Great well written, easy read, that could carry on with another book, but not disappointed with the ending.
Kobo library, this was an ok read, it in no way resembled the book club theme, the book was very tame in comparison to the plot and reading material in the actual book, what a conundrum. The story spoke about all kinds of erotic and yet the characters sex lives were sweet as bunnies, ridiculous when you think of it. For me, sex scenes are best when there is less detail. The author provides enough information to give you the picture, and then she cuts out without going into the explicit details. There aren't pages and pages of hot, steamy sex in this.
So if you are one who loves the sizzling sex scenes, you will be disappointed. I personally thought they were well done. I think that most readers will find a character that they can relate to a bit. Even though the ending was a bit bitter sweet, I was so happy to see how far each of the members of the group had come during their time together.
I appreciated that the author provided a nice little Epilogue and everything ends happily. And The Not So Much: I was expecting the group to be all female because of the title. When Reggie first shows up, he makes it clear he is there to gather research for his thesis. He is shy and doesn't actively participate. I kept hoping that he would give up on the book club, especially when they started reading erotica. However as time went on, he begins to open up and he starts adding to the discussion. After that, I enjoyed watching how the book club gave him new confidence. He ended up being a great addition to the book club.
She is in her early sixties and struggling with retirement. She is already missing her busy life and disappointed that her husband has no interest in doing anything other than puttering around at home. Her sex life has never been satisfying and she soon learns what she has been missing once she starts reading all the erotica.
Sue's parts of the book are the most negative as she and her husband start fighting. It gets worse and worse, and I didn't like that her parts dragged down the story. I was grateful that things finally ended on a high note for Sue, and I ended up appreciating her journey. I was a touch disappointed that after everything the group had gone through that due to circumstances, things began to rapidly change. I kind of hated seeing the changes.
I appreciated though that the Epilogue wraps everything up and ties up the loose ends. The Naughty Girls' Book Club was a surprisingly good read. I loved that this was a book with genuine characters in realistic situations. I enjoyed exploring the relationships and seeing the characters transform. I appreciated that this was an educational read as well and I learned a lot about how erotic books have changed throughout the centuries.
The sex is tasteful and lacks explicit detail. Bottom line this is a feel good chick lit read perfect for when you need something light and fun. It's a centuries' old tradition. People have always loved stories. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review. Posted Rainy Day Ramblings. Jul 09, Erin Cataldi rated it really liked it Shelves: I'm not going to lie, this was a delightful, naughty little read. It's essentially a cozy, beach read, with some sex, a book club, happy endings literally , and a cozy little cafe set in England. What's not to love. It's light, it's breezy, there's cute cliche characters of all ages and times of life although no diversity to speak of from a young feminist, to a newly married woman, to a divorcee, to a male graduate student and a recent retiree who is going stir crazy staying at home.
What sta I'm not going to lie, this was a delightful, naughty little read. What starts as a sweet and innocent book club at a local cafe quickly turns into an erotica book club by accident the cafe owner had a scandalous book in her purse.

The attendees who all started as strangers quickly become friends and find confidence in the personal and sexual lives. It's cute, it's fun, it's an all around good book that will make you want to read more erotica and join a book club! May 21, Nikki rated it liked it. Read my review on my blog, For the Love of Books! In order to boost sales and get her brand out, she starts a knitting club that meets weekly at her bake shop. You thought this book was about a book club?
M Read my review on my blog, For the Love of Books! My bad, let me try that again. When she sees a fellow small business go under, she decides to start a book club to help get her sales going again. What she gets is a very diverse group: Rebecca, the teacher who wants more out of life; Sue, the retired woman who is growing tired of her boring life; Gracie, the feminist rebel with a passion for s fashion; and Reggie, the awkward graduate student who swears he is just using the group for research.
We have a group of people, who each had their own storylines told from their own perspectives, that meet each week at a small shop to do what they love to do: The book club, which brings all of the characters together, is not a typical book club. Through the book, each character gets to choose a novel for the club that shows a different aspect to the world of erotic fiction. One of the best things about the novel is that almost all of their chosen books are in fact real.
The only one that was not was the first erotic novel they read, Ten Sweet Lessons. This book, which like its real-life counterpart started a craze through the nation, came across as a poorly written novel meant simply to titillate the reader. Though this book may seem to be all about sexuality on the surface, it truly is about the characters and their relationships.
As the novel progresses, you learn of a problem or challenge each character faces.
