The Arrangement 3: The Ferro Family by H.M. Ward

Didi H said it best Strange dreams plague me Time no longer exists To make things stranger, my parents are talking to me They look exactly the same way they did the last time I saw them Mom has her gold cross around her neck Sean's blue gaze meets mine from across the room He stands there like a ghost Sean's voice is a whisper of music His hand strokes my cheek and soothing words fall from his lips. I love you, Avery. I'm so sorry I never told you. Where is Sean Ferro? He's no longer with us. He- hide spoiler ] When I read this my hand flew to my face Tell me the truth.

Actions speak louder than words, don't they? Add it up, Avery Do whatever the two of you do I can't do this anymore, I'm done I straddle another bike and look at the shiny chrome dials I say it without thinking. That is a dead giveaway you're not a biker. Stop freaking out the sales guy Oh my God, that was on humdinger of an ending Man, my heart is beating and I'm absolutely shocked!

How could she take this client???? So not impressed with her - sure, it's her job but she should have shared this!!! The way this story develops and the twists and turns. I absolutely adore this series but hate it at the same time for being a 'series' Why can't we have the full book already??? Jan 30, LIA Kh. Sean is totally a fool and avery is literally a masochist.

They are her calm during any storm. When once again Avery finds herself running from Sean, the unthinkable happens. Avery is again so confused by Sean actions verses his words. Avery is determined to find out what secrets Sean keeps in order to keep himself cut off from feeling. Did I mention that I hate Mel?!!!

Why the fuck is Avery BFFs with her??!!! When you get to the end of this one, you'll know what I'm talking about. Throughout the series I'm loving Sean one minute and then in the next I don't know how to take him. He throws Avery away when she tells him she loves him but then a couple days later he's getting in front of a truck that's about to side swipe her car!! H Did I mention that I hate Mel?!!! He's just all kinds of fucked up!! I think I'm nuts because I'm swooning over him. The thing that pulled me to Sean was the darkness, the enormous strain on his soul, and the reason was simple--it matches mine.

Sometimes I feel like we're linked, like our pain is so intense when we're alone, but when we come together it cancels out. Maybe it's not really like that. Maybe we're both destined to be alone. Marty is another confusing character. I don't think he's gay. I think he's crazy about Avery and is afraid of rejection so he pretends he's gay. On to Book 6!!! She needs to take a hike!!!! Holly has warned us time and time again that with type of series, there are going to be cliffhangers. I just have to deal with it. But I do have a little bit of this when I get to the end.. Once again Avery is left broken and so the hell am I. Oh Sean, when will you learn? Time and time again Avery has given him the opportunity to tell her his feelings, really make her understand the way he feels yet I really want to sit here and complain about the horrendous cliffhanger once again, but I won't.. Time and time again Avery has given him the opportunity to tell her his feelings, really make her understand the way he feels yet he won't.

He throws himself under a truck for her, then lets her walk away. I want to scream at him, make him understand but well.. Avery is once again being the strong, level-headed girl that we know and love. She may succumb to Sean's charms once in a while, but on a whole she will not bow down to him without any explanations. So for now, what are they? I hate these scenes, Sean doesn't want her back working there, just as much as Avery doesn't want to be there, but right now there is no answer.

Neither of them will back down and so for now, they are at a crossroads. As soon as I started reading the scene I knew. I just knew there was no way in hell that could not happen. How is she going to move on now? I have no clue. I am dying for the next book, again. But I want you too..

Poor Avery has fallen so deep for Sean, that the heartache hole that she is in might break her. What is it that he has done that is so bad? I'm not sure I can wait for the next book, this story is k Wow, I am gob smacked at where this part of the story has ended up. I'm not sure I can wait for the next book, this story is killing me. It will be how much pain she can take until she comes to her senses.

Henry on the other hand seems to be the real deal if she could just harden her heart to Sean she might be able to get over him. Even though she doesn't love Henry, to be a call girl she doesn't need to. Maybe she really isn't right for this life, but at least now she knows who her real friends are. One sided love just isn't enough for any relationship. Avery needs to rethink her choices, she's too much of a caring person to do this. She needs all in on a relationship, this kind of life will only bring her pain.

I still can't get over Mel, oh my, she knows how Avery feels about Sean. Gonna take some talking to get through this one. The book ends in a cliffhanger, so for those who do not like it, beware. The reason for 3 stars as opposed to 4 is the length: A very good friend of mine hi, Patty! I am not sure I will be able to survive them all. Dec 29, Jenny Levine rated it really liked it. This story is incredibly short!!!

Why would I pay nine or more dollars for a series of sloppily written chapters? There's not even verification that the author finished the story before posting installments.

What if she loses interest, or even more likely, inspiration? I'd be stuck with a bunch of chapters and no resolution. If I want stories that have no promised end date, I'd go back to reading fan fiction. Yet another self-pubbed author who can't be arsed to learn the proper way to use speech tags. One cannot speak with any part of the body that is also used to point well, I suppose one could point with one's tongue - but not really.

