The dialogue and character development seemed a little weak to me in the first book, but I thought there was a definite improvement in both areas in this book. The dialogue sounded more realistic, and we got to know the characters and their backgrounds a bit better, which really helped me form a better connection with them and their relationships.

For example, why did Adelaide tell Libby to find the beacon and to hold onto Randall? I was expecting something bigger to happen. But that moment never came.

So the end ended up feeling more like, "Ok, you found my necklace. Good scavenger hunt," which felt a little flat. The book is centralized around Libby, who finds the journal of a girl named Adelaide. Adelaide starts to appear in Libby's dreams and Darren tries to help her unravel the truth. I enjoyed the book all the way through and Alesha is definitely one of my new favorite authors! Can't wait for the next installment of the series! Hope you enjoy it!!