Hart did an amazing job with tying up all of the loose ends and finding a resolution for each story line. This novel works great as a stand-alone novel. There was one big problem that bothered me. I love to read because I love to laugh, and a lot of the time I choose books because I know that they will make me laugh. This story has all the potential in the world to make the reader laugh, but the most I got out of it was a smile. I think that Hart could have played this scene up a bit and given the audience a laugh. I read the majority of this book during one sick day.
It definitely grabbed my attention, though it was pretty anti-climactic. Is this a good book for someone who likes the erotic fiction they read in the story? But this is a good book for someone who wants to cuddle up on the couch and read something that will make them smile. Jun 01, Fabulous Book Fiend rated it it was amazing. Now I LOVE books about book groups, and I do like a bit of erotica, so I pretty much knew I was going to love this book, but I was still surprised because it didn't take the plot direction that I thought it was going to, and in doing so, exceeded all my expectations!
I thought it was a brilliant concept, with the development of 50 Shades of Grey and all the others that have been release since, erotica has definitely become more mainstream, and so a book group focusing solely on 'naughty Review: I thought it was a brilliant concept, with the development of 50 Shades of Grey and all the others that have been release since, erotica has definitely become more mainstream, and so a book group focusing solely on 'naughty books' is a great idea!
Each and every character in this book adds to the development of the plot as well as to the readers enjoyment. Cafe owner Estelle, initially seems pretty reserved, a divorced mum with a teenage son, she is not as conservative and you might expect, however. Then we have retired Sue, again somewhat more conservative than the other members of the group, but the amount that she learns bout herself and changes over the course of the novel is truly phenomenal. Initially I didn't like the male character in the group, Reggie, I thought he felt as if the book grip was beneath him, but he is really brought out of his shell by other members of the group.
Rebecca is your typical newly wed finding that marriage isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be. The novels she reads seem to bring out her character with each page turn.
The Naughty Girl's Book Club by Sophie Hart
My favourite member of the group though is Gracie. I find it fab that she works in a library and I love the sound of her sense of style. She's definitely a whole lot of fun. There are, or course, other male characters in the novel aside from book-club member Reggie and these guys all bring something the to the book as well. At some points I feel sorry for Rebecca's husband Andy, he really doesn't know what he's in for when Rebecca starts reading the books that the group discuss. The addition of the make characters mean that there is of course romance throughout the storyline!
I think the balance of sex, and romance and plot was just fabulous, the author has got it spot on in this case, and that's part of what makes it such an entertaining read! The sex is interspersed with the perfect amount of romance, but also a decent helping of real life. I think everyone will be able to relate to one of these characters, or at least something that one of them is going through, another place where this author has got it exactly right.
The Naughty Girls Book Club is a great read, something which I think any reader could pick up and enjoy as a fun, fast-paced novel. The characters are likeable, the storyline and realistic BUT it will make you want to go out and buy more books, so be warned! There is a fab section at the end of the book that has, not only suggested book-club questions, but also suggested reading material!
I am proud to say that I have read a decent chunk of the books suggested, but there are at least three books mentioned by this author that are going straight on my wish list! Oct 28, Erin rated it really liked it. Let me start by saying that I was at first put off by the title of this book. I thought it was going to be trashy and not well written. However, I couldn't have been more wrong. After finding the blurb on amazon I realised I'd misjudged it and downloaded it straight away. After reading the first chapter I was totally hooked. Baking and talking about books are two of my favourite things to do so it really appealed to me once I started to read.
The story has several lead characters but mainly centr Let me start by saying that I was at first put off by the title of this book. After deciding to start a book club to combat a slump in sales, Estelle meets Rebecca, Sue, Gracie and Reggie. Each has their own separate stories but as they start to make bonds over the erotic novels they've read their lives begin to intertwine. As soon as the book club begins, Estelle finds a side of herself being awakened from its 5 year slumber.
Rebecca, married to husband Andy, is finding that their young relationship has gone stale. Lack of excitement spurs Rebecca to join the book club. The book club acts as a turning point for Rebecca as she realises that if she doesn't try to bring some fun and passion back into her relationship it is in danger of going off the edge completely. Sue has been married to George for 40 years, and recently retired, she is ready to start living her life to the full. The only problem is that George, who has been looking forward to a well-earned retirement, doesn't want to change his habits.
In a bid to relieve the boredom she finds herself facing, Sue joins the book club and has her eyes opened to what she think she has been missing all of her life. Gracie and Reggie have both been sort of misfits, not sure of their place as their personalities both challenge the stereotypical norm. Often when I'm reading a book, if I can easily relate to the main character I can imagine myself in their shoes.