A nod is a non-verbal affirmative communication. Ipso facto, a nod is incapable of uttering the word "yeah. As anyone who graduated fourth grade with more than a C average can tell you, the proper way to punctuate that sentence is: Or "You want me to help? And then there's the repeated: Makes one reader weep, makes another one sing. The set up is something we've seen a thousand times.

Avery is super poor, y'all. So poor that her crappy car stalls at every stop light in New York City, yet somehow is still a target for multiple car jackings. Funny, in my city, it's the expensive cars that get stolen, but whatever. Let's pretend this is realistic. Like that a super poor college student would want or need a car in New York City in the first place. Later, Avery whines about having to work so hard and study so hard.

She has a scholarship to college that requires her to keep a 3. She gives her, "As you know, Bob" speech to her gorgeous friend Melony, who is putting on sparkly earrings to go to work at a hotel late in the evening. I'll give you three guesses what Melony does to make money, based on that description. And you'll have two left over. Avery, of course, even though somehow she has earned a scholarship to college, has zero clue about Melony's work. No wonder she has to work so hard to maintain that 3. Making smart observations is not exactly in her wheelhouse. And guess who Avery's first client is?

Does he like to ride motorcyles and tell girls chasing after stolen cars that their car has been stolen? Toldja you wouldn't need the additional two guesses. If this is indicative of the quality the self-publishing revolution will bring us, then I think we're past the storming of the New York publishing Bastille and well into the Terror. Struggling to maintain her grades in order to keep her scholarship, while working every other minute of the day with minimal earnings to show for it. A car that stops running when red lights linger too long. You could say Avery Stanz is in trouble and running out of options. With everything in her life taking a turn for the worse, there Review posted at: With everything in her life taking a turn for the worse, there is absolutely no room for a guy.

Funny, then, that when Sean Ferro rescues her and her car on several occasions, Avery can't seem to stop thinking about the gorgeous stranger. If only she had the time and energy to pursue that interest and find out where it could lead.

But, Avery is in a fairly desperate financial situation with seemingly no way to win. Or, so she thinks. When Avery is presented with a morally questionable opportunity to solve her money troubles as a high-dollar call girl, all it takes is one glance at the potential client for her to say The Arrangement is a great start to a new series from author H.

The storyline is sexy and a bit edgy. That can make or break a story like this, for me, and H. I do wish this book had been just a bit longer. In fact, a part of me thoroughly dislikes these installment stories altogether. BUT, I also understand the idea behind these popular and overly-abundant novella series which continue to appear in every genre. Each story grabs us just a little bit harder and keeps us waiting excitedly and impatiently for the next book to come.

Ward has assured that's the case here!

Why would a young, extremely attractive man request a virgin as an escort?

When Sean discovers Avery is his escort, he is not happy and wants to break off the arrangement until Avery convinces him not to. Now they have to make a new arrangement. What will it be? We have to wait until the next volume to find out. Arghh… I dislike volume style books and I have expressed my sentiment to Ms. However, I have loved everything I have read by H. Ive stopped at six I said I wasn't going to read these, because I thought it was ridiculous of Ms. Ive stopped at six because I realized I would much rather spend sixteen dollars reading either a handful of decent books or two books from good authors than be swindled out of reading anymore of these. Yes, her story idea is a good one, and her writing is decent grammatical errors, plot holes and lack of attention to detail not-withstanding.

However, I won't tolerate an author who draws out these installments for the sake of financial gain, and in doing so is lifting story lines from other authors and movies just so that she can pad these stories and fill in the holes. Ward has been watching or reading during each of these installments. Did you think no one would notice that you have essentially lifted scenes from Pretty Woman and inserted them into this book?

Escargot and a red dress? I have no idea what this is book is going to be about, but it has three things that make me want to read this The Author Rocks 2. The Cover is Gorgeous 3. Labeled as "New Adult" which I've been loving this genre lately. So this book has come out and I want to read it However, I'm not a fan of novellas or having to wait for the full story. I hate cliffhangers as it is. It's too bad, but I'm going to wait until all of them are out. Avery Stanz is a college student with a scholarship that's in peril of being taken away from her.

It is her only means of staying in school. She has no one to support her. In a city of millions, on a campus of thousands, in a courtyard of hundreds--I'm alone. Working to try and pay for food and her dorm is cutting into her studies and affecting her grades. Then her friend, Mel, introduces Avery to her boss, Miss Black. Miss Black runs an escort service. Sean Ferro is the tall, dark, and handsome motorcycle man, Avery keeps running into when her car continuously breaks down on the streets of Manhattan.

There is instant chemistry between the two. Like I had butterflies in my stomach every time these two had a chance encounter!!! I have never ,ever met someone who draws me in the way you do. It's everything -- the way your hair sways when you walk, the curve of your hips at your thigh, the sound of your voice, the way your eyes dart away when I compliment you -- like no one has ever told you how beautiful you are--everything about you is enticing.

