Bakshi knows just which details make for an interesting and informative travalogue without ever bogging down. I have read much about Iceland recently in preparation for my upcoming trip, and this is by far the most entertaining and comprehensive account of all things Icelandic. It's not a travel guide, but the author does mention some points of interest. Beautiful color photographs are scattered throughout.

Will be plotting the route Akhil took for my Iceland road trip this summer! Added a few things to my bucket list as well.

This all means you can also easily machine wash it and rinse it with mild detergent in cold water although the label then also says 40 degrees, so I just washed it on 30 degrees to be sure , followed by a low tumble dry I just air dried it, and that worked just fine, it dries pretty quickly.

I went on the website of Primaloft , and they wrote that this microfibre blend was originally developed to serve the needs of the U. Army, who desired a water resistant, synthetic alternative to goose down. So to me, that smells like a high-quality product.

Wearing the jacket in the car with loads of other clothing underneath … not wanting to go out in the rain! The primaloft jackets worn underneath our snaefell iceland jackets! What to wear to iceland? These Astronauts know the answer: These polartec neoshell trousers are very simple, with just a small 66 North logo on one of the legs and no frills anywhere else. I like that the pants are so clean, although side pockets would have been something I always like in pants, so I missed them here for sure. I got the XL and it fitted perfectly.

Product description

I have super wide hips and heavy legs, and this pair fitted me like a glove, no need to go bigger than this. If you go one size bigger than your normal pant size, you should be fine. Actually, besides my merino base layer, I also wore another pair of hiking pants under it, and it still fit me really well. In the waist, there is an integrated webbing belt with plastic buckle that you can adjust and an elasticated rear waist.

This means it can stretch pretty far and will fit pretty much anyone! The pants ended up dirty, but not smelly at all and it was super easy to clean them afterwards, leaving no trace, really. Definitely the Womens and M ens Polartec Pants. Even in heavy rain, we were totally safe from all the elements: Used as a base layer, you wear this shirt under your other layers of clothing.

WE'RE SORRY, BUT YOUR BROWSER IS TOO OLD :-(

The shirt is pretty simple, with just a small logo on the chest and no other prints or details anywhere else. The shirt comes in the sizes: The shirt is also not very long at the bottom.

As you can see on the photos below, the shirt has a bit of a grid texture. This is because the wool in this shirt is entirely woven, there is no glue used like in most of these type of shirts.

66° North - Travels in Iceland

First of all, this shirt feels super soft to the touch. No need for that, really, because it dries quickly, as you can read below:. I checked the website and they gave me a lot of information.

Iceland 2017

In short, by isolating a merino wool interior and a synthetic fiber exterior, they developed a hybrid fabric with distinct surface features to optimize wicking, breathability and durability. One of the best benefits is that this fabric is fast drying and highly breathable. It is therefore also naturally odor resistant, so no matter how much you sweat, nasty smells will be pretty much non-existent. As I brought my own merino wool base layers with me, I mostly used those to test them, but I wore this Egill longsleeve one day during our long car rides and it was super comfortable.

It definitely tastes like more and I will wear it in the future on another trip for sure. What to wear Iceland: I cannot express how grateful I was that 66 Degrees North donated all these pieces of clothing to our entire team in Iceland. It was simply put the best possible clothing we could have wished for the circumstances:
