly what she was becoming involved in when it all started but now she knows that she doesn't have much of a choice but she doesn't like what her life is. Alex is involved because someone he is close to has a debt that he's trying to pay off. Neither one of them are really trusted by the mafia and so that adds another dimension to the story. The sex is explicit but not very often, especially in the first half of the book. It makes total sense once you get into the story. There were a few twists to the story and enough going on to keep your attention on the story.

Today's technology has proven that you can rig just about anything to do about anything. Alex just wanted to get on with his life's plan and was well on his way And he wasn't in trouble by any old Joe, but in with the mafia.

Hard Rules

While working his magic to get his dad out from behind the eight ball Alex was partnered up with Destiny who was one of Angelo's girls. And then we find ourselves on a true Talk about a bit of slight of hand in this story. And then we find ourselves on a true roller coaster ride of intrigue. Everyone was watching the other and Alex and Destiny were caught in the middle of it all. I voluntarily read this Advanced Review Copy and enjoyed the action from start to finish. The characters were well developed, the plot was believable, and the interaction kept you turning the page to see what would happen next.

I'm giving this 4stars for the action alone. The book is well worth the price of admission and what I've already said above gives only a small taste of what is in store for the reader. This is not the fist time that I have the chance to read Tia, but I'm very new to Roxy, this book was really good, I can't say that I didn't want more because I did, the story of a girl looking a glamorous life, living in the middle of the Mafia.

I've enjoyed this book, I love a good Mafia book and I loved without spoilers Destiny's actitud, how real it was, like sometimes we read book that change from hate to insta love and in some stories that's not very good or doesn't look good. When they end up having to work together they aren't sure that either of them will live through it. Can they help and save each other or will their love be lost to the choices they have made? This was a enjoyable read that was filled with action, suspense, treachery, and romance, and the characters were likable. I do have a few issues, I would have liked Alex to have said he have told Destiny he loved her, he thought it but never actually told her, and for me the epilogue felt a little flat, like something was missing.

Well what a partnership and what a fantastic book, I loved all the different elements with the Mafia and computer genius it was so exciting and fast paced, I really liked everything about this book. The main characters were fantastic and they both had great back stories that brought the love Tia Lewis and I had never read anything by Roxy Sinclaire so I was very excited to dive in and being Mafia made it even more exciting I have been reading a lot of this genre lately and really getting into it.

Thoughts like how the things I felt sitting next to this man right now were wider and deeper than lust and desire. They moved further into other realms. But after a while, of course, she couldn't help but get attached. Or read it because you like fantastic writing, which Laurelin paige, no doubt, delivers here. This is a first installment of the duet so there's a bit of a cliffy at the end. No worries, it won't make you want to rip your hair out.

Dirty Filthy Rich Men was everything I've come to expect from Laurelin's books, but I'm still constantly wow'd with her story lines and phenomenal writing! I love the fact this book is based on the amazing movie, Sabrina. But this story is dirtier, filthier, and so much more powerful and emotional!

If you've seen the movie, then you'll know the base premise of what the book is about. But what you don't expect or know will happen is the deep emotional ties the characters have with each other. The character's undeniable magnetism smolders with heat; raw and carnal desires consume them with need. The prequel, Dirty Filthy Rich Boys, is a great jump off point to understanding each character. From there you have Sabrina, the shy and young introvert with a mad infatuation with Weston. Weston, the lively and carefree playboy, with enough charm to seduce a nun, completely counters the dark, rugged, and brooding Donovan.

Each one of them has their own backstory, and their relationships intertwine with one another throughout the entire book. They each grow into the strong woman and men they are because of what they've experienced leading up to now. But the true enigma of the story is Donovan - it's a complete mystery as to what made him the man he is now.

You learn small bits of information, but nothing will prepare you for the shock of what actually happens, or the heartbreaking realization that a HEA may not be in the cards for him in the end. Dirty Filthy Rich Men is a captivating page-turner that will make you burn from the inside out. This book immerses the reader into the world of secrets, lies, passion, and torment. Laurelin's writing is truly unparalleled! Her unique ability at storytelling is a testament to her legitimate status as an incredible author.

Without a doubt, a top-ten must read of ! View all 5 comments. Sabrina is an ad exec, and comes across Weston and Donovan, the boys men who she has spent the last few years thinking of, once again. Her long ago crush on Weston is still lingering, though she is still infatuated with Donovan even with the dirty way they left things off. In this installment, I was indifferent to Weston. Sabrina is a heroine I had a hard time connecting to. She was self-absorbed and indecisive.

And Donovan's whole "whenever I show interest I have to negate it with being an asshole" bit got old real quick. My biggest issue with this book is there is essentially no story line. Her thoughts were basically comprised of: He's a nice guy. Weston will never be enough. I like how dark and depraved he is. Actually, I do want to fuck Donovan. Maybe I like Weston? No, I want Donovan. My boredom with this was just intensified since the book is told mainly in Sabrina's POV. I got whiplash from her changing feelings and was extremely annoyed with her constant complaining and repetitive thoughts.

This book just didn't do it for me. But with little else going on for majority of this story, this was a chore for me to get through. I realize LP is a big author. I realize this was a coveted book. But I cannot lie and pretend that this story involved anything more than overused tropes with barely likable characters and a nonexistent story line.

