I like the idea of a woman doctor but for that time period, it was unheard of which made the story lack. It tried to add mystery but that failed. I've never really read a book this bad. It needs reworking and probably shouldn't have been released yet. I would be willing to reread this once it has undergone a major edit. I was hoping that I'd downloaded a newer and revised copy as the other reviews are somewhat negative on the content.
But no such luck unless it was worse previously! I'm loving the general story and their situations I think, it's a bit hard to tell actually. Stirling sounds as though he is going to be the hero to die for but I just can't read any more of it. It's too hard to pick which tense we're in and the spelling is just horrible. Can we have an edited version please. It needs to b Oh dear! It needs to be corrected before I'm going to stagger through this again, though as I said, it has the makings of a first class romance. Please don't give up though Ms Rein.
I want to read it in all its glory when updated. I liked the story in this book a lot. What it is in desperate need of is proofreading. I'm not usually bothered by a few misspelled words and bad grammar isn't always a show stopper for me, but this was awful. The story would probably have held my attention more if there hadn't been so many discrepancies with tenses. Present and past kept overlapping in sentences making me wonder what sort of editing was done.
I like the context and I like a good romance but the jarring tense thing turned me off. It's easily remedied though. While I enjoyed the storyline in this book, the typo's and other errors were just about beyond belief. I think it should have been edited a bit better. I still would recommend it as a good read if you can get past the typing mistakes. Very good I enjoyed it. Apr 17, Barbara Stroup rated it it was ok. Poor editing The editing for this book was terrible the story line was dull and I was very disappointed with it waste of money. Needs major proof reading!

This book is just what I wanted several years ago when I went through major surgery and recovery.

When the tiredness is too great for large books and long chapters, but a hurting heart and body need encouragement, those are found within these pages. Amy Carmichael criticizes the text of "More Love to Thee". If she had only followed the thought to its conclusion, she would have had no reason for criticism, and had she known the pain-filled life of the author, I think she would never have done it. She certainly would have been given no excuse. Rose from Brier is a collection of letters by Amy Carmichael. She wrote these letters specifically for those who are ill, and she wrote them while she was ill and in significant pain.
She said in the introduction to the book, "If I had waited till the harrow had lifted, perhaps a less tired mind would have found a better way.
But then the book would have been from the well to the ill, and not from the ill to the ill, which I think is what it is meant to be - a rose plucked straight from the brie Rose from Brier is a collection of letters by Amy Carmichael. On my hard days I was grateful to read her letters to those who are ill. Amy Carmichael is one of my heroes. She founded an orphanage in India, died in , yet the orphanage thrives today. I am paralyzed and confined to my bed, as Amy was for the twenty years of her life. She wrote dozens of books during that time.
This particular book is compiled of letters she received from fellow suffers and the beautifully written encouraging words she penned to each person who worte to her. It helped me put things into perspective and strengthened my faith in God. I highly rec Amy Carmichael is one of my heroes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles. Feb 19, Jennifer rated it it was amazing Shelves: Amy Carmichael understood that the well cannot help the sick, but only the sick can comfort the sick. It's refreshing to know someone else understood what I am going through, and that God brings healing through these situations.
Jul 25, Barbara rated it it was amazing. This book was prompted when Amy received some literature for sick people, but didn't really get anything from them. Then she realized it was because they were written by people who wee not sick telling the sick how they ought to feel. From her own experience of being an invalid the last several years of her life she wrote a series of essays that always point the reader back to Christ.
Highly recommended for those suffering and those who love them.
