His Witness To Evil

Total number of sex scene pages: View all 4 comments. I am just enthralled with Jordon's writing. Her characters are stellar as is her writing. She makes putting down her book for any reason nigh impossible. She is an auto-buy for me! Stephanie is a mother of two and separated from her husband. All she wants to do is be strong for her children, taking them on a camping trip to show them that life will still go on. Things go bad quickly as an accident near the campgrounds drops Stephanie in the middle of a deadly situation.

She learns two devastating secrets: John is a cop who's been through hell and back. He's lost his partner and his family to his job, but he hides his tortured soul well and quickly becomes a rock for Stephanie and her family as they're forced to go into witness protection. What I really loved about this story was the characters. Both John and Stephanie were very strong and realistic people, dealing with life and coming to terms with the mistakes of their past, while thrown into dangerous situations that were out of their control.

Also in stories with children, it's important that they're realistically portrayed and integral to the story. John's interactions with Stephanie's children were heartwarming and they really gave a sense that somehow, these people had formed a family while on the run. In between dodging bullets and explosions, John and Stephanie fall for each other in a romance that grew deeper as they came to know more about one another.

I thought the book was nicely balanced and look forward to reading more from Autumn Jordan. I should have worn gloves while reading. This fast-paced story with all of its twists and turns captured my attention from the start and held me riveted to the end.

The romance between them was palpable and convincing, the chemistry sizzled. The secondary characters were also well crafted and supported the story. I really enjoyed this book and give it a high-five! Aug 17, Hbeebti rated it really liked it Shelves: Stephanie and her two children are at the wrong place and time and witness something that they shouldn't. They are taken into to the protection of FBI agent John.

John had been working on this case and Stephanie is their only real lead. Many things go wrong and I was kinda bummed because the mole was pretty obvious to me. I had that person figured out from the moment it stepped onto the page. I wish that it was more of a surprise. This book was fast paced and full of action. I really Stephanie and her two children are at the wrong place and time and witness something that they shouldn't. I really enjoyed the slow process of John and Stephanie falling in love. John's past was so very sad. But with Stephanie and her children he seemed to slowly heal.

I loved that John was willing to let go of the pain and move on and that made it all the more sweet. Ok my one complaint was that the ending needed a little something more.

I hope that there will more books and maybe turn into a series. But I usually don't like them together. But I did like this one, mainly because it was paced very well. The writing is tight and the dialogue realistic. I think all the reactions by the heroine to be very much how I would feel- a whole range of emotions, but mostly the need to keep her kids safe.

The romance may seem to blossom quickly but I think under the circumstances, it is believable. I also enjoyed the interactions with the children. Obvious I'll be honest. Jordan is well acquainted with children and their "needs. The love story was a beautiful part of the book. I think even my dad would enjoy this one: Jul 27, Jenn Green rated it it was amazing. I loved this book!! Action-packed right from the beginning. Nov 06, Victoria rated it liked it Shelves: Novella length, lower steam than I normally read, but overall a pretty good read for a quick story I picked up free.

Read this on my Kindle and couldn't 'turn' the pages fast enough. Jordon out did herself on this one! Mar 21, Elisa Beatty rated it it was amazing. A great plot setup for some very intense, fast-paced, scary romantic suspense! Jordon makes you care about the characters right away--and the stakes are high.

Witness to Evil (Jeri Howard #7)

This was an action packed romance with a touch of suspense. When Stephanie witnesses a horrific crime, FBI agent John Dalton is out in charge of protecting her and her two children. John is no stranger to heartache but somehow Stephanie worms her way into his heart. John will to anything to protect Stephanie and her kids, but can her discover where the leak is before harm comes to them all? His Witness to Heal was an easy read, if slightly predictable. I loved that the author kept the mole a bit o This was an action packed romance with a touch of suspense. I loved how the relationships between John and the Boyd family seemed natural and unforced.

Jan 09, Kelly rated it really liked it Shelves: This was another freebie ebook and I really enjoyed it. It was three stories high, blocking the view of the house behind it. Terracotta-colored stucco and a brown tile roof contributed to a vaguely Spanish-Italian-Mediterranean look. A three-car garage with a short driveway presented its face to Sea View Parkway. I parked my Toyota here, alongside a contractor's truck and a late-model Mercedes. Then I followed a path that led around to the left, where a few steps led up to a porch and the double front doors, one of them ajar.