With this though, I would swap lives with any of the characters! The story focuses around the book club discussing "Ten Secret Lessons" the trending erotic novel, which reminded me entirely of Fifty Shades and the whole story captures the essence of what unfolded across nations after it became acceptable to be openly reading erotica. I really loved that each of the characters had their own stories as well as becoming involved in each other's as they become friends. I found it really easy to follow and the story moved along gently and seamlessly until the end.
Sophie has injected warmth and love into the simple book club scenario and will leave readers looking for their closest club! But what if you read it in a book club, with a bunch of strangers? Or maybe, just maybe, it would be incredibly liberating. Four very different people show up for the first meeting: I wish I could write a more interesting review of this book. But the book was just so nice. You know what was kind of interesting about this book? My book club, on the other hand, comprises mainly lesbians and is reading Virginia Woolf next.
I will not be proposing this list to them. I love that we can have online book clubs where we can openly discuss scandalous books from the relative anonymity of our laptops, but I also love the idea of doing that in person, around coffee and cake. Screw that; wine and cake. I would need lots of both to seriously discuss Fifty Shades of Grey with my friends.

Every once in a while I am in the mood for a really good spicy, erotica story. I have come a long way since I read my first erotica book. What a first book to pick too as my introduction to erotica. Sisters and one guy Trying to write my first review of this genre was hard.

I even had found myself blushing writing it as I liked the book but how do you like something like this without trying to come off like you Every once in a while I am in the mood for a really good spicy, erotica story. I even had found myself blushing writing it as I liked the book but how do you like something like this without trying to come off like you could be labeled a sex addict. I am not but you get the picture. So anyways what my point is, is that for these types of books to make me like them or even love them anymore, the characters have to be interesting, there has to be chemistry and not just sex with little storyline.
If these things are not there than it is just a book that does not make me feel anything like wanting to grab my husband and kiss him after reading the book. I did not feel like this reading this book. In fact, after about chapter ten I gave up on this book. None of the characters were that interesting to me. I can't even remember their names or what they looked like. The first book selection that they chose sounded good and I was looking forward to reading the book along with the book club.
Sadly, I did not get to as the ladies just discussed their thoughts about the book. Like I said this book was not for me. Jul 13, Primula Bond rated it really liked it. Such a super book - does everything it says on the tin. It manages to be quite horny without being dirty, if you see what I mean. Pushes a few boundaries, dares to explore and discuss erotica, without actually being downright erotic itself. Your mother could read this without being shocked.
The Naughty Girl's Book Club by Sophie Hart
Even mine, and she certainly wouldn't venture into one of my erotic books! Naughty Girls is easy, fluffy, girlie, sexy, optmistic, fun, satisfying - just like one of Estelle's delicious cakes! If it is a litt Such a super book - does everything it says on the tin. If it is a little predictable, well, that's why we picked it up to read in the first place. I expected a little sadness in parts, but there was no real conflict or difficulty. Just gentle, wry humour and an optimistic view of the characters' future.
I read most of this sitting in the sun and it was just the job. Not just that, though. I actually shed a wee tear at the resolution of the situation with Sue and George. I think it was his 'suspiciously new sandals' that did it for me. Also the place where they meet is v familiar to me, somewhere I used to live, and a place with intense memories. Won't give anything else away, but my own reaction surprised me, too, which has to be the mark of a great writer! Dec 15, Amanda rated it really liked it.
I originally thought this would be a bonkbuster, although there are some sexual references they are not crude. This book is about a book club that read and discuss erotic books, but the reader also learns about each character in great detail and as the story enfolds we see how being a part of the group can effect their relationships in different ways. I had this book downloaded for quite some time. I chose this book as I thoroughly enjoy reading and anything relating to books. So the book club a I originally thought this would be a bonkbuster, although there are some sexual references they are not crude.

So the book club attracted me. As to why it has taken me quite a while to read it, probably down to the matter of having too many books downloaded and forgotten in the TBR pile. Poi ci sono alcune parti serie ma alla fine tutto si risolve al meglio! Feb 11, Lauren rated it it was amazing Shelves: When I picked up this book, I thought it was really going to be a lot of sex and naughtiness.
Boy was I surprised! It was more about the friendships and relationships surrounding the members of the naughty girls book club. I DVR'd my shows so I could read instead of watch my favorite shows. The book is told in the different members' points of view and I definitely preferred that. It shows you that it isn't taboo anymore to read erotica. Mar 02, Yvonne Morgan rated it it was amazing.
This book tickled my fancy right from the front cover Can't think of more you would want from a book Jul 05, Kat rated it it was amazing.
