WAY OF THE WITCH (The Witch Saga Book 1)

The story flowed reasonably well, though there were times when I though it could have flowed more evenly or better. I recommend it to everyone. I look forward to reading more about Evie and her life. I received this as part of the Amazon Scout Program. This includes crushes, friendships, a new school, parents, and coming to terms with who she really is Evie had no inkling this was even a possibility until sparks flew from her finger tips and burned down the science lab at her school. Which is why she had to move to a new school.

She also had no idea she had a grandmother…who might also be a witch. This idea could have been handled in any number of ways. It could have been derivative, trite, or silly. Fortunately, Tate uses the idea as a metaphor for any young person trying to figure out who they are and who they might like to be. Each of us has talents, hopes, and dreams. Some of us are athletic, cerebral, or artistic.

Some of us are shy and others are outgoing.

Each of us can embrace who we are or fight against it. One of the delightful parts of this books is how at Evie learns about herself, and accepts herself, as she navigates the tricky waters of high school and, as a bonus, solves a mystery passed down through the generations. None of us have a choice. We simply are who we are. Jul 24, Rebecca rated it really liked it Shelves: This book took a unique angle to a teen and witchy powers.

Don't get me wrong, the book is not preachy, but it does take a look at witchcraft through Biblical verses and beliefs. But that is only more background to the story. The tale itself is one that will appeal to the YA crowd--romance, teenage angst, and a murder mystery to book. Do your fingers spark? I received this book through Kindle Scout.

This is a very clean and fun story with a hint of teen romance, mystery, and magic.

I enjoyed all the characters! There is a nice variety of interesting characters that are well thought out and help the story flow. What does it take to find that you have a grandmother? Witch Ways

I really want to know! A good high school witchy story Evie or Evelynn is a witch. This book she spends it trying to figure out if she actually is one. Her story starts with a fire at her private school in which she is expelled because eye-witnesses claim they saw her hands spark. She learns she has a grandmother. Her best friend Bree and her neighbor comes long for her crazy witchy ride.

She has several love interest, but only one her grandmother approves. I am not a witch At 15 Evie finds out she has a grandmother who believes she is a witch!

And that Evie is also. Evie has just been thrown out of the only school she has attended all of her life and must start a new school. How can she convince grandma witches don't exist, make new friends, and just be herself? Not to mention the murder across town and two boys who are suddenly treating her as someone special? Oct 31, Hope rated it it was amazing. Fun teen novel with a young girl just finding out that she is a witch.

Great best friend drama, not too much boy drama, and a wonderful plot where she solves a murder mystery. Good proportions of each- I get sick of teen romances with good plots that aren't focused on.

Definitely going to read the rest of the series even if I can't get them from the library. Sep 08, Whitney rated it it was amazing. I have been provided with a copy of Witch Ways by the author for an impartial review.

For a teen crowd This book was definitely geared at a teen or even preteen reader. While it was enjoyable, there was t a a lot of depth and the end came rather abruptly without a lot of explaining of how it came about. To witch or not to witch. Evelyn is 15, and she'd just set the school science lab on fire. She had no idea how, but wondered about the blue sparkles that had emitted from her fingers just before the fire started.

Enter into a world where magic is real and your uncle is now dating the neighbor lady who had supplied them with baked goods over the years. Life is just too weird. This book was very well written, and I couldn't seem to put it down. I read it, I believe, in two days. The only reason I only have 4 stars is the fact that there were several references to sex.

In my opinion, that should limit the audience it could've otherwise reached. I thought it was going to be a typical teen goes to an academy with angst book. But it had some interesting twist and turns along with a murder mystery for the fun of it. Looking forward to the next book. Nov 03, Hendrix Eva rated it really liked it. Tempted to read the next. You don't get to shh me! Who wouldn't want to be a witch? This is a lovely story about a young girl struggling to become her future self. The characters are realistic and the struggles are typical. The story is engaging and I enjoyed reading it; so much in fact that I bought the next book in the series.

It was to fast of an ending. She could've written a hundred more pages before the ending. There were so many things left unanswered. This is a good book if your looking for a quick easy read for your Reading Challenge. Refreshing and fun Great character development and witty lines kept this story moving forward and the reader engaged. This was just the change of pace I needed and now I must read the rest of the series.

Witch Ways is the first book in the Witch Ways series and it was really enjoyable. Oct 31, Chryssy rated it did not like it. Intriguing Read I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I even bought the second one, which I rarely do. The love triangle, the mystery, the supernatural, it has it all. This is book 1. I really enjoyed this book.

Evie finds herself in some inexplicable situations that keep the story moving, with laugh out loud moments. My favorite of the 3 books. Nov 07, Jennifer Reese Rohr rated it really liked it. Can't wait to readnext one. Dec 03, Ashley rated it it was amazing. Oct 31, Myridian rated it liked it Shelves: This is an omnibus so I'll review the three books separately. Overall I thought the characters were appealing and the setting or most of it was believable. I liked that the timeline started in the 80's and moved forward from there, basically making the characters my contemporaries. The first book brings you into the world where witches and magic have a place, albeit a small one, in the world we live in.

The family goes to stay in their newly inherited home in the country which makes an excellent setting for the weirdness that happens. My one complaint was that the second half of the book dramatically changes the setting and tone of the novel in a way I found discombobulating. I think I might have been happier if the story had even ended on a bit of a cliff hanger and then the author picked up in the new setting. The way it was it felt like she was trying to splice a wholly different story into the thing and it really didn't work for me. That said, I did enjoy the book and moved right into the next one.

Of course with this book I started out disappointed. I'd gotten so used to the voice of the main character from the first book that when the author introduced someone else as the teller of the tale I was annoyed. The good thing was that the book shifted in the middle again, rather abruptly and we were back to Fern's perspective. Overall again I enjoyed the story and the characters, but wanted a little more consistency in the writing style.

The final book was perhaps my favorite. The horror aspect built from book to book to culminate in an appealing way in this story and there was no jarring transition halfway through. The ending was surprising to me, but satisfying. Overall an enjoying read. Aug 20, Rebecca Yager rated it it was amazing.

The first book was phenomenal; the second book you just kind of have to endure to get to the third book which, while not quite as amazing as the first one, was much more enjoyable than the 2nd, and although I wasn't always sure where the author was going, by the very end it all made sense and the 3-book story was excellent and absolutely worth reading. In fact, it may be time to go back and read them all again Feb 23, Twilightandstars rated it liked it Shelves: I really liked Prospero's Children, and had read it separately, but did not care much for the other two stories.

I ended up not finishing the book, and may stick with re-reading the first book of the omnibus in the future. Feb 27, Shari rated it liked it. A trilogy in one volume which is, perhaps, too much all at once. This was a long and dense read because of the author's delight in portraying long dreams in minutiae and honoring us with descriptive passages that went on for pages. Pages that actually moved the story along were few and far between because of this energy Siegel spent on 'telling.

Her writing could be lyrical and beautiful, but the broad panoply of beings from a parallel dimension was the upshot of many subtexts that added clutter.

The greed for power of the 'dark side' that was so vicious and destructive just for the sake of chaos and death alone was so emphatic and constant, there was no light, no let-up. All this said, I do want to add that there were wonderful moments when Siegel would drop in surprising and thoughtful philosophical tropes on love and death, on intuition and one's sensitivities to phenomenon inferring that these might be seeds of an undeveloped "Gift.

There were some absolutely wonderful characters, but too many of whom there was no relief from their joy in creating havoc and desolation. This genre of fantasy is not one of my favorites. I was intrigued by the abstract but I was hoping for something less battering on the senses.
