Abstract The health status of indigenous peoples worldwide varies according to their unique historical, political, and social circumstances. Socioeconomic Factors The first studies to assess the role of socioeconomic factors and health status differences between Maoris and non-Maoris investigated mortality in men aged 15 to 64 years.