Like a moth to a flame. At first Avery doesn't want to take the job with Miss Black, till she sees the picture of her possible client He's looking for the "virgin" experience!! Something's wrong with this guy. He wants a virgin hooker. That's like the biggest oxymoron ever. Guess what Avery will choose?! Can't wait to read all the books in this series!!! It's pretty damn addictive so far: Aug 16, Willow Madison rated it did not like it Recommends it for: This is a long winded, repeated scene after scene, butt-ass-boring attempt by an author to make the following into a novella: She's alone in the world.

She has no money. She's close to losing her only chance at getting ahead. She didn't know her friend was a call girl. She meets a guy. Guy is supposed to be smart, wealthy and cute. He comes across as an idiot. He's supposed to be deep and mysterious. He wants a virgin.

He'll pay for it. He is an idiot. She takes offer to be his call girl. He doesn't know she's going to be served up as his virgin. Like everything in this book - no climax is reached by anyone. Jan 07, Lucy rated it really liked it. There are too many books these days to be able to remember what actually happened in the previous book, so to me it just breaks up the story and breaks any connection I had with the story and characters.

So to say I'm annoyed is an understatement, I can feel that this is going to be a great story but I really think it was the wrong choice to have it released this way. I'll do a review of the entire series 12 books when I finish the last book, but I really liked this one: Jun 29, MaryReadsRomance rated it it was ok Shelves: There is a parallel between this book "series" and the series of dates between the hero and heroine in the book - both probably should have been for FREE.

I could have liked this book if the story had been edited and encapsulated in one actual book. So tired of the artificially split trilogies! The story had some promise and I enjoyed the gritty realism portrayed for the poor college girl and the surprise meeting of the main characters. But the story seemed to drift away almost as if the author There is a parallel between this book "series" and the series of dates between the hero and heroine in the book - both probably should have been for FREE.

But the story seemed to drift away almost as if the author wrote in line without an outline or a master plan. That is an ok approach in beginning writing BUT a decent writer will go back and tighten up their writing by pulling out redundant and excess verbiage, and make sure it all WORKS.

Publisher's Summary

This "work" has too many lose ends with no tightening up. Could easily have been one short story or at most one book. I loved some of the self pub FREE fan fiction and am happy to encourage budding new authors. BUT this is out of control with the lack of editing, the artificial splitting and elongation of plots using mundane devices and cliff hangers to get more money and PR. I am actually starting to feel intellectually malnourished with the current crop of anemic short stories being passed off as books. Because I got to read these books for free, however, I am not outraged - just merely disappointed.

As someone who has been reading amateur fan fiction for years, I must say that this story is not much better than much of the former FREE fan fict. That said, it is also not up to the best of the fan fict. I think it is inexcusable to not write a story and go back and edit and revise it to make it one comprehensive and cohesive story and book and then publish it and be done! The Arrangement is not being published live and so there is absolutely no reason or justification, other than to milk the reader, to make this a series.

For established and mainstream authored books, a series is usually comprised of individual fully developed length books that have a complete story with resolution OR a trilogy would be a VERY long and complex story that requires due to length a division in publication. Each book may explore different people or build upon one another but again each book can largely stand alone. There is absolutely no justification for this to be a series when each "book" is very short and there is no resolution to an individual story and the characters have basically stayed the same through out - except again to milk the readers.

It is a generally poorer quality book and almost any product as a matter of fact that results from a linear seat of the pants, piecemeal development plan. Even books with a stream of consciousness style are not actually developed from a stream of consciousness! I am offended for all readers who have come to the this table month after month, having paid full price and patiently waiting with expectation, only to be served one course of warmed over left overs.

Leftovers, which in this case at least promise some flavor, but often blandly fulfill the caloric requirement but are never fully satisfying. I don't give 1 star reviews because either I do my research and just simply avoid anything that bad, or I just stop reading the book and don't bother even remembering it no less bothering with a review unless it is a new book and I feel compelled to warn my friends or more it is so bad that I am wildly mad about being ripped off.

I so agree with the one reviewer who put it so well: I am not giving this "book" or the other "books" in this inflated "series" a one star review because I got to read the books in a few sittings VS going hungry for months , and for free VS paying over inflated prices for a "piece" of a book , and because it was mildly entertaining.

I am however not giving it a higher rating than 2 stars, even at the free rate, because I am not at all satisfied with the quality of work and the lack of an ending YET AGAIN as this series continues with no end in sight View all 4 comments. Avery has to put herself in the middle of the lions den and things do not go according to plan.

I can't say I'm surprised. I don't think anything in Avery's life has went accor Holy cow does stuff go down for real in this one! I don't think anything in Avery's life has went according to plan. They all seem to take one step forward and two steps back. Will everyone survive what is coming or will betrayal win in the end? What is there left to say about these two. They are still perfect for each other in their own messed up ways. Despite everything that has happened they still find time to be together. Even if it is a fleeting kiss.

Their lives are about to change. In more ways then when and I am not sure they are ready for it yet. That is if they survive there current predicament. I am so excited about this series.
