Great story with lots of tension Portland, Oregon, has been paralyzed with fear by a serial killer known as the Rose Killer who abducts and murders women in pairs, one white and one black, and leaves their corpses in plain view with a white rose on the black victim and a black rose on the white victim.

I couldn't help but think that Vasquez was rather naive considering her profession. Or maybe she was too distracted by the hot sex with the boss aspect.

Anyway, the desperate quest to apprehend the Rose Killer made for an exciting story and kept the reader guessing until the end.

If I had proofread this book, I would have corrected 12 errors, the most frequent being "honed in on" instead of "homed in on. Jan 18, Perry Martin rated it it was amazing.

In honesty this is the first book I have read or listened to and I was not disapointed. Being from Oregon myself reading a story that takes place in Portland, as well as the coast and other cities I know well it was a bit of home for this reviewer. This killer kills in pairs one Black and one White female victim and leaves a rose one black and one white on each.

Veronica must prove herself a team player and win over the Portland Detectives. After loosing her husband three years ago she has hidden in her work and worked mostly alone tracking the worst criminals the FBI knows about. This trip to Portland is the first time it isn't work only. Her astranged sister lives in Portland and so the story involves an attempt of reconnecting along with a dangerous pursuit of the Rose Killer.

This audiobook was well done and well written. A Veronica Vasquez Thriller. FBI psychologist and criminal profiler Veronica Vasquez returns to her hometown of Portland, Oregon to assist police in apprehending a ruthless serial killer dubbed "The Rose Killer," who kills beautiful women in pairs, leaving a rose on top of each corpse. Heading the investigation is homicide Detective Sergeant Bryan Waldicott.

Veronica must win him over, along with the entire task force, and prove herself worthy of the job. Since losing her husband three years ago, Veronica had been focused on her work to escape the pain of loneliness and separation. A romance with Waldicott, who has issues of his own, complicates things for them both as they try to stop a serial murderer before he kills again.