I love this story and the constant push and pull between the characters. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next. Donovan, Laurelin Paige continues to blow me away with this series! Donovan, in particular, has my rapt attention. He is certainly one of the most contradictory heroes that I've ever encountered.

He is aloof, possessive and completely confusing. Naturally, I cannot get enough! I am appalled by some of his harsh and inconsiderate behaviors. I want to hate him, but I can't. Like Sabrina, I am under his spell. Weston also comes to life in this book. While 'Dirty Filthy Rich Boys' predominantly featured Sabrina's fantasy version of who Weston was, this book introduces readers to the real Weston.

Despite some less than flattering behaviors, I have to say that I really liked Weston. After all, he never pretended to be something that he wasn't. Underneath his manwhore ways, he ends up being a pretty decent guy. Sabrina has certainly got her hands full with both of these dirty, filthy, rich men in this book. My head was spinning at times. Talk about an emotional roller coaster! I was glued to the pages of this book. If you love angsty, emotionally charged love stories, then you don't want to pass this one up.

I am hooked on this story! There are plenty of surprising twists and turns along the way that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Not to mention, it is hot, hot, hot! Days later, I'm still thinking about these characters and where this story might lead. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book! As an aside, 'Dirty Filthy Rich Boys' is included as the prologue in this book. So, if you haven't already read it separately, you'll get the backstory with this one also.

I expected nothing less than perfection when I started Dirty Filthy Rich Men but I have to say I was still surprised at the enchanting story you tell, the characters that I screamed at, cried for, swooned over from the very first page.

Dirty Filthy Rich Men has literally left me speechless. I can't thank Laurelin Paige enough for delivering one of my favourite reads of This book was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. Laurelin's writing is flawless and so oh so addictive. I can now say that this is hands down my favourite book of hers. The story picks up ten years later from where Dirty Filthy Rich Boys leaves off. If you haven't read the novella, it's included in the book.

I'm not going to dive too deep into the storyline simply because I really want you to experience this beautiful, brilliant, sexy, addictive story yourself. We are introduced to Sabrina Lind and Donovan Kincaid siiiiiigh. There are honestly no words to describe the deep connection and chemistry between Sabrina and Donovan. They just fit so perfectly together.

Their relationship is intense, explosive and addictive as fuck. I honestly couldn't get enough of them. Overall, Dirty Filthy Rich Men is sexy, captivating, frustrating, and emotional. This book will consume you and leave you begging for MORE. The wait until Dirty Filthy Rich Love is going to be t. Trust me, you HAVE to read this bad boy. Mrs Paige, you have, once again, done a brilliant job! In every way that it meant I was sick and shameful, I embraced it.

I don't know whether to rip my hair out of my head, get a brace for the emotional whiplash I just endured, or get my head examined. I'm not even kidding here, people. I wanted to drop kick the hero for the majority of the book. Not in the balls though. He put those to good use. I also wanted to shake the heroine for hope that she'll see reason.

My eye was ticking. I wanted to chuck my kindle at the wall. And yet, I couldn't stop reading it. This story was a delicious hot mess, and I was like an addict, hoping for another morsel. What is wrong with me? The answer is quite simple here, because such is the mastery of Laurelin Paige.

She can take a story with two entirely depraved and messed up individuals. She can make them go through hell and back and put each other through even more. She can make you rage, scream in frustration, and keep you glued to the pages because you're that riveted. Just as I was certain that he knew that part of it was real too. It doesn't get more intoxicating and enraging as Donovan Kincaid. The man is cold, ruthless, domineering and magnetic. He's an asshole of the highest order. And we all know that happens to be my catnip. Dirty Filthy Rich Men is told in two parts; the first retelling the first time Donovan and Sabrina crossed paths.

Sabrina as a young and naive seventeen year old at Harvard with a crush on Weston, the cute playboy that doesn't seem to notice her. Donovan as the brooding and mysterious teacher's aid and Weston's friend. They share something the changes the course of Sabrina's life and even though ten years have now passed since that day, she still can't seem to forget.

She's grown up now. A professional in her own right and still questioning her sexuality and the unnerving urges that she still can't seem to get over. A chance encounter with an old crush leads her right into the cross hairs of the man that not only stirs her blood, but makes it boil. His eyes glinted in the dimly lit stairway, like an animal. If you're thinking this is a love triangle, fear not. There's not even a question of who Sabrina has true chemistry with. Too bad that person also happens to play the kind of mind games that will make even your head spin.

These two are antagonistic and downright messed up together, yet the chemistry between them is so strong, it practically crackles. I can't tell you that I loved every page, because there were times that Donovan's constant back and forth and hot and cold drove me out of my ever loving mind. And yet, I still couldn't stop panting after him. Laurelin Paige is the queen of skating that fine edge of depravity and chemistry. This is not your run of the mill romance. It's interspersed with just the perfect touch of dark desire to whet your appetite. It's captivating and magnetic. It was mind blowing enraging and panty melting hot.

This author has the most intriguing characters, but I think Donavan has intrigued me the most. He No one tells a story like Laurelin Paige. He's just so delicious. Filled with Sex appeal. I couldn't get enough. I just want to rip off their ties and tell them to spank me. Did I tell you it's HOT? It is soooooo HOT!!!!!! Seriously if you love your men Dirty, Filthy and Rich, then this book is for you.

It's a good representation of the story. Has good compostion and nice typography. It was just OK for me. Honestly, these supposed "adults" acted more like children with the constant back and forth.
