FESTIVAL - All The Bible Teaches About
Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. Hear this word that I take up over you in lamentation, O house of Israel: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,. Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.
No one comes to the Father except through me. For the customs of the peoples are vanity. There will be bare places by the Nile, on the brink of the Nile, and all that is sown by the Nile will be parched, will be driven away, and will be no more. Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living? That they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord , are the Most High over all the earth.
If this people go up to offer sacrifices in the temple of the Lord at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and return to Rehoboam king of Judah. Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
Then this thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one. You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way, for every abominable thing that the Lord hates they have done for their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.
As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him. And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf.

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.
Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and it shall be lifted up above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it, and many nations shall come, and say: He shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide for strong nations far away; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore; but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.
For all the peoples walk each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever. The Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah: There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
When we understand the symbolism and celebrate these seven feasts, we uncover greater understanding of the unified, perfectly connected plan of God. The other articles in this section begin to explore the encouraging and sometimes surprising answers. Jesus Christ, His apostles and the early New Testament Church all celebrated these biblical festivals.
You can find three quick examples by looking at 37 On the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

Consider what the prophet Zechariah recorded about the time after Jesus Christ returns to the Mount of Olives 9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. This [same] Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. A major theme of the Bible is spiritual growth and bearing spiritual fruit. God uses the analogy of spiritual harvests as a description of His awesome plan of salvation.
The first produce to become ripe in the spring was called the firstfruits and was offered to God 19 The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.

Spiritually, Jesus Christ was the perfect firstfruit and the first one to be resurrected to immortality:. This first spiritual harvest is pictured in the spring feasts of Passover and Unleavened Bread. Next came the conclusion of the spring grain harvest at the Feast of Pentecost. But each one in his own order: But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life.

And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. This quick overview has probably raised many questions in your mind. Each of these future harvests and the related festivals will be covered in more detail in future lessons. We hope this lesson has introduced the biblical analogy of harvests as it relates to the unfolding plan of salvation for humanity. God truly has a plan for each and every man, woman and child who has ever lived, and understanding and observing the festivals of God can help us unlock some of the wonderful depths of meaning that we might otherwise easily miss.
Jesus Christ taught His disciples with many agricultural analogies. One of His most famous parables is the parable of the sower in Matthew Read this parable now, and then read the explanation Jesus gave in Matthew This parable shows that we have an individual responsibility for how we respond to the "word of the kingdom," the gospel message.
Take a few minutes to think about and write down some of the dangers Jesus outlined and how you plan to combat these human tendencies and pitfalls. Pray and seek God's help to become the good soil needed for His seed to grow. The parable also gave the disciples an overview of how the gospel would be received by different individuals during the firstfruits harvest of the Church. Sadly, it seems many won't respond in this age. But as we will see in future lessons, this is not the end of God's plan to offer salvation to all humanity.
