The Education of Lilanoir Rue (Sanguis City)
Sanguis City Prequels Sanguis City 0.
Lilanoir Rue, a side effect of The End of the world, has never had a say in her future until now. A rift between two factions of the Human Reservation is growing and she is offered a life with the man she loves. But nothing is ever normal for Lily, even something as simple as love. Used to being called a monster, Lily meets a real one at the worst possible moment but finds out that he isn't the only one she needs to fear.
Lilanoir's world has been turned upside down, again, in My Name is Noir, making her flee to the city that she has been avoiding for six long months, the city of blood. Life is certainly different than where she grew up on the Human Reservation. Lily knows that the city is ruled by the Vampires that took over the world but she doesn't know where she fits in, she isn't exactly a vampire. She soon discovers that her fangs are the ticket to the good life. It seems all she has to do is change her name and she can have it all. That is if only Tombs, the University's researcher, would leave her alone.

Lists with This Book. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. They can be purchased separately, or the can be purchased together in this book. This is where it all begins and it explains a bit where Lily came from. This is the first of two prequels to the Sanguis City series. Lilanoir, aka Lily, is definitely an intriguing character. She is shunned and outcasted by not only her mother, but also from her town. She is called a monster and has supernatural strength and speed, hinting at the fact that she is a bit "different", but it's not quite fully revealed yet.
The world is also quite different. It's a post-apocalyptic setting where humans are to live only in designated areas called Human Reservations. They are essentially like our Indian Reservations in the US in the sense that they are close-knit, and some people have even chosen to adopt different aspects of the American Indian culture, mainly Cherokee. Anything outside these areas are deemed dangerous and uninhabitable. She goes back to her town to speak to her mother, and that's really when things get interesting. There were a few minor errors, mainly with the improper word being used - plaque instead of plague, devote as opposed to devout.
It wasn't bad enough to pull me out of the story, which is always a good thing. I've been interested in this series for a while now, and decided to get a feel by reading the prequels. Based on this one alone, I am interested enough to move to the actual series. This follows Lily's arrival in Sanguis City This is the second prequel to the Sanguis City series, but I feel as if maybe this one should be read after starting the series as opposed to before.
There were some instances where I felt a bit lost such as the many mentions of Jack, or the fact that she stayed with him for 6 months before coming to the Big City. Regardless of not fully "getting" some things from this story, it does make me want to move to the actual series. There's something interesting to be had - bleeders, vampires, the fact that Lily is still running despite the fact she thought this place was safe.
And there's a potential love interest, I'm always a sucker for a bit of romance: Feb 14, Melanie Marsh added it.
I'm not going to leave a rating for this book because I don't think it would be right. There were several places where I didn't quite understand what was going on, and I think it's because I should have read the first book first. Aside from my confusion, I did enjoy the writing and the storyline itself. The characters were interesting, and I almost cried at the end. I am currently read I'm not going to leave a rating for this book because I don't think it would be right.
I am currently reading Sanguis City and having read the prequels helps a little in knowing Noir's backstory, but I think if you are going to read the prequels, you should probably wait until you have read the first book. Or ask the author what she thinks is a better idea. I don't think waiting until the end of the first book will hurt anything other than that extra insight into her past and the people she interacted with. Feb 19, Andretta Schellinger rated it really liked it Shelves: This book is actually two stories in one. The first is a prequel regarding how Lily started her life and her relationship with Crow.
The second is after Lily arrives at Sanguis City and becomes Noir. I have not read any of the series but I find the prequels to be informative and very interesting. I think that it is important in understanding how Lily comes about and why she has not only become a bleeder but moved to Sanguis City. The writing is good and I am very interested in the rest of the seri This book is actually two stories in one.
The writing is good and I am very interested in the rest of the series. This is mostly due to the fact that the author is very good at creating the world and really describing the characters in such a way you feel connected to them. It is relatively short due to the nature of the prequels and so you are left with some questions, but for the most part the author is very good at answering questions and resolving any conflicts the characters may have.
Apr 22, Lara Galgani rated it liked it Shelves: If, like me, you are really into vampires, of any sort, you may enjoy these short stories and may want to check the series, if not I doubt you will like it. With this I do not mean that it is a rip-off or similar in plot to Twilight but it is a story where vampires, humans and other creatures have relationships, fall in love etc.

But you'll like that part.
Sanguis City
Morgan Jane has totally captivated me with this story, and I am dying to learn more about what happens to Lily. I am really looking forward to reading Sanguis City, and I would be lying if I said I didn't want to know more about Crow as well. He just sounds dreamy, swoonworthy and utterly intriguing. My name is Noir is a perfect prequel to Sanguis City! We learn more about Noir's journey from the reservation to the city along with the recounting of her first run in with Tombs.
This series is very unique, introducing us to a new "breed" the Bleeders. A product of the vaccine utilizing vampire DNA to cure the epidemic that is ending the world as they know it. Breeders are in high demand as the vamps need them to run their city during the day, but at what price does this come to them?