As I stepped into a spacious foyer, I heard the whine of a power saw coming from somewhere above me, accompanied by a radio playing country music. Several voices conversed in Spanish. A wide uncarpeted staircase curved up to my right, while ahead of me I saw an open airy space that looked as though it was going to be a enormous kitchen when it grew up. On my immediate left was an area probably intended as a formal dining room, but as yet there was no table beneath the spiky modern chandelier.

See a Problem?

Beyond this, a foot lower and anchored by a massive stone fireplace, was a living room, also uncarpeted. It was bigger than my one-bedroom apartment over in the Adams Point section of Oakland. I walked slowly toward a wall of glass, windows and a sliding door looking out onto the bay, with a sweeping view of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco beyond.

The water reflected the glare of the afternoon sun. I turned from the bay and looked back the way I'd come, seeing several paint cans arrayed against the dining room wall.

Carpet samples and books of fabric swatches were piled in the corner. The huge kitchen featured lots of blinding white tile and bleached pine cabinets, with a rectangular work island in the middle. There was a big gap on one wall, next to the window over the white porcelain sink, where the refrigerator would go.

On the counter between this and the sink, someone had set up a white Braun coffeemaker, its carafe half-full of strong black coffee, and, next to it, a motley collection of plastic mugs. I was alone, save for the workers upstairs. Then a woman with straight shoulder-length brown hair came through the sliding glass door that led from the living room to the small rectangle of dirt that was the yard, fronting on the Shoreline Trail.

She wore loose-fitting blue slacks with a matching jacket over an ivory blouse, and sandals with low heels. A slim leather shoulder bag completed this ensemble. She had a cordless phone glued to her left ear.

She was talking and gesturing with her right hand. You're three weeks behind anyway. A couple of runners jogged by on the trail, followed by a cyclist and an elderly woman walking a frisky golden retriever. The woman with the phone listened impatiently to the other person's half of the conversation. She walked into the kitchen, poured some coffee into a mug, then swallowed a mouthful. A great read and highly recommended!

One person found this helpful. His Witness to Evil was well written, had a believeable story line and strong, likable characters who were easy to identify with. Not only did you want Stephanie, John, Bobby and Em to get through the trauma that brought them together in one piece, you wanted them to be able to stay together. The chemistry, devotion and trust of these characters in each other would inspire anyone who has suffered an incredible loss to keep believing.

Things can change in an instant and even though you can imagine what might happen next, you don't know for sure until it happens. That was how this book read. When I finished the book a day after I started it , I went looking for more of Ms. Since there are only two other books available at this time, I will need to pace myself and hope that Autumn Jordon is working on her fourth!

Thank you Amazon for putting this book on the Kindle free book list. Otherwise, I might have missed it! This was a great novel with elements of suspense, romance, mystery and crime. The main heroine is Stephanie Boyd who is a divorced mother of 2 children. She and her kids witness a crime that involved her ex-husband and she is on the run. Protecting her is John Dolton, who is an agent charged not only to protect them but to solve the crime. The traitor was fairly obvious but the relationship between the characters was believable and real.

I enjoyed the fast paced action scenes as well as the character development of John. I'm excited to find a new author and will eagerly look for more books by Autumn Jordan. This is a great thriller. As much as the normal people in our country do not encounter the evil that is written about by this writer, it is a fact that that there are many really violent, evil, unconscionable persons here waiting to take what they can by any means possible from you.

This writer has given you a story that could have come from the many organized crime families now operating in this country. If you're looking for a fast paced, page turning romantic suspense, then His Witness to Evil fits the bill. This book starts off with a bang and never slows down.

I think one of the best parts about the book is the fast pacing. I loved the hero, Agent John Dolton. His character development was the high point of the book for me. He is dealing with the loss of his family and he finds love protecting a widow and her two children. The heroine, Stephanie, is believable and the family element adds a nice touch to this suspense. The villains are what they should be, and the plot twists are solid.
