Breaskfast was served quickly and there were a few options to choose from, which was nice. Having travelled 4 hours from the north, I was exhausted on arrival, and the lovely receptionist helped me upstairs with my bags, and gave some options for food as the kitchen was closed at the time of my arrival.
They forgot to replenish our coffee sachets in our room, but when hubby asked for some in the morning , HK not available Nice size room, and modern bathroom. Very good meal in he pub restaurant in the evening. Plenty of free parking. No marmelade for breakfast for two days. A nice and silent room. The evening dinner was only mediocre and not good value for money. The room was decidedly chilly when we first arrived.
A large and comfortable bed. Was told queen bed but 2 singles pushed together. Interlocking door to room next to ours held shut by placing chair in front. Drinking glasses in room disgusting. Sink water pressure very low. I asked for no egg or tomatoe got a plate full of cold beans and mushrooms - inedible. Husbands Sunnyside up egg rock hard. Was utterly dissatisfied with this "4" star accommodation. Would like a response to my email. Shower, no pressure and little flow, Room very cold, Radiator not working Needed electric heaters, supplied Evening waiting staff NOT up to the job, Red wine served very cold, had to ask it twice, and white wine turned up No carafes available though still on the wine list.
Doors and loud voices from 6. Would maybe think of slow door closers to stop the doors banging shut. Nice and clean very nice front of house staff. Very friendly staff and well located, we also ate here was really nice food If you were staying in Dunmow i would recommend for sure. I had eggs Royal, which came to the table cold. It was tasty, but cold I thought we were staying in the old part of the building so was excited for that. The breakfast provided was lovely and the staff were very kind!
Cleanliness of the rooms and common areas could be better. Fixtures and fittings - a little tired, some broken. Limited evening meal menu which did not represent value for money in my opinion. Location and availability to get an evening meal without the need to travel. On site parking Wi-Fi access. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the cooked breakfast very good , beds super comfy. I am really surprised at the ratings of this hotel because the facilities are old and tired. We had an executive room 11 and our room wasn't clean, there were cobwebs on the walls, the bathroom had dirt on the walls and it felt icky.
At breakfast, we were given dirty cups and crockery and our breakfast was wrong even after requesting the correct meal. We asked for well-cooked eggs both days but each time they came back runny. I asked for a glass of water to take back to our room and one of the cups was dirty, which we discovered when we got back to our room. At the end of breakfast, the server was packing all the extra croissants into a bag with his hands, after he had just finished clearing tables and cleaning.
As it is also a bar, at night it is really noisy. I was really disappointed with our stay, it would have been a better experience at a Premier Inn in terms of the quality of the hotel and food. The staff were friendly which honestly is the only highlight of the hotel. Room a bit cold. On arrival the heating was not working, the outside temperature was 3C, I informed the receptionist whilst we went to dinner, two hours later on my return, mine and my colleagues room the heating was still not working.
It was working in the corridor! Eventually somebody came to attend to the radiators. The bathroom heater rail was not working at any time. Disappointing second visit as all was fine 2 weeks earlier! We had been told this week was going to be very cold, so this was a lack of preparation by the management. The food is very good and well presented.

I was upgraded and bought a gin and tonic as I complained at the lack of draught beer. Evening meal was excellent Rebecca, United Kingdom. I was unexpectedly upgraded to a lovely double room. I wanted my kids to grow up around that. Down-to-earth Glasgow reaches its apotheosis at the Barras, the city's famous weekend street market. Head down Gallowgate, where the grand city buildings fall away, to be replaced with a collection of sheds, warehouses, tenements and low-rise buildings.
There are some established stores - McIver's Market and Glickman's, with its varieties of sweets - but otherwise entering the Barras is like wandering into a medieval fair. The shops and pavement stalls sell everything from laptop computers and bootleg CDs to plaster-of-Paris figurines, fruit and vegetables, halogen heaters and wallpaper. The smell of samosas, chips and burgers hangs in the air. Thick crowds drift through the narrow streets; a few lairy-looking lads in baseball caps hang around; policemen in pairs keep an eye on them.
And all the while there's non-stop patter from the traders.

I stopped in at the Saracen Head, supposedly the oldest pub in Glasgow, with hard wooden benches and a stripped-down interior. The place was full of locals in expansive mood - that is, half-cut. Glaswegians, always sociable, become even more so when they've had a few. Sassenachs, surprisingly, are welcomed. Less so are citizens of the Scottish capital.

He ordered another hauf an' hauf and stood the same for me. Outside in the Barras there was live music playing from an Irish bar and people were dancing in the doorway. A man asked if I wanted any CDs for three quid each. He handed them over and disappeared. Not everyone, however, admires the Barras' laissez-faire attitude. Microsoft apparently has instructed its lawyers to investigate the pirated software that changes hands each weekend. I sympathise, but I doubt that they will have much luck. Old Glasgow has seen off far worse threats than that. Glasgow in the gloaming: Victorian gin palace with an ornate interior and the longest continuous bar in the UK.
Friendly staff; highly reasonable food and drink; restaurant upstairs. The Saracen Head Gallowgate Former customers include Burns, Boswell and Dr Johnson. The economist Adam Smith was ejected after calling the doctor a "son of a bitch", and something of a feisty atmosphere remains.
